Meanwhile, Dr. Phil (reruns) is exiting broadcast syndie after this season. All eppys will be exclusive to Merit TV. It appears the said reruns will end on OWN as well. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/merit-tv-now-exclusive-home-to-all-21-seasons-of-dr-phil/

Wait what, sorry for thinking off topic a bit, but how did New Years' Rockin eve lost the NOLA segment in terms of local politics and what is the association with the sugar bowl? Curious as I was watching the show in pockets the other night (there was PR + Vegas in its place with Times Sq. of course)

If you have sporting content in your hands + are willing to share with the world, be careful out there because one of the most followed accounts in the archival community, Dave Volsky of DV's back door channel got terminated this past week, according to fellow archivist "Bart Simpson". I agree with one of the posters that channels like Volsky put a spotlight not only on how far the game has come, but the forgotten or underrated players not often mentioned in the sport discussion. You'd think they would create a museum where they could show highlights or full games in theaters for attendees, Pro Football Hall of Fame aside. (hell, something similar should be built for pop culture or news, but I digress) Hell his channel has even made it thru the press at times. Example: https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/lions-fan-who-attended-tragic-1971-chuck-hughes-game-left-shaken-by-bills-damar-hamlin-incident https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2yrvPZ9Mmu_jEdVGGqYNKA/community?lb=Ugkx_d6PfJmWUe7wuWkpdRUlkh5CQBYHvDbZ

Update from Gotham City: WWOR: Crime Expose debuts 9/23 at 6p, replacing a run of People Puzzler, leaving its 9a run solo. Finally Caught (from PPI) debuts 9/21 at 10p, replacing The Listener, leaving the sked. Suits Weekend reruns airs Sun 10p-12a after Feud sun night (4x) which will remain. Sidenote: Daily Blast LIVE, from Tegna, signed off Fri Sept. 6 after 7 seasons. Its hosts during the finale announced that they gathered to launch a new podcast (because who else doesn't have a podcast these days) called Daytime Talk after Dark, a usual pivot from other media personalities outside of corporate media a la Katie Couric or Don Lemon. Here's the first episode released last week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0N2E-EiAuY

NYC Fall Schedule 2024-25 WCBS: Other than Drew Barrymore 1/2 shows united as one hr on 8/26, replacing 9am news, NCIS Hawaii reruns (2x) airs late Sat. night 9/15 1-3a. Seal Team (2x) leave schedule after this weekend. WNBC: No change WNYW: TMZ Live rerun replaces Modern Family (2x) at 12am on 9/9 WABC: No change WWOR: People Puzzler + Pictionary (2ndary runs) moved from 12a + 1a, respectively, to 9-10am on Labor day + GMFB Overtime also debuted 9/2 at 12pm (1 hr only). People's court (2nd run) moved to 11am. Dish Nation moves to 5:30p on 9/9, replacing Who the bleep is that? True crime news debuts at 6:30 on the same day, taking over Dish's slot. Law + Order SVU rerun (syndie, not MNTV) airs at 12a, replacing People Puzzler + Pictionary 2nd runs. Person place or thing (2nd run) is a placeholder at 1a until True crime news' 2nd run takes over late 9/9. PPT will only air solo run on WNYW at 1:30p thereafter. Side note: MNTV 2 hr. service is split apart at 9p + 11p respectively, effective late august. Double runs of Feud remain at 10p. Feud weekend encores will now air saturday nights only 8-10p. Suits (4x) (separate weekend deal, not MNTV) will air sunday nights 8p-12a on 9/15, replacing in part Modern family's wk reruns as well. Family feud's presence is reduced slightly. Recently, it's previous 6:30p run on FOX 5 was replaced by an extension of its 6 o' clock news. Its other 11p double run was also replaced by GDNY spinoff "Good Night New York" + Battleground. WPIX: Judy Justice (2x) 2-3p on 9/9, replacing ICrime + Court cam duo, as well as steering clear from Judge Judy reruns on WCBS at 3p. Bob Hearts Abishola rerun (1x) replaces Mom (exiting syndie) late 9/9-10 at 3a. WLNY: Storage Wars rerun exited syndie late fri 8/30 at 2:30a. Top secret files (2nd run) takes place as a placeholder. Two updates from respective markets: NY: Judy Justice debuts on WPIX on 9/9 (2x) at 2-3p. Clearly not competing against her former show across WCBS at 3-4p. LA: GMFB: Overtime debuts on FOX11 Plus (KCOP) on 9/2 at 7pm. Clearly shows a 'daytime show' is not relegated to within daytime hours. Here's a segment from GDLA previewing it + return of main GMFB: https://www.foxla.com/video/1491614 BTW: Anyone has insight what'll be on the CW plus fall schedule? (comings, goings + remains)

