Here are some more pictures on how it is being used. I will go as far to say it looks more visually appealing than the outgoing set by a thousand years. Very much like the temporary set they used before the outgoing set debuted, it is more elaborate than most small market permanent sets. Obviously the standing desk is a complaint let's hope the new set won't have that!

Could this be the permanent set? It looks too elaborate to be temporary.

The same set with some changes was also used for KXTV's pay-to-play show 'Your California Life' a while back.  Cheap bastards.

I don't think I've ever seen a market in the Top 20 have such poor standards (though my local Fox Affiliate, KDVR, comes to mind).

Meh. Doesn't look fresh or exciting. According to some commenter on Youtube, it's just a refresh which looks to be the case.

When I saw the title I was hoping to see something nice and I got my hopes up KGW could get something new. Their set has only been constantly refreshed the past 20 years, it's terrible.

You're right. That metallic framework is the same. This is the same damn set just refreshed. How f*cking poor is KXTV?

Good news... no longer in the newsroom. They were really terrible when doing so from the newsroom.

Bad news... new set, worse one in the market.

Well, if you were under any delusion that TEGNA hadn't grown long in the tooth...

    It’s not a Tegna set in a box! 😆

But it's also formatted like many other sets out there. No wood colors though, but feels like an office. White faux brick with blue and gray accents. An oblong tiny anchor desk with stand-ups on either side. It's reinventing nothing. It's not providing anything new to the market.

What's gonna happen in Denver with KUSA NBC9 and KTVD MyDenver20?

    1. We don't call it NBC9 or MyDenver20... We call it 9News and Channel 20. Also, who cares? All speculation at this point and you nor I have any control over these assets.

I forgot about that. I fixed it with Nexstar.

I had ONE misstep and you want to jump down my throat on it.

Hearst's graphics hub can be moved to another station if needed. I'm sure WBAL-TV would want it.

Nexstar can't take it either. They hit their cap. Orlando is too big. Either TEGNA or Scripps.

Also, no. It's not leaving Florida.

If Hearst and Cox merge, The biggest Conflicts would be Pittsburgh (WTAE over WPXI) , Boston (WCVB over WFXT [Fox could get this station back]), and Orlando (WFTV/WRDQ over WESH/WKCF)

    WPXI screams Nexstar.

    WFXT goes back to FOX

    WESH/WKCF goes to Graham.

"Hey Hearst. Sell your flagship to get WFTV." Are you insane?!

    Doesn't Graham own WKMG?

Yes, but in this little hypothetical where Kenneth doesn't understand how the industry works, Graham gets two big 4 stations and the FCC is run by Clippy.

Speaking of KCNC, I came across this video from yesterday featuring a couple of stingers that I haven't seen before; and they look really close to the newer CBS branding - https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/dangerous-flooding-emergency-message-larimer-county-sheriff/

Could this be a possible hint at the new graphics?

KCNC has been using a hodgepodge of 4 different graphics packages for the last few years. It's a design mess.

If in fact the ND wrote this, that station is a heap of trouble considering his lack of knowing the right terms, what they mean,  as well as being able to make a coherent sentence.  it seems appropriate a high school student wrote it.

Honestly thought, the joke's on the ND. Nexstar loathes lawsuits and avoids them at all costs. He can try scare tactics like this (and poor ones at that), but Nexstar attorneys aren't going to do anything.

It’s only a matter of if anyone at Tegna has the good sense to call off the deal before the FCC rejects it out of hand.

The one thing you do not want to do is lie to the FCC, and withholding the info about Apollo having a substantial financial stake in the buyout (because Soo can’t afford the company on his own) reaches that level of impropriety.

This deal is deader than dead.

Which could renew interest for Allen Media.

NewsNation could’ve easily simulcasted WGN’s live coverage. WGN is one of the top news stations in the country, why not tap into that resource?

MSNBC and NBC news now utilized WMAQ (NBC5) effectively. ABC News Had WLS’ (ABC7) coverage. CBS had WBBM (CBS2)

    Where was NN????

Granted it was July 4th & we realize that staffing numbers were low, but This story literally is in your backyard!! and you are still MIA as far as news coverage!

NN the writing is on the wall…

Sook does not care if the writing is on the wall or not. At long as there's cash to suck from the Nexstar stations, NN will live on, as a parasite.

They will. I was interviewing to be WPVI's Art Director about three years ago now when ABC started on this package... was told it "was like nothing you've ever seen before". I have to imagine Covid, the departure of Wendy McMahon, and changes with the design agency probably tabled this project for awhile. It's all being managed out of Chicago - though I'm sure that's no secret now that the weather look launched.

That said... this looks exactly like "everything I've ever seen before", so... I'm guessing they started over at some point and went down a very safe path with the design.

Management always says "It's like nothing you've seen before" as PR spin.

It was a project for Stun Creative. Essentially the principle sold the company to Smith-Geiger who changed the name to Vivid Zero. The principle has remained on board.
