Adam mentioned earlier this week on Twitter that him broadcasting from home is only a precautionary measure due to an uptick in covid cases. Perhaps that's been broadened out to the rest of the newsroom.

I’m curious as to what exactly the closed captioning is picking up tonight on Night Light (YouTube TV blacks out the picture when taking screenshots or screen recordings)

I wonder if WCBS has their old TWC set piece lying around somewhere... time to dust it off!

Just got a 6am ET push notification plugging the morning show and saying "FOX Weather's new, expanded programming lineup launches today". I put it on in the background while I'm working and caught this graphic- Also, in the rotating promo corner they showed "America's Weather Now" running from 7p to 10p, with "FOX Weather Wild" airing at 10p, so it looks like live programming through 10pm is now standard starting today.

George Solis announced on his Instagram that he'll be leaving WPVI, no mention of a next stop yet

Another departure, and it's a big one- Hurricane Schwartz is retiring in May

Has there been any word on Tammie Souza joining the weather team full-time? I noticed in a weather promo she's featured prominently alongside the three other female forecasters. I know she was also pulling double duty filling in on other CBS O&O's since WCAU gave her the shaft. Glad to see her (possibly) staying in Philly.

Isn't the whole missing person/murder mystery shtick what brought Nancy Grace success on her old HLN show? Oxygen was just entirely revamped recently as a true crime network. How long until it becomes the entirety of the "Prime" hour?

The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread
PhillyWatch replied to Jess's topic in Philadelphia News
Starting today, they're giving the 6:30 run of Dish Nation the boot in favor of rotating local shows, starting off with "The Pulse with Bill Anderson", coming from a new retrofitted podcast studio. Checking Zap2It, other shows throughout the week look to be "The 215", a return (or reruns) of "The ClassH-room", "Kelly Drives" and "Props & Locks". All except "Props & Locks" also appear to be airing earlier in the day at 1pm. -
Noticed this morning (EARLY morning here on the west coast) that FOX O&O sister station KCOP is also simulcasting America's Weather Weekend in addition to the weekday hour. I wonder if the aforementioned stations running the weekday hour are also airing this as well. KCOP does seem to be in a programming world of it's own- less syndie content, a lot of Decades simulcasting and FOX Soul shows.

With all the recent comings, there's also a going- as noted in the WNBC thread, Violeta Yas is heading up I-95 to NYC soon
-
Is an hour of FWX really any different than an hour of "Better" or "Daily Blast Live"? It's in-house content that's one less timeslot to have to worry about for syndication. FWX has now been added to the Roku's lineup of free streaming channels. Flipping through, Accuweatner NOW is airing a feature on the Superbowl into a Superbowl/West Coast forecast, Weathernation is airing their typical rotating weathermaps and forecasts, and FWX is airing a canned weather special. Granted there was a brief weather update when they returned from commercial, but it's funny that FWX is the most "Weather Channel" option of those three choices right now...

Suddenly independent WJMN will reportedly begin airing NewsNation's "Morning In America". Interested to see if there will be an additional roll-out to stations with smaller news profiles in their portfolio to provide a morning news block.

I welcome the addition of another weather subchannel. I don't really understand why so many came & went, particularly the O&O based ones; they seemed like perfect companions to news-focused "trust us with your weather" presentations (and yes, I get that weather is available on demand on any internet-connected device). Seeing how so many are now gone (save for the sporadic carriage of WeatherNation), FWX may well have the market all to itself in most areas. Also of note, it seems the commercial load on the YouTube TV version of FWX is different than that on Tubi. I'm assuming the Tubi feed is coming from a FOX News-integrated backend that populates the same commercials you'd get on any other FOX News-originating stream (hence all the commercials for FOX Nation and Jesse Waters). On YouTube TV, I haven't seen any of those. Just a lot of "Hi, I'm Joe Namath!" and finance app ads.
-
FWX has been added to YouTube TV, making it the only weather channel currently available on the platform (Byron Allen recently signed a deal to get TWC onto YTTV, but it still hasn't been added yet)

This. I was looking forward to checking out their coverage of this storm, but I got to the the first commercial break yesterday and decided I'd seen enough. I could deal with the FOX Nation commercials, but I can't deal with seeing Hannity, Tucker, and the rest during every break.

I'm surprised they kept her up for as long as they did. I know it's the top of the newscast and a main story they're covering, but they couldn't shift to the next report and give her time to regroup and then come back to her? Also that accent of hers had me feeling like I was back home and I had to look her up. Sure enough, Tori Yorgey is a Philly-area native.

Jim Gardner Reducing Schedule, to Retire at End of 2022
PhillyWatch replied to Morphtato's topic in Philadelphia News
I'd be surprised if they kept Rick at 10. Not to call the 10 team the "b" squad", but I get the feeling they'd like to keep their "premiere" talent on the 11 and have a separate team they can highlight on the 10 (and give viewers another reason to flip over to 6 at 11). Plus, I would be surprised if Rick isn't also named to the 6pm once that time comes at the end of the year. If he does drop the 10, the question would be- who gets the 10? Taff has already been shifted off to earlier in the day. Bring Walter Perez to weeknights? Call up Gray Hall from weekend mornings? -

Noticing during the 4 that they’ve returned the anchors to the desk with no distancing side note: also noticed in some clearly dated soda aisle b-roll a few bottles of “Diet Pepsi Jazz”, which was an interesting mid-2000’s throwback
-
Granted they have the full force of FOX News behind them in terms of production and news gathering, but with regards to weather- so does The Weather Channel (with a nearly 40-year head start!), and FWX absolutely put them to shame with this coverage overnight.
-
Curious if any stations in the Midwest are carrying the FWX feed as severe weather rolls through tonight. I know local weather teams are likely to be at the ready, but I believe I read here that KCPQ took the FWX feed during severe weather recently before local coverage began
-
I caught FWX airing a report today from Scripps’ KSTU. Good to see them working with a non-O&O to procure content, and it makes me wonder if the FWX OTA launch will include some non-O&O’s out of the gate as well

The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread
PhillyWatch replied to Jess's topic in Philadelphia News
I saw this thread yesterday and WISH I would’ve posted then, because I 100 percent thought “they could just re-air 9am Good Day to fill an hour”. Save for any Breaking News that might happen, it’s relatively evergreen for the day. It’s the only hour I DVR in case my boo or I want something goofy and light to watch in the evening. They could even air it after The Feed at Night for an extra hour of late night competition.
