This looks like a similar size and shape as KNSD's studio.
-
I'm watching KNBC right now and they mentioned they are committed to 24 hour coverage and they are borrowing reporters from across the country to help with coverage. Right now they have Dave Summers from KNSD reporting in Altadena.

Of course it's not the same layout, but this is my opinion. The desk is very similar (textures updated), the TV array behind the desk is very similar, the colors are just about the same (again textures updated, no use of all light boxes). And yes, I'm aware the sets have different designers, but for me the first thought that came to my mind was KGTV.

That's basically the 2024 update to KGTV's current 2012 set... Yikes... Can't believe that set is still being made all these years later.

I was just thinking about this and I feel like they must be prepping for Marianne to retire soon. Just speculation, there has been no announcement.

I look forward to KSWB getting them, they are in dire need of graphics overhaul. Unfortunately, I feel like they will be waiting until their new facilities are done. A little off topic, but I have noticed some tweaks to the KUSI graphics since they moved into the KSWB building, like the adoption of the ticker and L3 animations.

I saw Nichelle Medina anchoring this morning on KNSD. After looking at her IG, seems permanent. KNSD now seems to be where San Diego's former news personalities are landing.
-
That is the L3 for promos. At least that's when I see them in KNSD. Something off topic, in the past week I've noticed KNSD running station ID's and very often. Almost every commercial break. And they've also started using the NBC chimes when presenting the extended forecast. Has some new mandates gone into effect?

He has resurfaced back in San Diego at KSWB. Caught him just now reporting.

It wasn't giving KCAL at all to me. More like the former KCBS set. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C77RqBwvOd2/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Angelica Campos, most recently of KGTV, has joined KNSD/KUAN as a fill in meteorologist. https://www.instagram.com/p/C17-X95P4VP/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Not to make this a list thread, but NBC O&O's also use their live bug similarly with the location. They've done this with the last couple of packages. So it is out there, and I do like their application of it minus the live tab on the L3.

KNSD's weather team is now official: -Sheena Parveen is still weekday mornings -Greg Bledsoe is weekday evenings -Brooke Martell is weekend mornings -Francella Perez is weekend evenings All bios are up on the website.
-
Continuing with the weather musical chairs, I saw Greg Bledsoe doing the weather this morning.

Well, I didn't see this coming. Christina Pascucci is running for US Senate: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyjHmcxJ0jk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I'm still curious as to who is filling that spot. I thought they were going with Sheena since she was working that shift for weeks, but now this week she is back to mornings. I'm thinking it'll be Francella, though Brooke is on today.

Update: Dagmar is no longer with KNSD. They aired her goodbye message during the 4p news: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/nbc-7s-dagmar-midcap-says-goodbye/3319537/ All this week, KNSD will be airing the latest Down to Earth with Dagmar trip to Madagascar. Jinx

I hope KGTV is close to the front of the line for a new set. If they could at least do something about that black curtain that's to the left of the 3x3 array
-
I didn't realize, if you go to the quick links on their website and select 7Oth anniversary, there's actually a lot of interviews with former personalities. Most seem to be short blurbs. Hopefully the full interviews are available somewhere.

What a time to be alive!

KGTV celebrating 70 years with a half hour special that includes interviews with former anchors Bree Walker and Carol Lebeau. https://www.10news.com/70th-anniversary/celebrating-70-years-san-diegos-kgtv-celebrates-milestone-anniversary

I wonder where Dagmar Midcap over at KNSD has been. She hasn't been on air in over a month and they've literally had every weather personality at the station filling in. This week and last week it's been Sheena Parveen from mornings.

This article says Cohen has already been relieved of his duties. https://timesofsandiego.com/business/2023/09/04/marketink-nexstar-now-controls-san-diegos-kusi-news-director-steve-cohen-is-out/

Apparently it is Virginia Cha's week at KGTV. They are airing stories about all she's covered all week.

I probably would venture away from "without a strategy" being that a set refresh is something that is planned will in advance as we always point out in these threads. We need to remember that delays always happen, and there are still supplies that have long lead lead times and sometimes permitting takes long as well. I work at theme park, and no matter how much you plan something, things still can put well off your plan. They very well may have had a plan to do it all at once, but something threw that off.