Update from Gotham City: I dunno if it's part of a package with ICRIME with Elizabeth Vargas or it just sneakily added to the schedule since it's not reflected on any tv listings except for titantv + TV Guide but Court Cam is on WPIX M-F at 2:30p. According to my YTTV recordings, what should've been a second run of ICRIME, Court cam airs in its place. Also another weekend run of Family Feud on WWOR Sunday Nights 8-10p (replaced Big Bang theory reruns in that timeframe, since moved to PIX), on top of usual Saturday night 8-10p runs. Chicago Fire + Chicago PD get sunday runs 4-6p + 6-8p respectively. Why doesn't FOX surrender WWOR license + merge "My9" into their or WRNN spectrum is beyond me. You don't need Sen. Menendez' spiel to challenge it since his recent indictment might spell the end of his political career, but I digress. Elsewhere, The Equalizer replaces Magnum PI on WCBS late night weekends (sat 12a + sun 1a)

From Gotham City: WCBS: Judge Judy (2x) moves to 3pm, replacing Dr. Phil + Hot Bench (double run) takes over at 4pm on 9/11. WNBC: No changes WNYW: Another Family feud (2x) run replaces Big Bang Theory at 11p on 9/4. Person place or Thing (1st run) replaces a You Bet Your Life run at 1:30p on 9/11. WABC: Rachael Ray moves back to her original slot at 10am as placeholder for her last week + Tamron Hall moves to 2pm on 9/4. Eyewitness News at 10a debuts 9/12. (delayed by a day for obvious reasons) WWOR: Encore run of Divorce Court at 8:30a while a previous run of Dish Nation at 6:30p (replacing BBT) after their new one for one week only on 9/4, both serves as placeholders. Effective 9/11: a People's Court run moves up a hour to 12p, Divorce Court (2x) moves up to 1pm. Maury (1x) moves to 2p, Jennifer Hudson encore moves up at 4p. Another Feud run at 5p, Who the Bleep is that? at 5:30p, People Puzzler debuts at 6p, pushing new Dish Nation back to 6:30p. TMZ Live encore moves up at 11p (from 12:30a) replacing that feud 2x run that'll transfer to WNYW in same timeframe. People Puzzler (2nd run) at 12a + Person, place or Thing (2nd run) at 12:30a, pushing Pictionary (2nd run) to 1a. Observations: My9 has been the Feud station for a while + this only cements it. Currently, 7-8p, 10-11p + 11:30p (not to mention 6:30p on FOX 5, which will also add 11p-12a runs on 9/11, latter half transferred from My9) Add in extra 5p run, it's 4 hrs. combined of Feud runs from the duop. Not to mention how WWOR hasn't only been a shell of itself, it became a 'parking lot'. 9 Broadcast Plaza is all but gone. But I'll digress. WLNY: CBS News New York debuted newscast at 8p (encore at 8:30p) on 9/1 Law + Order: SVU moves back to 9p Effective 9/11: Forensic files at 4a (replacing The balancing act), Top secret files at 4:30a (replacing Scene of the crime) Supreme Justice at 5a, Justice for All + The Verdict w/ Hatchett at 6 + 6:30a (replacing Springer), CBS Morning (2nd half) simulcast at 8a (replacing another Springer run) Equal Justice w/ Judge Eboni (1x) at 11:30a, Justice for the people (2x) (Judge Milian's new show) at 12p, Cutlers Court, basically the new Couples Court, at 1p (2x) (replacing Relative Justice) Judge Mathis airs solo at 2p, Springer moves to 3p and airs solo (replacing Mathis' 2nd run) WPIX: Big Bang Theory debuts at 7:30p on 9/4 Young Sheldon moves to 1:30a, Black-ish (1x) in its final week at 2a + The Goldbergs at 2:30a on early 9/5 Dr. Phil reruns move to PIX11 at 3p on 9/11 Effective 9/12: Big Bang Theory (2nd run) at 1a, Paid Program at 2a (replacing Black-ish), Two and a Half men (2nd run) moves to 2:30a, The goldbergs (1x) at 3:30a (replacing Last Man Standing, but still can be seen on WLNY 7-8p) Side Note: For those station/subchannels affiliated with the CW Plus feed: Black-ish exits after 9/9. TMZ, TMZ Live + Dish Nation are added to the daily schedule on 9/4. Chicago PD + The liquidator reruns move to 6a + 7a respectively, while We the people (1x) + Divorce Court (2x) air 7:30 + 8-9a respectively, also 9/4. Springer returns to the schedule on 9/11 (replacing Black-ish). Judge Jerry + Caught in Providence reruns exited after this past week.

But where else are guests gonna plug in their latest 'non-union tubi holiday movie' like 'A corgi for christmas' then? /slightly sarc.

Thursday marked 20 years since David Bloom died. I'll never forget where I was when I found out the news, heard it on NY1. Where were you when you first heard it?
-
That point there I was thinking about. If the image was projected to be a bit more like Morning Joe or even Good Morning Football where it was more of a comradery than a "family", I feel the impact of the fallout would be less severe.

