  1. Why would they use a brand WEWS previously use?
  2. I agree. And it's not just Boston. It's all over the country. These crazy news expansions have been extremely ridiculous. And what's worst, some stations will gloat about having more hours of news then any other station in promos. It doesn't make the content of your newscast (or your station as a whole) any better, if you just keep on getting rid of other programming and replacing it with news. If news is all you show, then that would give viewers (and even non-news viewers) a reason to change the channel.
  3. So after almost five years after moving its primetime news from 9pm to 10pm, WSBK 38 is moving its primetime news again to 8pm. This move will go in effect August 29th.
  4. Here we go. Some news expansions. Following what KTVI did earlier this year, KDVR's sister-station KWGN is launching an 11pm newscast beginning September 12. EDIT: Also KSHB will be launching a 6:30pm newscast, also beginning September 12. Scripps-produced syndie show "The List" will be moved to KMCI 38 at 9pm. _____________________________________________ The McLaughlin Group's host & EP John McLaughlin was unable to host the program this weekend because he was "under the weather". This was the 89-year-old's first time missing his namesake panel program since the show debuted in 1982.
  5. This was planned for months. After it announced in December that it'll get the CW on "KXJB-D2", Gray bought some LPs around the Fargo/Grand Forks area. K30LT-D Horace (which is now KXJB-LD) K28MA-D Argusville K30LR-D Grand Forks Now even though they haven't officially announced what they'll put on main channel, I wouldn't be surprised if they put CBS in HD on it's main channel.
  6. From NorthPine.com, WDAY-TV is launching a 9pm broadcast on two of its subchannels. Simultaneously.
  7. The Nexstar/West Virginia Media sale, has now been greenlighted.
  8. If Herndon leaves, good for him. His talents will be appreciated elsewhere.
  9. That would've made total sense.
  10. What difference does it make if its 720p or 1080i. No station is in 1080p, so if you're saying 720p isn't full HD, then 1080i isn't full HD either. WLS had one of the best signals out there with their 720p. .....before they added that Live Well HD subchannel.
  11. .......that would a disaster.
  12. No, Letterman's was even larger, and it made him unrecognizable. I didn't even know it was him, at first glance.
  13. I could be wrong, but I don't think I'd remember seeing Avalos working on a Saturday night, since he left WLS!!!
  14. This is just sad as hell. Just plain pitiful. A Damn Shame. SMMFH.
  15. Don't they normally bring a reporter from KTRK to cover something in this region? I remember some time ago that a reporter from there was in Louisiana covering a weather-related event (like a Tropical Storm) and that clip was aired WLS and the other sister stations. Like this morning, KTRK's anchor/reporter Chauncy Glover is in Baton Rouge and was featured on the national ABC shows.
  16. Damn. Nagy has been all over the place this weekend. Last night, Liz was covering a local breaker at during the 10:30pm half hour. Then a few hours later, she anchored the morning broadcast with Tanja Babich. And tonight, she's covering the deadly police shooting in Baton Rouge. Hope she finally get some rest.
  17. Why the font has to be so skinny? Some folks would think that's hard to read...
  18. IIRC, WFLD did have an hourly 5pm broadcast on Saturdays staring in the late 90s through a good chunk of the 2000s. Most of that time the newscast was called Fox News Saturday. I previously stated 2006, but I now think the Saturday broadcast probably lasted longer than that, because I remember it was still on when Bears went to the Super Bowl in '07.
  19. Yes.
  20. The CW is coming to Western North Dakota. NorthPine.com stated that KX stations in North Dakota is adding The CW on its .2 subchannel, replacing its Weather stream.
  21. A carbon copy setup like the Scripps stations.
  22. Yes.
  23. WLS always do a live 35 second news tease (during the commericial break at around the 9:30pm half hour).
  24. With the viewers that 5, 7 & 9 have, what's the point of having a 5th station with a 5pm broadcasts? That's just too crowded. This is nothing more than a Johnny-Come-Lately move (Like Johnny Came Really Late) by WFLD. And probably got pressured by the big bosses at Fox to do it. All Fox is doing is burning more money to add another hour of news that very few folks are going to watch and they're going to lose big time. It's a complete waste if you ask me. And it's just leaves fewer options to non-news viewers. When the political money runs dry, are they're going to keep the 5pm experiment one year after launch? Hmm..... Unless they're pulling someone out of the hat, I'll say It'll go away eventually, just like "The TEN" went away. They should've kept the Simpsons repeats. At least it did have more staying power.
  25. WFLD is better off not doing an early evening broadcast.
