The last half hour of Big 13’s Good Day Tampa Bay.
From 1996.

Cross-promotion - no sooner said than done. They just did a piece on the entire Today family welcoming her (complete with a toast).
*Because of Live with Kelly and Ryan, we in Orlando still get the 3rd and 4th hours at 10 and 11.

#MeanwhileInPhoenix... how much 7 Boston/Miami have they been watching? Ugh.

Skip to 20:40 - WRC News 4 (Washington) open.
How long has Vance been there again?

Programming Changes are happening at Orlando's CBS station WKMG.
The Orlando Sentinel stated that the station decided to move Let's Make A Deal from 10am to 3pm (after The Talk). The station hope this show would lead viewers to its 4pm newscasts.
Rachael Ray will move from 9am to 10am, and Crime Watch Daily will move from 3pm to 9am.

It's happened.
Whether it be network browbeating or local management being a bit more optimistic about their network morning news now, WWL has started carrying CBS This Morning.

Didn't realize KENS did a 'audible chit chat during the close' thing. And they did it for years and years. Found one as late as 2000. Awkward conversations but a priceless tradition.

ABC's 50th anniversary special from 2003. News segments are on 1:01:58 (Barbara Walters retrospective leading into a GMA retrospective with Diane Sawyer), 2:03:39 (bloopers with Charles Gibson) and 2:39:16 (Jennings and Koppel). Also at the tail end, WFTV open with Opsahl and Salt which is longer on my main channel (
- forgive the slight video slowdown at the beginning).- 3

Therefore, the Echols-Warmoth pairing is broken up AGAIN and it looks like that Warmoth goes from sports to morning news to 4 and 11pm news to main evening news.
In my opinion, the Echols-Warmoth pairing is the best thing they've got going for them. Now more than ever, longevity is key in this business, and they've been a team largely on and kinda off since 1997 (though we could split hairs and say they've been together since 1994, I believe, on the weekend shift). No offense to Martha Sugalski - I met her once when she was at WESH, and she was very warm - but why mess with what works? If anything, they could've kept Echols and Warmoth at 4, and have Estevez with Sugalski at 5 - they have a good rapport as well. Then again, Estevez gels with anyone easy. Watch him with Nancy Alvarez if you don't believe me.

Meanwhile in Orlando, the recently refreshed WFTV has announced Bob Opsahl's retirement. His last newscasts, after 38 years, will happen May 27th. The following Monday, Greg Warmoth will assume duties at 5 and 6, in addition to the 11pm. Jorge Estevez will replace Warmoth on the 4pm.

Meanwhile in Orlando, Old Man Treanor is officially out of retirement. Danny Treanor, who was former weatherman at WFTV and News 13, was recently freelancing at WKMG; effective this weekend, he'll be sticking around the station for a while (specifically weekends at 6/6:30 and 11).
Also, Madeline Evans, who has been working behind the scenes as a weather producer will handle weekend morning duties starting next weekend.
As for Elizabeth Hart, she has departed the station "to pursue other tv opportunities".

Boston's FOX 25 (WFXT) has found a new evening anchor. Vanessa Welch of Orlando's WFTV is joining the Cox owned station
as Maria Stephanos replacement. Welch will co-anchor with Mark Ockerbloom at 5, 6 & 10PM beginning December 1st.

I find that surprising. One week back and another week gone again. But we all know Cox likes promoting within. More the "experience doing stories" angle than the "experience within the town" angle. (For better examples, see Jacksonville.) I know Cox is trying their damndest to mold 25 in their own image, but as mentioned numerous times, what works in one market may not exactly work in another.
On a related note, maybe they can stop with those IDs they've been airing since before she was on maternity leave. That aside, best wishes to her (and meterologist/husband Jason Brewer, who's leaving WESH).

Not bad at all. Goodbye ABC News logo on top and ABC News text on bottom. (NEVER understood it)
-
As long as there's some kind of brand improvement that comes with it (however major [graphics and music improvement] or minor [slightly modified logo]), all for it. It's not like they could do much worse. Remember THE 6:00 News?
On another note...
Cleveland 19 News is go. Monday at noon.
The $1,000,000 question. Will they finally use their 19 station logo, or keep their blah 19 news logo?
-
I'm surprised nobody picked up on this.
Josh Benson, after stints here at WFTV and WFOR (and a heavy falling out with the latter) resurfaced in Tampa last week - WFLA at 4:00 and 5:30.

The formup of the main logo is a disaster, but that is the O&O look.
I would rather have that WFSB.com lozenge disappear, so the 3 can align downward. It would look so much better.

WJZs chroma cues drive me crazy. To me their sonic branding is like nails on a chalkboard to a teacher.
Music remains [with the damn DONG]. But there's a missed opportunity - for the ID, a nice instrumental bed that could've built up to an updated Chroma Cues track. But no. (Oh, and the animations have, typically, gotten worse)
Does anybody secretly wish WJZ could fall in the ratings so CBS can override their look? It's practically begging for death.

WSB too. [i wish the two 7's - SVN and HDH - got him back. Paul Turner don't fit]

Since everyone was doing compilations, I figured I should join in. ALMOST every Inside Edition open since debut [with a tidbit here and there]

It was definitely used for weekdays around that time. With a female voiceover for a while too - I know because even before the Charlie/Diane/Robin era, we've always had it on there (our house, then and now, is a channel 9 house).
-
Initials - Looks like they just pasted on the Eyewitness News name instead of just natively animating it with the open (read WWL) - don't like it.
And instead of just putting KENS5.com in rotation with the logo bug, again, Eyewitness News. I guess that's kinda breaking the mold, since 99% of the other Gannett stations rotate the main logo with the website.

#MeanwhileInOrlando...
Obviously, with big Billi making himself at home here, Fox 35 has gone whole hog with with being WSVN Central Florida, slogan, teases, studio setup and all. But with transforming into "The News Station" of Orlando comes a different sound.
This is today's 5:00 open; you can hear the bumper cut with a peculiar SoFla influence. But if you listen closely to the open... SOUNDS like Inergy. But it isn’t.
And the 6:00 open has that unmistakable rock sound. Could this be the long-rumored Stephen Arnold Fox package everyone's been talking about?
(As you can also hear, they still use the OSI pack. On a related note, I messaged Big 13 today about them possibly going back to Impact. From what they tell me, they have to toe the line, Skytower and Phoenix be damned)
