Former Good Day New York (and News 12 LI) anchors Ron Corning and Jodi Applegate re-united last night. Applegate joined Corning, who is now the morning show anchor for Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA, as co-host for the channels New Years Eve show.

It is amazing how much better Ernie Anastos is when Dari is out. He has excellent chemistry with Sharon Crowley (as well as Christina Park) and he actually seems to be enjoying himself. With Dari he is just subdued and forced.

John Marshall is back at WCBS for a few months covering Vanessa.

Dick Brennan and Alice Gainer are a fantastic team and did awesome filling in at 5,6, and 11 this week.

I don't think Bill's planning to retire anytime soon. But, when he does, you guys really think David will replace him? I think David fits well for a morning or afternoon show (i.e. in his current role or replacing Ken), but I have a hard time envisioning him as the anchor who is the face of the station's news coverage. Even Rob Powers fits that role better, I think.
Also, don't forget about Rob Nelson. Who knows what'll happen with him down the road.
I think they have bigger plans for Rob Nelson than weekend mornings.
-
Agreed.
There is no indication that we will soon but when Bill Ritter retires, I'd like David to replace Bill at 6 and Rob to replace Bill at 11.
Then you have...
Liz and David at 4&6
Diana and Sade at 5
Sade and Rob at 11
That's assuming Diana still doesn't want to do the 11.
-
On another note, I don't like whomever is doing these voice overs.
It's almost certain that David will replace Bill on the 6 & 11. Rob would maybe get the 4, however they could also have David do the 4, 6, and 11
like Jim Rosenfield does now in Philly. I would love for Diana to return to 11, but I doubt she wants to.

Um... Rob Nelson just departed the ABC News national network in order to join WABC-TV's local Eyewitness News.
I definitely think we are seeing the start of something big for him at WABC-TV. He has carefully honed his skills over his career and is very much lead anchor material.
Um..Rob Powers.

WABC has Lee in tonight doing weather along with Jeff, Rob is in for Joe. Rob is really making a case to become a lead anchor at some point...if ABC News doesn't scoop him up first.

They have re-done their social ticker so it's now above the FOX5 logo, fades in between Facebook, Twitter, myfoxNY.com links. Not as fast as the other stations, it's definitely better done than both WCBS and WABC.
-
Probably filling the Jeff Pegues opening. He joins from CBS in Philly.

WABC has a ways to go in social media and website-wise. WCBS and WNBC are way ahead."#EyewitnessNews"... Yeah. Totally propiety to WABC. KYW uses... Oh yeah. EyewitnessNews too.7online? Seriously??? Why not ABC7ny.com? Oh wait! They own that... That makes far more sense. (@ABC7NY #ABC7NY, What's the big deal?! Better Branding)
I think they chose 7Online for those people who were not familiar with computers to access their website on a computer. Makes no sense!

I find that it is unnecessary but it is definitely not worse than the WCBS social graphic. That one is very hard to see, and it changes way too quickly. This one is somewhat similar to the KABC and WNBC social graphic.
I agree WCBS' is small and too quick however that can be fixed and to looks more natural with the gfx package. WABC's looks cheap and the abc7 bug looks squeezed I'm between the upper and lower tickers. Poorly done.
-
It is likely part of a new graphics package, which we have been expecting for about a month now... looks just like the KABC graphic below the bug
That bug is distracting and looks terrible on WCBS.
WABC actually found a way to make their's even worse. Very unnecessary.

You know, after watching Heather these past 8 months and having Joe back for the week, I have to say, I think both are great but I think Heather does just as well "bantering" or whatever you wanna call it with the team as Joe does. I think Heather is just a little more "fresh" in the morning. I really hope they aren't gonna try to put Joe back, I love watching him but I have really come to enjoy Heather in the mornings. And if you look at Lori, Ken, Bill and Heather's twitter pages, they clearly have a blast on and off the camera.
Are WCBS and WNBC doing it this year as well? I assume so but haven't seen any commercials on it like WABC is running now.
WCBS is doing the same thing at 10pm.
-
Haven't seen the new newsroom set up yet, but I hope it signals they will be getting a new studio soon.
-
Good for Dick, after getting cut at WNYW he has landed on his feet in this market. And for Alice, her rapid ascent at WCBS is impressive, to say the least.
-
Maurice DuBois subbed for Scott Pelley on the CBS Evening News tonight.

The weekend version of FOX 5 News @ 10 is so much better than the weekday version. Christina Park and Audrey Puente are great. Even Antwan is becoming tolerable, he just needs to show a little more personality.
-
I agree. The glossy logo looks a million times better on air in my opinion -
yesIs it a clever way to scroll the teleprompter?

I don't know it he's sans prompter or had too much wine with dinner, but Lonnie Quinn is all over the map (pun!) on WLNY right now. Kind of bizarre.

Yeah, I don't quite get that. I'd just as rather get it from Elise or even John Marshall over Lonnie.
