That should make severe weather coverage all the more interesting, especially if they have all 4-5 at hand plus Melton if needed.

Bryant hasn't been at WMC for months, so I'm guessing his non-compete clause was a short one with this move, and comes at the right time for WATN with both Lauren Raymer and Joy Lambert expected to go on maternity leave in the coming weeks. I thought Bailey Melton was Bryant's replacement though. Does that mean Melton is gone too, or is WMC just adding another meteorologist to the four they already have?

Bryan Fenley, formerly of KREM-TV in Spokane, has been hired as the new sportscaster at WATN-TV in Memphis. From Twitter: https://twitter.com/PhillipDean1/status/497414265587109888

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TennTV1983 replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Sponsorship should only be used on news helicopters and maybe for the sports segments, but nothing else. Just my two cents. -
I see. So by the time he does eventually retire, Bert Case will have worked on every TV station in the Jackson, MS market.

Good hire, although you have to feel bad for WLBT after losing Paul Williams (now at WATN), Bert Case (retired?), Rob Jay (now at Jackson State University), and now Katina Rankin as well. Ironically, that means Rankin and Williams will be reunited again.

WHBQ is expanding its morning newscasts to seven days a week. Beginning July 6th, Good Morning Memphis will air on Sundays from 6am-8am in addition to Saturdays. (I don't have a link, but commercials have started airing this week.)

Reminds me of one of the older WCBS logos from the 80s/90s for some reason (the 2 logo that is).- 3687 replies

For the most part, yes. If a rebrand does happen, they should just go with either "WCNC News" and leave out the channel number, or go back to being just "News 36".

At least theirs is better than the lame ass wager made between the governors of New York and California over who wins the Stanley Cup Finals (NY Rangers vs LA Kings). Speaking of which, Are WNBC and KNBC doing friendly wagers?
-
I was thinking it would be more like this: WOI: IowaFirst.com (since Des Moines is the capital city and all) WHBF: 4theQuadCities.com or WeAreTheQuadCities.com BTW, KCAU has their own Nexstar page up under the domain http://www.SiouxLandMatters.com. Also, in terms of WOI and KCAU, how long before we see a statewide newscast along the lines of Arkansas Today?

WTVA's copy of the old WEWS look pre-dated WVUE's use of the graphics, actually.
-
Back in the 90s, there were several stations that copied off of 's look and logo, including those that were owned by Bert Ellis at the time ( , , and KSLA). Even and (pre-WKMG) had copied off the look at one time.

Matt and Al did the double luge together last week in Sochi. I don't know what to say .... http://www.today.com/id/49063771/ns/today-video/#54384003 http://www.today.com/id/49063771/ns/today-video/#54384491

Per Mediaverse (via Facebook), Tracy Rogers has been named the new VP/GM at WMC-TV. Rogers once served as the station's news director before taking over as VP/GM at KAIT in Jonesboro.

Ah, Bert Case. He'll always be remembered for doing this story on then-Mississippi Governor Kirk Fordice. ... and somewhat for this candid moment against a stray dog.

Nor does this happen everyday ... somebody gave Ernie Freeman a hug on camera this morning. http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/video?clipId=9716658&topVideoCatNo=230026&autoStart=true#axzz2q2jrGPeF

That and the two University of Memphis coaches' shows WHBQ does every week during basketball season, but it'll be interesting to see how WATN manages to do its Sunday night sports show if their intent is to cover all levels of basketball and not just at the prep or college level.
-
Why divest when they can simply shift some of the licenses over to Mission, though I would imagine the already messy ownership situations in Syracuse and Fort Wayne would only get messier if Nexstar were to acquire Granite as a whole.
-
That's anyone's guess since Wendy has been doing freelance work as a fill-in meteorologist after becoming a full-time mom (Holly Hancock recently left WHBQ to become a full-time mom herself). Speaking of which, WHBQ has job postings up for a new weather anchor as well as a traffic reporter (is Heather York leaving?).

It is an atypical setup, and something WTVF in Nashville did as well to some extent following the retirement of Hope Hines. Not sure if they still do that type of arrangement. Also, according to a press release on the LocalMemphis page (http://www.localmemphis.com/content/newstation/story/TV-Stations-Welcome-New-Talent-to-Local-Sports/qg0WzyQ-2USvw_3vH0JKsA.cspx), Doc will have a dual role as both a general assignment and sports reporter for the stations, which is also not unusual as WHBQ did that with Marcus Hunter and Kristin Tallent in the past. That should be interesting considering the fact that WREG no longer does a sports show on Sundays (they used to have one that was hosted by George Lapides, who does a morning sports show on WHBQ-AM), WMC dropped their show to do an hour-long newscast on Sunday nights, and both stations do abbreviated 10pm newscasts on Friday nights (dedicating the rest of the half hour to an extended sports segment).

A follow up on the Gil Tyree hire by WATN/WLMT in Memphis. His first day on the job at the Twin Stations will be July 1st, according to this article posted today. http://www.accessatlanta.com/weblogs/radio-tv-talk/2013/jun/20/gpbs-gil-tyree-leaves-memphis/
