  1. The crash of Air India Flight 182 is the top story of this 1985 WBBM newscast:
  2. If the clip is from 1986, it wouldn't have been a segment on WFLD's newscasts, which didn't start until the summer of 1987, but rather a standalone program. ***** A rare 1980s open from KTIE in Ventura Country:
  3. WGN, Chicago; weekend 9 p.m., 1987:
  4. Record-breaking cold temperatures dominate this 1983 WBBM newscast:
  5. For all of you dying to know where my username comes from (but a great clip regardless -- along with an unforgettable theme and long-time Washington anchor Leon Harris):
  6. WMAQ, Chicago; 10 p.m., 1996:
  7. And then there was WWOR:
  8. From 2006, the Saturday morning news from Chicago's WBBM:
  9. WGN, Chicago, 1965:
  10. A 1990 newscast from independent station KHTV in Houston:
  11. WBBM pays tribute to meteorologist and aviation expert Jim Tilmon, who died over the weekend. The piece includes plenty of historical footage featuring the Chicago TV legend: Here's a longer version of one of the clips seen above -- Tilmon on WMAQ in 1979 providing his analysis of what caused the crash of American Airlines Flight 191 immediately after taking off from O'Hare:
  12. And for completeness' sake, here's WMAQ'a 6 a.m. news from that day:
  13. Elizabeth Vargas and Mike Parker anchor this weekend WBBM newscast from 1990:
  14. Staying in Chicago, a rarely-seen-on-YouTube 5 a.m. edition of WLS's news from 2001:
  15. And, just uploaded by Sloan's TV Archive, here's WFLD's weekend 9 p.m. news from 2001:
  16. From Chicago, a rare WFLD clip from the period after Kris Long left and before Walter Jacobson joined the station as the 9 p.m. co-anchor -- along with a pretty unconventional open:
  17. WMAQ, Chicago; 6 p.m., 1993:
  18. Some elements remind me of another failed format:
  19. WGN, Chicago; 9 p.m., 1997:
  20. WBBM, Chicago; 5 p.m., 1997:
  21. WGN, Chicago; 9 p.m., 2001:
  22. The news on TVA in Francophone Canada has a new look:
  23. Staying in Chicago, the husband-and-wife team of Bob Sirott and Marianne Murciano host WFLD's Fox Thing in the Morning in this just-uploaded clip from 1997:
  24. Ah, WBBM at the height of its tabloid phase.
  25. And while we are in Arizona, ewjxn just uploaded another 1996 edition of KSAZ's Arizona Prime News -- at least the first 30 minutes of it. This was after the station adopted the Fox 10 News brand in other dayparts (and the CBS-era "10" logo was retired), but Arizona Prime News would remain essentially unchanged until it became Fox 10 News at 9 a few months later:
