1. Sinclair's "pink-slip express" heads to West Virginia. WCHS/WVAH (Charleston) anchor Stefano DiPetrantonio was let go. His bio is gone from the website. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/1/20/sinclair-sacks-another-one Meanwhile, three new stations joined the NewsOn app: WHAM in Rochester, KVII in Amarillo and KRNV in Reno.

His bio is gone from the website. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/1/20/sinclair-sacks-another-one Meanwhile at WPIX in New York, meteorologist Linda Church is retiring. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/longtime-meteorologist-retiring-from-wpix/184571
3. Catie Beck of WXIA and formerly of WTVR will be NBC News' new correspondent. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/atlanta-investigative-reporter-jumps-to-network/183898
4. What? WRLH haven't switched to the current graphics and 615's Sinclair theme yet! I'm still waiting.
5. WGRZ weather anchor Kevin O'Connell - who originally planned to exit the station this month - is delaying his retirement until June 2018. http://buffalonews.com/2017/01/05/ch-2s-oconnell-delays-retirement-june-2018/
6.
Noticed in my FIOS program guide the other day that WTVR now has a 6:30pm newscast with no mention of CBS-EN at all. While it did air at 6:30 followed by the 7pm news, I wonder if they're planning to bump CBS-EN to 7 after the new year and have a two hour block of local news from 5-7?
Same thing with the Comcast and Screener (formerly Zap2It) program guides. It's been like that for a while. I was like "WTVR doesn't have a local weeknight 6:30 newscast. Something's not right here..." EDIT: @WSVNFan already answered your question. Never mind.

In Memoriam

Longtime WLTV (Miami's Univision affiliate) anchor Guillermo Benites passed away Saturday morning after battling an undisclosed illness. Benites retired in September 2015 after 39 years with the station. http://www.mediamoves.com/2016/12/guillermo-benites-dies-illness.html
8. Another departure at Indianapolis' WISH: Eboni Deon (formerly of The Weather Channel and Al Jazeera America) is leaving the station and returning to Orlando's WFTV. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/meteorologist-eboni-deon-leaving-wish-for-orlando/182401 Meanwhile, Charlie LeDuff is leaving Detroit's WJBK. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/charlie-leduff-leaves-wjbk/182396
9. Wow, that's great news for them. Watertown's the last market in New York state to have full NBC network service.
10. Sad to hear about Gwen Ifill's passing. Rest in peace. Meanwhile in Raleigh, WRAL censored last Saturday's SNL (already mentioned in chat). http://www.newsobserver.com/entertainment/tv/warm-tv-blog/article114508293.html
11. WFMY airs CBS This Morning from 8-10am after The Good Morning Show, a program that's been around since the late 1950s. I know it's a Piedmont Triad tradition and all, but will it be next to move CTM to 7am (meaning cutting an hour of TGMS)?
12. Two more Sinclair stations joined the NewsOn bandwagon today. From NewsOn's Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=865426013560860
13. WFAA streams it on their website and on NewsOn (search WFAA).
14. Two opens from WBRC's (Birmingham) "Total News" era (1981)... ...and WAFF (Huntsville) opens from 1981.
15. Remember Charlo Green, the reporter who quit her job on the air a few years ago at Anchorage's KTVA with the words "F**k it, I quit" and owns a cannabis club? Well... she could face up to 50+ years in prison. FTVLive: http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2016/10/3/fuck-it-reporter-faces-50-years-in-prison The Inquisitor: http://www.inquisitr.com/3558688/54-years-for-pot-former-tv-reporter-could-face-jail-time-for-running-pot-club/
16. They're currently doing the news in the newsroom. WRIC's new set will be coming next month according to meteorologist Katie Dupree's Facebook post from September 9th. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=976778989114324
17. WCCO 4 News at 6pm open from 2004
18. WTCN (now KARE; Minneapolis- St. Paul): NewsCenter 11 Weekend Report (Jan. 16, 1983; ID & open starts at 1:23) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TwFvukO-uQ WWBT (Richmond, VA): 12 News at 6 from August 7, 1993. The top story was the aftermath of the tornado that hit Colonial Heights and the Old Towne area of Petersburg (my hometown).
19. WCTE (Cookeville, TN) Upper Cumberland Tonight open. The open is now on the NMSA but listed it as the "WCTE 1991 News Theme". It's actually PBS' "Just Watch Us Now" theme ( ) from the early 1990s. Speaking of that, here is WFWA's (Fort Wayne, IN; also a PBS station) sign-off. The instrumental version of the "Just Watch Us Now" theme starts at the 0:57 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=kZ6azNe_A2U;t=57
20. VARTV.com's Twitter reports that WRIC meteorologist Tim Pandajis is leaving the station after four years to join Norfolk's WVEC. He will be the new meteorologist for 13 News Now Daybreak. He replaces Craig Moeller who left the station for KSDK recently. EDIT (8/29): Dang it! I mean KSDK, not KMOV. Changed it (thanks for the correction, @WAVY 10 )!
21. WFTS NewsCheck with Andrea McDaniel (1983). I didn't know she did the news in Tampa Bay. She later anchored and reported for Richmond's WWBT until the late 2000's.
22. Both WMSN's and WRLH's websites have a new look. FINALLY. http://fox47.com/ http://foxrichmond.com/ Now will they please dump Daily News and get Glass or Curves. Daily News is still a good news music package and all but it's ten years old. Plus those graphics on the two stations have got to go! It's like Sinclair forgot about them or something. EDIT: WTVZ's (Hampton Roads) website has the new look as well. http://mytvz.com/
23. 10am? It's great that WTKR has a new local talk show, but I think they should put Coast Live at 9am and move Let's Make A Deal to 10am (most CBS affiliates air the game show at that timeslot). LMAD has been at 9am since Ellen moved to 3pm a few years ago.
24. Sinclair adds eight new stations to NewsOn: KUTV in Salt Lake City, WOAI and KABB in San Antonio, KEYE in Austin, WLOS in Asheville, WPEC in West Palm Beach, WZTV in Nashville and WSYX's sister station WTTE in Columbus.