It appears FOX Weather daily and weekend simulcasts are dropped from FOX duop stations, or at least from WWOR, which usually airs M-F at 10a and Satudays at 10-12p. No word when that happened exactly, but its timeslot is now occupied with L+ O: SVU. I first noticed it on youtubetv listings, later confirmed it on Zap2it. Has anyone else noticed it?

From NYC: WCBS: CBS 2 News at 9a, Drew Barrymore Show (1/2) on 9/12. Magnum PI at 12:05a (sa) + 1:05a (su) weekend of 9/17-18. Major Crimes at (sa) 2:05a + SEAL Team (su) at 2:05a replaces BULL that same weekend. WNBC: NBC News Daily at 12p, Dateline (from WWOR) at 1p, Access Daily at 2p on 9/12. Days of our lives moves to Peacock on same day. One other syndie, Housesmarts, usually air early saturdays is off the sked. WNYW: People's court RR is a placeholder at 1p this week only, It competes - get ready - against another usual RR of people's court on sister station My9 at 1p. Sherri at 10a + Jennifer Hudson show at 11a on 9/12. (replaces Wendy + Nick Cannon) Pictionary + You Bet Your life (1) at 1-2p also on 9/12. YBYL (2) and TMZ switch places with the former at 6:30p + the latter at 7:30p. One other syndie, coffee with America, has a spinoff under the EXTRA banner airing early sat 4:30a before the main show. WABC: 9-1-1 RRs late night saturdays 9/17. Though it says ''To be Announced'' on Zap2it, No word on what will take place on late night sundays. Wipeout RRs finished this past weekend, so Byron Allen's ES.TV ilks will fill in for 1 wk. WWOR: Nick Cannon, as a placeholder, covers 1p (its other run remain at 12:30a) as Dateline moves to WNBC by 9/12. One may have to believe at some point at second run of Maury may be more feasible than a talk show that's already out of circuit by then. Similarly TMZ Live encore could come back at 12:30a. Sherri (2nd run) at 3p + J-Hud (2nd run) at 5p. Pictionary (2nd run) at 12a. WLNY: Jerry Springer 2x at 6a + 8a (latter replaces the doctors) + CBS News NY at 7a on 9/12. Why not a 2-hr morning news instead is beyond me. We the People With Judge Lauren Lake replaces an airing of America's Court at 10:30a. American Housewife replaces Mike + Molly (2x) at 5p. The Neighborhood replaces 2 broke girls at 11p (2x). Family guy (2x) + Bob's Burgers (2x) at 12a + 1a starting this week. Dr. Phil encore at 3a holds over this week for Drew Barrymore next week (first 1/2 will be encore from 9a, second 1/2 is other first run airing at 3:30a) Pawn stars + Storage Wars at 2-3a from 6-7a on 9/12-13. Impractical Jokers leaves the sked. WOW: women of Wrestling debuts 9/17 at 11p, encore on sun 11p. WPIX: Couples court extend an 1/2 hr. at 11a, replacing Judge Jerry (leaving sked). Wilkos 2nd run at 1p, Pawn stars + informercial 2-3p are placeholders this week only. 1 hr informercials at 1p will be placeholder for 9/12 before Karamo debuts on 9/19. ICrime debuts at 2p + Wilkos 2nd run at 3p replaces DailyMail TV, also on 9/12. The Good Doctor debuts 9/17 at 3p, cuts S.W.A.T into 1 run. No word of Ring Nation yet in this market, but already is causing a bit of controversy before it even debuts if you spend a little bit of time with google, just for a mere fact it is a thing...for now.

This is the future of some local stations happening now. We speculated here in the past if + when it's gonna happen. Now, some stations need to invest more into local proramming other than news + public affairs. Can you blame them, tho? Let alone a political year. Syndie business have no one to blame but themselves putting in a perilous situation toward extinction. Sure FOX/CW/MNT/Indy stations still need them, more than syndie needs them, but for how long? When a 'parking lot station' (i.e: KCOP) turned over 4 hours of its afternoon programming to simulcast their diginet Decades, it's quite telling.

CBS New York tonight on streaming aired a one hour rebroadcast of the 6:00 newscast on the day after the blackout of '77, which happened 45 years tonight. At helm was Jim Jensen and Pre-ET/Roundball Rock John Tesh. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/video/a-look-back-major-blackout-hits-new-york-city-on-july-13-1977/

Former anchor at Univision Chicago (WGBO), Noticiero Univision + Telemundo Chicago (WSNS), Edna Schmidt died June 24 at her home in native Puerto Rico. She was 51. Her struggle with alcoholism were well documented, which ended her time at Univision in 2011. Last seen at Telemundo Chicago in 2014, where she later ended up suing them for discrimination.
