  1. Not sure how Suki will vibe in the long term. I could see her angling for a bigger spot in due time. She's not one to play second fiddle.

    So far we know:

Suki and Jenn will be in studio 4:30-7 and reporting for GDNY after that (will be weird to see Suki report from in the field.)

Teresa has been re-assigned to evening reporter. Nothing yet on Antwan but I'd assume either the same or maybe returning to anchoring weekend evenings.

  2. I have nothing against Scott but it makes no sense to return him to weeknight sports. It's not that crucial of a role. Yes, he isn't a fit for the morning show so just let him go and eat the contract. Andy is doing just fine in the evenings.

As far as putting Mannarino in the morning anchor chair, that would be a mistake. If anything, they should move Muller to mornings and slot Kory in his place in the evening.

  3. I wonder about chris Jansing and if she is returning to anchoring. Sounds like a big demotion for Kelly O'Donnell like they are just switching Kasie Hunt for her.

There's a 20 year age difference between Kelly and Kasie. Sad to think but true.

  4. Hopefully the bi-coastal relationship works out. If it becomes strained over time, Stacey could leave or take a reduced role. I hope not, as she's one of the best talents they have.

And absolutely true given the instability of NFL HC's and now the Chargers franchise, its smart for Stacey to at least keep her job in NYC for the time being.

  5. I'd be cautious if I were her. Didn't she leave the first time because her husband got a job in Buffalo that didn't really pan out?

Sort of, yes. He probably could have stayed and gotten the top job in Buffalo for next season (he was interim head coach), but the Chargers probably offered a better deal. However I don't see Stacey participating in a bi-coastal marriage, simply based on her past actions. She left a good anchor job in Cleveland when her husband left the Browns for the Jets, and that's how she ended up in NY news. When her husband got the job in Buffalo, she left to head up there.

  6. I still don't believe it was completely's Sibila's choice to leave. Maybe she had the option to remain on at 5 pm and was being taken off the 11 pm like what happened to Shiba Russel and then she decided to leave. Even if Natalie were to last only a couple years she could at least she say she had one of the top anchor jobs in the number 1 television market. Not many people can say that.

It definitely was her choice. Sibila was excellent and really helped return stability to that newscast. It's a shame she left.

Stacey Bell is returning to WNBC as noon & 5 pm co-anchor:

So glad Stacey is back, that was quick! She is pure class and WNBC is better for having her. She could have easily slotted in at 11pm.

Interesting to note that Stacey's husband is a coach on Rex Ryan'a staff in Buffalo (that's why she left WNBC in the first place.) He followed him there when Rex went from the Jets to the Bills. I assume that's Stacey taking this job insinuates that Rex and his staff (including Stacey's husband) won't be retained next season. Seems like Stacey is gambling they won't be in Buffalo much longer.

  7. Yeah, I know Sibila left on her own. But you can say no. You don't take something just because its offered to you. I'm happy for her star rising but from previous experience I personally wouldn't have bet on taking that job. I would have waited a couple more years.

You don't turn down these opportunities because they might never come again. There is risk in every job...

This if Sibila's husband hadn't been presented with that business opportunity im sure she would still be co-anchoring the 11 pm newscast for years to come.

    That's exactly what I said.

  8. Wow. What a rapid rise for Natalie. Good for her.

If I was Natalie, I wouldn't have taken this job. They haven't had a stable co-anchor there since 2012 when Sue left. Shiba, Sibila, and now Natalie.

When you're offered a spot on the flagship newscast, you don't say no. Period. Plus, Sibila left truly on her own accord. There is no reason to suggest Sibila couldn't have been on that newscast for the next ten years.

  9. There was something off about her departure. First of all, the timing of her departure in regards to Ailes' resignation definitely has relevance on this situation. Juliet was deeply entrenched in Fox News for nearly two decades.

Her goodbye was also very odd. She didn't anchor but they had her on at the end of the show? That's quite uncommon.

