  6. Case in point. I had a vision that KDAF and KIAH would get back into the news business. For Example, what if KDAF and KIAH ask Tegna stations WFAA and KHOU to produce newscasts for their station. KDAF/WFAA - News 8 Daybreak on CW33 (7-9AM) Repeat of News 8 Midday (12-1PM) and News 8 at 9 on CW33 (9-10PM) KHOU/KIAH - KHOU 11 News This Morning on CW39 (7-9AM) KHOU 11 News at 3 on CW39 (3-3:30PM or 3-4PM) and KHOU 11 News at 9 on CW39 (9-10PM) Good Idea or Bad Idea?
  7. Well, according to TitanTV schedule, KDAF has Two & a 1/2 Men and MOM from 5-6PM and DailyMailTV from 9-10PM M-F starting Monday. https://cw33.com/on-air/program-schedule/
  8. Bob Hetherington was WUAB's first anchor when the 10:00 News started is now in real estate in Columbus.
  9. I called the WISN Newsroom a moment ago, and one of the assignment editors told me that they'll be doing a tribute to David on the 11AM newscast later today, as well as a full tribute on the early-evening newscasts.
  10. It's a double whammy for KTVT. Weekend Anchor/Reporter Dan Haggerty and his wife Consumer Justice/Reporter Cristin Severance are both leaving the CBS O&O station at the end of this month to be key players at Portland, OR's KGW 8 (NBC). Haggerty will become the stations new main anchor after long-time KGW anchor Joe Donlon left for Tribune's WGN 9 Chicago, and Severance will join the stations investigative unit. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/bfb2e48b36ffd3efc11ee57b269e1dda-4268.html
  11. Goodbye Morning Dose and NewsFix, its been canceled. Now KDAF and KIAH can start rebuilding and revive their own newscasts. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2018/09/newsfix-and-morning-dose-cancelled-by.html
  12. Please send your prayers to KPRC Chief Meteorologist Frank Billingsley. The long-time weatherman at the Houston's NBC station has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. https://www.click2houston.com/health/frank-billingsley-talks-about-his-prostate-cancer-diagnosis
  13. I do believe Craig Melvin is the new Bryant Gumbel.
  14. In the memory of the late, great Ed Brandon (1942-2018)
  15. I have some very news to tell you all, and it is with a very heavy heart to tell you that longtime KTRK Chief Weathercaster Ed Brandon has passed away peacefully last night at the age of 75. Ed came to KTRK in May of 1972 and spent 35 years delivering the weather to so many Houstonians to see whether they need sunglasses or a raincoat. Ed served for many years on The Advisory Board of Houston City Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. He hosted an annual golf tournament benefiting Cenikor, one of the nation's largest and most successful non-profit residential treatment centers for indigent alcoholics and drug addicts. A public memorial service is being planed. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences goes out to Ed Brandon's family and to Ed's extended family at ABC13 Eyewitness News (KTRK). Rest in peace, Ed and Godspeed. https://abc13.com/society/houston-abc13-weather-icon-ed-brandon-has-died/4029317/
  16. Throw away the NewsFix and Morning Dose and start building in-house news departments for 'DAF and 'IAH and that includes WGNO, they need to say goodbye with News with a Twist and revive it newscasts as well.
  17. I'm guessing Mark Wright will be back at anchoring at 7, 10 & 11pm even though he anchors at 5 & 6pm as well.
  18. IMO, Don Harris looks more like the late, great Chip Moody of WFAA.
  19. Folks, I had a brief chat with Jason Wheeler last night about being the soon-to-be John McCaa's successor. And this is what he told me via Facebook. "Thanks---but I'm sure they have a whole list of other candidates they are considering. Whoever it is will have some big shoes to fill." They may have a list of candidates, but I know who's getting the big seat... It's Jason.
  20. Tegna Media could be growing soon. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/220200/tegna-dealmakers-waiting-rain-delay/
  21. I'm sure by now you know, long time WFAA anchor John McCaa has announced that he'll be retiring on 3/1/2019. McCaa joined WFAA in 1984 originally at the Dallas-based station as a reporter from the station's Fort Worth bureau, the late 1980's he was then the weekend anchor pairing with Gloria Campos before he and Campos moved to the weeknight team with Tracy Rowlett, Chip Moody (RIP) making News8 the most watched news in the DFW market. He's been part of the weeknight team since December 1991 when he teamed with Chip at 5PM and frequently fill-in for the 6 & 10PM and since 2002, McCaa has been part of the station 10PM newscasts with now retired Gloria Campos and now with Cynthia Izzguirre. For nearly 35 years in Dallas/Fort Worh, McCaa has worked the best in the business; Iola Johnson, Tracy Rowlett, John Criswell, Chip Moody, Scott Sams, Jeff Brady, Troy Dungan and Dale Hansen (who signed a new two year deal with WFAA til 2020). I'm going to miss his Uncut Commentaries every Friday at 6PM. No word on who will succeed John as the main anchor; but I have a very good hunch it will be Jason Wheeler taking the helm at 5, 6 & The Update at 10PM come 2019. On behalf of myself and to many member of TVNT, we wish John McCaa the very best on his retirement. Congrats John, and God Bless. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/968b04e1960f849edf841eae1619acb0-4245.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=wtxnvqTQKBo;t=10
  22. This is very rare for KBVO (KEYE), Interesting to see "The Spirit of Texas" campaign being used on a non-Big Three station.
  23. Vintage WAGA Eyewitness News from the late 80s to the early 90s.
