1. I don't know the kind of time off she'd be allowed, for the different circumstances, but they, in fact, might be down 2 meteorologists for a stretch. (Original caption mentioned a pending adoption by Kalee and her husband.)
2. And they sold the parts off to Victory Auto Wreckers. I'd expect nothing less.
3. "It's 8pm, do you know where your morning show anchors are?" Drinking, location varies.
4. Based on the first 5 minutes, if you ever wanted to see Paul Konrad shirtless in a bubble bath and Tom Skilling's chest hair in a bath robe, y'all are in luck.
5. If I were guess, she's probably freelancing. Meanwhile, digital reporter and resident young person Jesse Kirsch has started filing occasional on-air reports, after a year and a half at the station.
6. You're the only one that's suggested shutting down news ops.
7. You would be correct. For some weird reason, the "Cool Hand Luke" soundtrack didn't have an election theme.
8. Here's the tail-end of ABC's 1978 primetime election coverage, anchored by Frank Reynolds, followed by Fahey Flynn, Joel Daly, and the beginning of Eyewitness News at 10. Note the mention of the election of a new Arkansas governor, some young kid named Clinton. No word on what became of him. (WLS, 11/7/1980)
9. Longtime reporter Mike Parker died overnight from heart failure. He was 75, and had retired 2 years ago. An excellent writer, he was one of the best ever to report from the streets of Chicago. https://www.robertfeder.com/2018/11/05/mike-parker-1943-2018/
10. Correct me if I missed it, I feel like this was never confirmed, but it sure seems like Sam Ryan is permanent on weekends.
11. Uncle Dan sounds like a new Mike Toomey or Jeff Hoover morning show character.
12. ...in your opinion.
13. Pretty sure a quick, once a week flight or train ride from DC to NYC isn't going to kill him.
14. Per two Feder reports, 2 part-timers have left ABC 7. Traffic fill-in Kristin Byrne, who's done work in Chicago and Milwaukee, is joining WTMJ full-time. Meanwhile, reporter Megan Hickey is leaving for a full-time role at WBBM.
15. Dean left without taking all the 'Jessica'-labeled station swag, so this hire is very economical.
16. If I were to guess, they just want to act like they're "checking in" with her, and not treating it as a full sports segment. They should do something, with all the events in a standard weekend, but want to keep it in-line with the sportsless weekday 5 o'clock show.
17. Five years after they vacated the spot, one could say that NBC 5 finally had their own studio car crash. This is the corner of the building housed "Studio 5" for almost a decade. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Car-Drives-Through-Pioneer-Court-Smashes-into-Building-Near-Michigan-Avenue-498058571.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_CHBrand
18. Okay, so my thing is completely different. Carry on, everybody.
19. This is all pretty foreign to me. While that impacts timing and cues and stuff, but would that affect how the graphics look? Like, might actual graphics have to be rebuilt to comply with the new systems? I'm asking because of another O&O.
20. Steve has been off since last week, Demetrius is working the late shift for Tom, and I guess Dina is probably just off, as well. Odd coincidence, but I doubt there's anything going on. Both Patrick and Amy were the backups for Steve last week. It's nice to see Elwood getting some more desk time.
21. CBS replacing Scott Pelley with Jeff Glor is a prime example as to why replacing Holt would be a bad move. Outside of bringing back Williams, there really isn't anyone that would be a compelling draw.
22. The MNF package reminds me of what Fox threw together for their last Super Bowl, with a poorly-modified version of the old scoreboard, with other, newer graphics.
23. Muuuuuuuch better.

In Memoriam

Longtime Chicago anchor/host/personality Warner Saunders died last night at 83. He spent time at a few stations, but his long run at WMAQ is where he built his legacy, going from program host, to sports, eventually ascending to lead anchor. A Chicago public schoolteacher before his TV career, he retired in 2009. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/warner-saunders-nbc5-anchor-chicago-passes-away-496594461.html