Juliet brought a veteran presence to the early morning and she will be missed.

  10. Wow, if Juliet is really gone, that is pretty remarkable. It's no secret that her and brother John (now a foreign correspondent at FNC) received preferential treatment by their godfather Roger Ailes, but Juliet was quite enjoyable on GDWU. This is a pretty decisive move by management. It makes you wonder what could happen to Dari Alexander (another one who was protected by Ailes) in the coming months.

  11. http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/good-morning-america-michael-strahan-live-audience-1201846717/

ABC is set to launch a new era at its flagship morning program as it seeks to differentiate itself from rivals and grapples with viewership declines. When Michael Strahan, the seemingly ubiquitous talk-show host and sports commentator, joins “GMA” full time on September 6th, the program will add a live audience to its last half hour and also potentially use some of its hosts in new ways.

Starting next Thursday during the last half hour of the program, “GMA” hosts will move to a new set that has been constructed on the second floor of the show’s Times Square studio, and interact with approximately 100 audience members. The format will allow “GMA” hosts like Lara Spencer, Strahan and others to interact with a crowd, and create a more energetic atmosphere, said Corn. “With an audience, it’s a lot looser in terms of how we can use our anchors."
  12. I was not being snippy nor picking a fight. I was stating that it had already been posted, something many others have done before. I don't think that's grounds for getting kicked out. I responded with the insult after anchorman93 insulted me first. Sure, perhaps there was no need for my response, just as there was no need for anchorman93's response.

A little creepy that you follow me that much to accuse me of lurking around and calling out other's missteps. And aren't you doing that very thing right now yourself?

Thank you for being honest. I actually think you did me a favor. I've been a member of this forum for 8 years and have been debating leaving for a while. That time has come. :)

I don't know where you're trying to go with this. Are you saying I've told somebody to jump off a cliff and die, or are you telling me to do so? Because I've never said any such thing nor would I joke about such a thing, and I most certainly would get no thrill out of it.

I live a happy life and enjoy all life has to offer. I enjoy my work and have other hobbies (both of which I will encourage others to do). I thank God everyday for where I am in my life.

And why do you assume I am a sir and not a ma'am? Just saying!

With that being said, I've enjoyed my past 8 years here on TVNewsTalk (through the ups and downs). Thank you to the creators and moderators of the forum. Thank you to all the posters (including the ones that got on my nerves). I'm sorry to anyone I have offended over the past 8 years, and good luck to those of you who continue to be a part of this forum! And you're welcome to the people who are thrilled that I'm leaving. :p Good-bye!!!

    Bye!

See you when you're back in a few weeks.

  13. If ABC were smart, they'd move Lara Spencer off GMA and onto The View. Kill two birds with one stone, give Lara some fancy title with red carpet specials in addition to The View and you're all set.

  14. On the contrary. She was an employee/aide to a political figure. He only made a donation to a foundation, not a candidate/political figure.

Not sure what's so hard to understand here. George was ALSO an employee/aide to a political figure. Then he gave $75,000 to a foundation which is now under much scrutiny for it's soliciting of donations from foreign governments. His conflict of interest--if we're calling it that--was and is far worse than Diane's ever was.

  15. Diane Sawyer was a press aide to President Nixon (and once thought to be a candidate for Woodward and Bernstein's "deep throat" informant), so CBS should've never hired her for 60 Minutes.

Your argument holds no water. Diane didn't make a nearly six figure donation to a a "foundation" the way George did.

  16. Why does everyone always predict host changes? I could see Candace leaving and maybe Raven but do we have any proof or even any credible speculation? I would say Paula already fills the conservative chair so they wouldn't necessarily need to bring someone else in. I don't know why she's still allowed to host GMA since she's sold herself to political commentary

So then George shouldn't be allowed to anchor because he's worked for the Clintons and donated $75,000 to their foundation, right?
