Pretty sure a quick, once a week flight or train ride from DC to NYC isn't going to kill him.

Per two Feder reports, 2 part-timers have left ABC 7. Traffic fill-in Kristin Byrne, who's done work in Chicago and Milwaukee, is joining WTMJ full-time. Meanwhile, reporter Megan Hickey is leaving for a full-time role at WBBM.

Dean left without taking all the 'Jessica'-labeled station swag, so this hire is very economical.

If I were to guess, they just want to act like they're "checking in" with her, and not treating it as a full sports segment. They should do something, with all the events in a standard weekend, but want to keep it in-line with the sportsless weekday 5 o'clock show.

Five years after they vacated the spot, one could say that NBC 5 finally had their own studio car crash. This is the corner of the building housed "Studio 5" for almost a decade. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Car-Drives-Through-Pioneer-Court-Smashes-into-Building-Near-Michigan-Avenue-498058571.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_CHBrand

Okay, so my thing is completely different. Carry on, everybody.

This is all pretty foreign to me. While that impacts timing and cues and stuff, but would that affect how the graphics look? Like, might actual graphics have to be rebuilt to comply with the new systems? I'm asking because of another O&O.

Steve has been off since last week, Demetrius is working the late shift for Tom, and I guess Dina is probably just off, as well. Odd coincidence, but I doubt there's anything going on. Both Patrick and Amy were the backups for Steve last week. It's nice to see Elwood getting some more desk time.

The MNF package reminds me of what Fox threw together for their last Super Bowl, with a poorly-modified version of the old scoreboard, with other, newer graphics.

Muuuuuuuch better.

Longtime Chicago anchor/host/personality Warner Saunders died last night at 83. He spent time at a few stations, but his long run at WMAQ is where he built his legacy, going from program host, to sports, eventually ascending to lead anchor. A Chicago public schoolteacher before his TV career, he retired in 2009. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/warner-saunders-nbc5-anchor-chicago-passes-away-496594461.html

They'll never admit it, but I can't imagine that it wasn't a factor.

It took her leaving for Jennifer Lyons to realize that she wasn't ready to exit the business. She's returning as ND before her office chair got cold. https://www.robertfeder.com/2018/10/09/shes-back-jennifer-lyons-returns-wgn-news-director/

Rob Johnson was off tonight, and for the first time in forever, the remaining anchor did not go solo. Brad Edwards sat alongside Irika. Meanwhile, Robb Ellis was in for Mary Kay, and Brad accidentally called him Rob Elgas when signing off. Awkward.

At this point, who knows, but I'm assuming the plan is for him to return. It looks like the surgery was earlier this week and went well, but this post from just before really explains what all went wrong. Having had a family member deal with intestine-related surgery, it is nothing to take lightly. Hopefully he's finally on the mend. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10214430678655609

If the bosses at CBS are as nervous and itchy over Jeff Glor as we're led to believe, they might be starting to move pieces in advance of moving Norah or John to Evening News.

By sheer coincidence, FuzzyMemories.TV just posted the special WLS aired after Kennedy's death, narrated by anchorman Fahey Flynn
-
Follow-up..."Clues Across Philadelphia" BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
That really is incredible. The video's caption references it, but for those who didn't go to the YouTube page, third co-host Bob Kennedy, plucked from a successful morning show on WLS, died not long after this was recorded, and before AM America would debut. The show would launch with Bill Beutel, Stephanie Edwards, and news anchor (and third wheel) Peter Jennings.

I'm curious where they're going to go with this. Jeopardy! has used affiliates' personalities in the past to give clues about their city, but not about their station.

Formerly a White Sox reporter for the network, Siera Santos left NBC Sports Chicago last week, and is now freelancing at FOX32. She effectively becomes the 4th member of that department, with Lou Canellis, Shae Peppler, and freelancer Mitch Robinson.

A little update. Off the air for 3 months, it doesn't look like Hosea Sanders is going to be back anytime soon. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10214353787333374

I've bitten the bullet and signed up, taking one for the team. Yes, it is Jessica. According the report, CBS was slow to renew her contract, so she got a job elsewhere.

The Blackhawks coverage on 9 is using the same theme and color scheme for their graphics. The navy and gray is going to look so weird, but the theme fits beautifully, as it's most similar to the old hockey theme. *Correction: the blue is changed to black on the scoreboard, while the blue remains everywhere else.
