Classic Inside Edition from 1990. LONG close of their first Kalehoff theme. (DOWNLOAD WHILE YOU CAN)
EDIT: Just discovered an even longer one (I think it’s virtually the entire closing cut). If you can make it through the animatronics, you’re golden.

Too bad Al had the week off. But surely he earned that.

I don't think that's what he means. I think he means that he wants to turn WKYC into a mini-NBC. Meaning good journalism, good production, and good shows.
Just gotta take it easy with the fluff and the gimmicks. Between Cleveland 19 and what passes as TV 5, things could be worse.

Why infamous?
WMC in my opinion is the Memphis market’s only saving grace, I hate the rest of the stations... especially how crappy WHBQ was in the early 90s.
Not disagreeing. Just detected the “Friendly 5” signature in it. But Tuba and Trombone in G major was a pretty unique theme, to say the least.

In the early 1980s, Memphis' WMC did a promo series dubbed "Friendly 5", which based on the comments, was pretty popular by viewers in the market. There were a few versions of it:
*The main "Carriage Promo", featuring promo composer Floyd Huddleston and Jimi Jameson of the group Survivor.
*The "Summer Fun" promo featuring meteorologist Dave Brown and folks having fun outdoors.
*And the "Marching Band Promo", featuring the then-Memphis State marching band, whom played the entire theme instead of studio musicians.
Suddenly that
theme makes sense.- 3

Yeah, the slogan's kind of clunky. One other thing, they included the date in the open. Including the current date in pre-open newscast teasers was unfortunately something that went out in the late 1990s; KTRK's graphics packages in the 1980s are the only instances I can think of in which the date was included in the main opening sequence.
That aside. It all looks so good, you forget the corporate overlords that own them. (Mission statement notwithstanding)

I’ll raise you an ATV, Hulkie. For a time, this was used to open up the broadcast day in the Midlands. (Two different sequences, but the same song. While the first one is focused on two children and an adorable dog, the second one is endless aerial shots of the region.)
It would’ve lasted a long time, had the Independent Broadcasting Authority interfered. (“NO LYRICS!”) But the song is...you get the idea.

WAGA Fox 5 Eyewitness News (no longer Prime Time, just at 10:00) / 3.3.1998
Sounds like they added extra percussion to the orchestral theme.

Let’s steer this back to normal.
Part aircheck, part resynch, slight composite (the first few seconds of each open are taken from Jax)

#MeanwhileInOrlando, WKMG (News6GettingResults) expands to the 9:00am hour next month. All three of their anchors - Bridgett Ellison, Julie Broughton, and Candace Campos - share different experiences and specialities, but also are working mothers, which, according to GM Jeff Hoffman, “allow them to use the breadth of their knowledge to ask questions and get answers that will ultimately get results for all of our viewers.” The new newscast will debut July 2, with solely Broughton and Campos (Ellison is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her second child).

The latter era of the two Bobs at the Big 9.
(Mike speak for WFTV circa 1986 with Bob Jordan and Bob Opsahl, both enjoying well deserved retirement)
Among the stories reported, the first in a special series of reports about the unrest in Central America, a resort tax increase which eventually paid for what was the Amway Arena, and reaction from the neighbors (same as it was with the Orlando City Stadium). Featuring Bud Hedinger (who took Bob O’s job and lost it a few years after; but bounced to
and), Danny Treanor (who also bounced to Spectrum News, then to WKMG); and a strong voiceover by Thom Allen.- 2
