  1. I have to see all the changes in action before I can judge if this is going to work. I will say that the name change was completely unnecessary and ‘CBS Mornings’ sounds horrible. Fundamentally, it makes sense to have all their morning programs under one uniformed ‘umbrella’ both in look and format. So I disagree with the idea that this will hurt the CBS Sunday Morning brand. Having everyone/everything separate (whether it’s 60 Mins., CBSEN, etc…) doing their own thing and never ‘really’ working together as one news organization has never made sense.
  2. Nice setup. Figured NewsNation was going to take over this studio for their new morning show.
  3. He’s a great reporter/storyteller, but he should NEVER anchor again. If I was Lyons, I would move him off the anchor desk ASAP and put Jim in his place. While such a move could hurt morale, people should be in positions which showcase their strengths. Sargent has a law degree. I’m surprised they never utilized that in some way. Yeah… I’m cautiously optimistic things will turn around at WBBM. Given what happened to her at NewsNation, I hope she is given the freedom (and resources) to do whatever it takes to improve things without any interfering from corporate. We shall see…
  4. It would make sense for Alicia to succeed Andy, but you never really know with WMAQ.
  5. No surprise. Figured it was just a matter of time.
  6. Out of the bunch...Charlie and Mugo are clear standouts. Weekday afternoons/nights are in dire need of a shakeup and moving Jim and Marie to front the 4P (and maybe the 6P), would be a huge step in the right direction for WBBM. But alas, big changes like that may be left up to the new GM to make.
  7. No. His bio is still listed. I think it makes sense to align NewsNation Prime with the other programs (The Donlon Report, Banfield, etc..) and just have a single person as 'the face' of said program. That said, I still think they will move him to the new morning show.
  8. Yes. Not sure why they couldn’t just pair Jim and Marie together for the new 4P newscast and have Mugo do Saturday nights and Charlie on Sunday night.
  9. Variety says it’s nightly, so I trust they’re correct. Otherwise, what’s the point of having Abrams on one day a week? On Balance could easily move to weekends.
  10. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move Rob, Marni (and Albert) to the upcoming morning show. It’s clear having an evening newscast isn’t working for them.
  11. Interesting.... Mark was on yesterday, so maybe something is up with Cody. I believe she's pregnant (she looks like it anyway). Maybe she's taking some time off for some reason. Or worse case scenario; her contract is up and they didn't renew.
  12. Not really. This change was likely going to occur no matter the circumstances. I hope that with these changes; they abandon swapping out the color blue for red for breaking news coverage.
  13. Overall, a nice improvement. I like the simple blue, white and grey combination. Not a fan of the new music cuts/tracks.
  14. Newsmax Anchor Greg Kelly's Racially Charged Tweets Under Review By Far-Right Channel
  15. Having 1 main studio and mini one upstairs wouldn’t be enough for NN, so it makes sense for them to take over Studio 1. The days of indoor presentation/performance space is likely over for WGN. I would expect them to utilize space outdoors (weather permitting) for such things (or within their own studio/space).
  16. It’s my understanding NewsNation is expected to use that studio/space for their morning newscast (and other programs possibly). Unlikely WGN would have access to the studio after construction work is complete, but you never know.
  17. Fox Weather names executive team, eyes Q3 launch
  18. You’re correct. Seems like a waste of money to only keep changing this part of the set and not the whole thing.
  19. Not sure why they won’t just go ahead and do a complete overhaul of the set. It’s long overdue for a remodel. Nevertheless, I like this new area.

    In Memoriam

Former WMAQ-TV Political Editor Dick Kay, dead at 84 'NBC 5's former longtime political editor Dick Kay, who spent decades holding Chicago's powerful accountable, passed away Thursday at the age of 84. Kay's family said he "passed quietly" of natural causes during the early morning hours Thursday.'
  21. Dick Kay, former political editor, dead at 84 Kay was the best of the best of political editors/reporters in Chicago. Truly, one-of -a-kind.
  22. Leaving his Mark: Giangreco's story plays out like no other...
  23. Sylvia did the Noon show from Studio 32 (instead of the main studio) today. Likely some work is being done in the main studio (or something new they’re trying out). Also, this OTS is pretty cool and I think the first time they have used it (first time I’ve seen it anyway).
  24. I agree. Hopefully, the new leader of both CBS News and the O&Os can help provide a much needed vision for the future. Women are the face of nearly every news program currently on CBS, so I can’t see them pushing Norah aside for a guy or adding a male co-anchor on CBSEN.
