1. History will be made in Buffalo next month on WGRZ: TWO women will split the duties on the weekday evening newscasts! Maria Genero will do early evenings (5 to 6:30pm) while Heather Waldman will do the 10pm (on WUTV) and 11pm newscasts. They'll replace Kevin O'Connell who left the station earlier this month. Good for them! http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/7/26/its-ladies-night https://buffalonews.com/2018/07/25/wgrzs-genero-waldman-to-make-local-tv-history-after-oconnells-departure/
2. WWBT meteorologist Ros Runner announced he's exiting the station in September after 8 1/2 years. Before WWBT, he was on WTVR and WSLS. 3. So did WWBT. Plus, I just learned a part of Central and Southside Virginia has Spectrum (for example: Sussex, Isle of Wight and Southampton counties)
4. WGRZ's Kevin O'Connell is departing the station after 25 years. https://buffalonews.com/2018/07/13/kevin-oconnell-is-departing-channel-2-after-25-years/ (disable AdBlock)
5. Lorenzo Hall (formerly of WTVR and soon WTIC) is heading to WUSA 9... ...and also, I missed this news: there's another departure at WRIC. Anchor/reporter Amy Lacey left the station last week after 14 years.
6. WFXR (Roanoke) sports anchor Jermaine Ferrell is leaving the station. He will be joining WRIC here in Richmond as weekend sports anchor. https://www.virginiafirst.com/sports/local-sports/jermaine-ferrell-says-goodbye-to-wfxr-news/1245756434 Speaking of WRIC, evening anchor Christina Feerick will be leaving the station - and Richmond television - at the end of August. Oh, and speaking of WWBT: I forgot to mention that Anthony Antoine has joined the station recently as anchor/reporter. He comes from WCIA in Central Illinois (Champaign/Urbana/Springfield). He left WCIA last month.
7. KWQC anchor Gary Metivier is leaving the station. He made the announcement Tuesday. https://qconline.com/news/local/kwqc-news-anchor-to-leave-station/article_287d3d98-c67e-5b99-a0f4-52e83deaacbb.html

9. The NMSA uploaded a montage of C Clarity on its website.
10. Let's get back on topic, shall we? Kayla Gaskins has joined WAVY as an anchor and reporter. EDIT: She comes from WJHG in Panama City, FL
11. VARTV.com reported on its Twitter page today that WJAX/WFOX (Jacksonville) reporter Deanna Bettineschi will be joining WAVY in Hampton Roads. Meanwhile, WENY (Elmira) sports director Jenna Harner will be joining Buffalo's WIVB. http://buffalonews.com/2018/04/02/ch-4-hires-new-sports-reporter-from-elmira-to-replace-shepherd/

13. WRIC, WNCT and WAVY's websites have the new look.
14. Another one's leaving Buffalo's WIVB: this time it's weekend anchor Callan Gray.
17. Plus, WNCN got a brand-new set, too. I like it!
18. It appears that Nexstar pulled its stations' live streaming from the NewsOn apps and WatchNewsOn.com. It was replaced with "Unfortunately, ____ is no longer available on NewsOn. For ____'s coverage on NewsOn, you can tune into ____." or "We're working to add another station in the area as soon as possible" or a black screen. The stations' logos were replaced by the NewsOn logo.
19. Nalina Shapiro is leaving Buffalo's WIVB after the end of February sweeps. Her boyfriend, WGRZ sports anchor/reporter Jonah Javad will join WFAA after WGRZ's Winter Olympics coverage is over. Shapiro is pursuing a job outside of TV in Dallas. http://buffalonews.com/2018/02/08/ch-4-anchor-shapiro-telling-colleagues-she-is-leaving/ http://buffalonews.com/2017/12/11/source-jonah-javad-verbally-agrees-to-join-dallas-station/
20. I mentioned in the Nexstar thread that WIAT's been using the open since 2014 after the "WIAT 42" rebranding and the switch to 615 Music's Impact. I'm guessing WIAT has been using the blue graphics since last year although the lower thirds still remain the same. The only thing they used the WFLA graphics package is when they mention their mobile news or weather app during their newscasts. They're probably transitioning to the new ones very slowly.
21. WAVY's sister station WVBT FOX43 has added Cozi TV to 43.2.
22. About time someone picked up Connection. I wonder if they're slowly transitioning to the blue graphics. WIAT's been using the open (WTNH graphics) since 2014 after the "WIAT 42 News" rebranding.
23. Dish Network has been carrying Buzzr on Channel 245 since last year.
24. To Roanoke! WDBJ's local version of CBS' "Welcome Home To A CBS Night" ("Welcome Home to a 'DBJ Night!") image campaign from 1996... ...and a local version of "The Address is CBS" ("The Address is 'DBJ!") image campaign from 1998. WDBJ's Mornin' open from 1992... ...and one from 2000.
