2. VARTV.com reported on its Twitter page today that WJAX/WFOX (Jacksonville) reporter Deanna Bettineschi will be joining WAVY in Hampton Roads. 4. WRIC, WNCT and WAVY's websites have the new look.
5. Another one's leaving Buffalo's WIVB: this time it's weekend anchor Callan Gray. She'll be leaving the station in a few weeks. http://buffalonews.com/2018/03/22/ch-4-weekend-anchor-gray-is-leaving-in-a-few-weeks/ ...and meanwhile in Hampton Roads, WAVY anchor/reporter Deanna LeBlanc has announced that she's not returning to the station from maternity leave. Meanwhile, WNCN meteorologist Kristin Ketchell ends her fill-in time at WAVY. Ashley Baylor was on maternity leave and she'll return this week.
8. Plus, WNCN got a brand-new set, too. I like it!
9. It appears that Nexstar pulled its stations' live streaming from the NewsOn apps and WatchNewsOn.com. It was replaced with "Unfortunately, ____ is no longer available on NewsOn. For ____'s coverage on NewsOn, you can tune into ____." or "We're working to add another station in the area as soon as possible" or a black screen. The stations' logos were replaced by the NewsOn logo.
10. WUSA 9's new website went live last week.
11. Nalina Shapiro is leaving Buffalo's WIVB after the end of February sweeps. Her boyfriend, WGRZ sports anchor/reporter Jonah Javad will join WFAA after WGRZ's Winter Olympics coverage is over. Shapiro is pursuing a job outside of TV in Dallas. http://buffalonews.com/2018/02/08/ch-4-anchor-shapiro-telling-colleagues-she-is-leaving/ http://buffalonews.com/2017/12/11/source-jonah-javad-verbally-agrees-to-join-dallas-station/
12. WAVY's sister station WVBT FOX43 has added Cozi TV to 43.2.
13. About time someone picked up Connection. I wonder if they're slowly transitioning to the blue graphics. WIAT's been using the open (WTNH graphics) since 2014 after the "WIAT 42 News" rebranding.
14. Dish Network has been carrying Buzzr on Channel 245 since last year.
15. To Roanoke! WDBJ's local version of CBS' "Welcome Home To A CBS Night" ("Welcome Home to a 'DBJ Night!") image campaign from 1996... ...and a local version of "The Address is CBS" ("The Address is 'DBJ!") image campaign from 1998. WDBJ's Mornin' open from 1992... ...and one from 2000.
16. WWBT's Colleen Quigley will join WRAL in Raleigh next month as a reporter according to VARTV... WBOY's (North-Central West Virginia) Natalie Kalibat has joined sister station WRIC as the sports anchor. Speaking of WRIC, sports director Mitch Carr has left the station. We have more sad news: Remember WNKY's popular Radar the Weather Dog? Sadly, the four-legged television personality passed away (or as we pet owners say, crossed the rainbow bridge) a couple days ago. He was 16. The Border Collie was introduced to South-Central Kentucky viewers back in 2005 after he was rescued by the local shelter and the rest was history. My condolences go out to the folks at WNKY in Bowling Green. http://www.wnky.com/story/37140670/in-memory-radar-the-weather-dog
17. Meanwhile in Hampton Roads, WAVY reporters Erin Kelly and Liz Kilmer left the station. Kelly is heading to WVTM in Birmingham, while Kilmer is heading north but can't say where...yet (VARTV's words, not mine).
18. WCAV (Charlottesville) anchor/reporter Sefe Emokpae left the station last week, reported VARTV.com
19. WSPA 7 in Greenville/Spartanburg has a brand-new slogan: Carolina's Family. Someone in that station likes KTVK...
20. From Hampton Roads: WVEC morning and noon anchor Andre Senior is leaving the station in mid-December... ...meanwhile in Pittsburgh, WPXI weekend morning anchor Brittny McGraw is heading to Roanoke's WSLS 10 soon.
21. A KPTV short close from 2008. Can't find an open but NMSA has audio of it. The NMSA listed it as "KPTV 2006 News Theme", but the theme is actually a production music track called "Up Front Now" by Megatrax, part of the "Broadcast News" disc (MX160).
22. Meanwhile in Buffalo, Brittni Smallwood is leaving WIVB after five years. http://buffalonews.com/2017/08/29/ch-4s-smallwood-exits-ch-4/ http://buffalonews.com/2017/08/30/smallwood-may-eventually-return-tv-news-buffalo-rochester/
23. Meanwhile in Nashville, WSMV's Rudy Kalis announced his retirement Tuesday. According to the Tennessean, Kalis will continue to work through the football season and then handle freelance assignments for Channel 4. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/8/16/hanging-it-up-in-nashville http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/2017/08/15/sportscaster-rudy-kalis-retires/571064001/
24. WOW. All that's missing is a Scott Chapin voiceover. "12 News at 10 starts...NOW!" or "THIS... is 12 News at 10!"
25. Scott Levin is returning to Buffalo's WGRZ next month. Remember, Levin left the station less than three months ago for a job in the auto industry. Looks like he had a change of heart. http://www.wgrz.com/entertainment/television/scott-levin-to-return-to-2-on-your-side/463342321 http://buffalonews.com/2017/08/10/levin-change-heart-returning-ch-2/
