  1. 29 has a sports-specific show at 6:30, and I could see that being probably the only logical spot for WPHL to squeeze in something new
  2. Given Nexstar's new "internalized" approach to their newscasts (ditching all network content in favor of exclusively using NewsNation content), I wouldn't be surprised if they're annoyed that they're only able to push their product during their also-ran morning show in a market like Philly. However, booting WPVI from the 10pm show would be foolish, and I'm not sure where else they could launch newscasts. The market is way too crowded during typical news hours, and I don't know how well received a 1pm or 7pm show would be. But if money isn't an issue, we could see an evening effort from them (and they could whip up their "fastest growing newscast" promos now before it even launches )
  3. Adam Pally also hosted a fantastically absurd episode from the CTM set with no audience
  4. I don’t know what I was expecting moving to the market 4 years ago, maybe something more akin to WGN in the morning or KTLA morning clips I’ve seen in the past, but I was fairly surprised at the shiny plastic sheen, AM to PM, of KTLA. I know it’s Los Angeles, but sometimes everything in-studio comes across artificial enough to the point of uncanny valley discomfort. Also, I’ve found the political leanings of both KTLA and KTTV are both fairly obvious.
  5. The technology is neat, but I don't really grasp how it improves upon forecast delivery as opposed to a nice physical set. Different cameras being used as the "window" in the rear of the set? Neat, but nothing that can't be done with a monitor or screen (and is already used on a fair number of sets as a backdrop). Weather conditions on the floor? Neat, as long as my location isn't obscured by someone standing on it. Also, even with the graphics, it still looks to me like the weather person is walking around a big empty warehouse.
  6. Someone mentioned it on another board, and checking TitanTV it looks like they’re dropping Judge Judy later this month to launch a 4pm newscast
  7. The TOH station ID (relegated to a small graphic at the bottom of the screen) is also identifying incorrectly as 9.2 instead of the actual 9.6. Zap2it also has KCAL+ listings on 9.2.
  8. If anything I imagine any new newscasts would be on 2 or 9 proper, with 9.6 becoming available for syndicated fare
  9. From the promo loop airing on 9.6 (that originally was airing/promoting a launch on 9.2 before moving to 9.6), it looks like a general entertainment lineup with extra runs of syndie fare like Dr. Phil, Judge Judy, Flip Side, Hot Bench, Family Feud and programming from MeTV Toons
  10. It appears Jessica Kartalija is out, according to her Facebook page- (1) Facebook
  11. The Roku FOX5 streaming channel guide for GNNY reads "Christal Young and Ryan Kristafer's edgy perspective on entertainment and lifestyle news in NYC and beyond." From that, I glean it's not going to involve any hard news at all, and if they're still going to be working the morning shift, this is probably being recorded sometime after GDNY wraps. I'm genuinely surprised- GNLA is a live newscast with headlines at the top.
  12. YTTV is also showing WPHL's logo with the CW logo tacked on alongside the now former WPSG "CW Philly" logo
  13. I had read that the weekend editions of the "News NOW" centralized newscasts had been discontinued but was surprised to see that KYW didn't revert to a local half-hour and instead dropped news altogether. The belief is that once the CBS stations drop The CW, they'll be adding more newscasts, so I'm optimistic that come Fall weekend news will be back. I always preferred their half-hour option at 10.
  14. It's tacky and gross. Incredible to think how both Nexstar and Scripps both basically executed the same plan launching news networks, but with such starkly different products.
  15. It's the new silent 3 of CBS Philadelphia and CBS News Philadelphia. Screenshots and video are in the O&O graphics thread
  16. It's a wrap on the Eyewitness News era today as the full "CBS News Philadelphia" brand and (green!) graphics have launched today
  17. WPSG did have graphics that leaned neon green for their "Wake Up News" show after the switch from UPN to the CW
  18. I was thinking the green (IF the gfx actually end up being green) could have at least two meanings- one being the obvious Eagles connotation, harboring the city's affinity for the team, the other being the positive connotation of the term "green" in modern parlance. Also given the sheer size of the 3 in some of the new promos (even though I much prefer it's smaller usage in place of the "box" in the new logo), as has been said- it's definitely a testament to the "channel 3, channel 6, channel 10" mentality of the market. Aside from potential usage in the graphics and maybe on screens in the studio, I doubt the word "three" will be mentioned much, if at all, but for hardcore old-school Philadelphia viewers, just SEEING a three will perhaps help bridge that gap between the outgoing and the incoming.
  19. Word from the Discord is that Jim Donovan confirmed in his daily Facebook live this morning that the new look will be debuting on KYW tomorrow at noon
  20. The CBS Philly Vimeo has posted a few new imaging spots featuring a green theme and the new logo, that along with the fact that tv listings haven't reverted back to using the "Eyewitness News" name this week may point to something imminent (unless the user has actual inside info).
  21. Someone posted on the discord that KYW's Monday newscasts are (once again) showing CBS News Philadelphia. Maybe a double launch on Monday with WCCO? We'll see!
  22. I had to pull up the CBS Philly Vimeo because that screenshot felt like an April fool's prank. That 3 is... ridiculous. Absurd. Positively goofy. Also- it flies in the face of the "CBS Local News" rebranding and minimizing the old branding. The three is loose! No box, and towering over the "CBS News Philadelphia" logo. Presumably it will be boxed when the graphics ultimately relaunch, but I don't like what I'm seeing.
  23. The latest forecast posted at https://6abc.com/weather/ shows the new graphics, Brittany Boyer mentioned it toward the end of the weather cast, specifically when she pulled up the 7-day forecast. Speaking firmly from the “how dare they re-record MCTYW with an orchestra” camp, it does feel weird to see the 7-day displayed horizontally as opposed to the traditional WPVI vertical, but I like the new look overall. Walter even made mention after the segment how when he started at WPVI, they were still using their physical Velcro weather graphics
  24. I somewhat surprised (and annoyed) that KDKA got the revamp before KYW. KYW seems to be teetering on the edge of relaunching but, for whatever reason, hasn't yet.
  25. I appreciate KDKA keeping their color scheme- SOMETHING to differentiate the standardized graphics locally.
