1. But we're not. The vast majority of us on here are interested in the industry, but have no professional connections to it. Remember what you told me about making assumptions?
2. Wait, if our usernames actually represent what we are, it raises some serious questions about Tyrannical Bastard.
3. I'm a little disappointed that our favorite shark isn't "taking the bait" in this discussion, so to speak. On a semi-serious note, there is a big difference between lousy anchors, poor story selection, sponsored content & weak visual presentation, and "fake news".
4. Much like yourself, there is someone on here who feels that it's his duty to expose, improve, etc. the news industry. You really don't want me to summon him so you two can join forces. You only have 2.5 to 4.5 years before he leaves here for good, though...unless you are him. (Somebody like this, please. My emotional well-being is at stake.)
5. I think you're thinking of their time in the newsroom while the outgoing set was being built and they were transitioning to HD. This is the set I think we're all talking about... https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/index.php?threads/wfld-new-set.11389/
6. C'mon, don't be the guy that quotes and responds to himself.
7. With the announcement this week of his impending semi-retirement, here's a quick promo of an 27 year-old Bob Costas from when he called 19 Bulls games on WGN in 1979. He would join NBC the following year, and the rest is history. http://www.fuzzymemories.tv/?c=786
8. 99% sure yes.
9. For the last several months/year or two, the standard reporter-reporting-from-the-truck-on-the-road gimmick has been referred to as "Stormtracker Live". Now it's an official vehicle... There's been no press or promos about it, and no word on it's capabilities. The hubcaps appear to signal it to be a GMC, and probably a Yukon. I'm going to the auto show next week, so I'll get some pics then. Edit: a better view...
10. Not that we needed it, but here's some unofficially official confirmation..."WFLD-TV/FOX 32 will be hosting its newscasts from a temporary set for the next month or so (surprisingly doing so during the important February sweeps period). This is because a new, state-of-the-art set is being constructed for the station, which should be completed later in March" By the way, is it sad that the temp set actually looks better than the set it's replacing? The blue lit panels, the simplicity, dare I say, it's almost elegant.
11. Because they insist on using such tight shots of the 2 anchors in the main studio, this really doesn't look too bad though the sound isn't good. I wonder if they aren't able to change the background video loop to the studio skyline image. If they were to change it, you almost wouldn't be able to tell they're in the newsroom, at first glance.
12. That would've been my guess, too. Anna and Corey were moved to GDC in 2010, and she left in 2013, and I know the set was only used within that timeframe. By the time Anna exited, they were back in the main set.
13. Darlene said in a Facebook live stream with Corey this morning that they'll be in the newsroom for 5-6 weeks. Gotta be a new set.
14. Anything's possible. They're certainly due, but all signs point to Fox prioritizing new sets for their most successful stations, which WFLD is not. However, if they're in the newsroom for more than a week with these limited camera angles and such, I'm inclined to think they're making changes...that is if we don't hear anything, first.
15. I never saw the desk, but it appears they just set up shop in front of the 3x3. Definitely not a bad look for a likely temporary period.
16. Mike has dementia. They're still figuring out the severity of extent of CTE. He was previously diagnosed with epilepsy. He can't drive. He won't return to work. He can barely remember his way home. He's only 67. Damn.
17. Likely just a slogan, like the sister stations.
18. WE...HAVE...THE...POWER!!!
19. Yes, but he's almost always off on Mondays after football, though he and Jesse were live in Houston. No one gets to sit at the desk in his absence, though George and Robin still get a fill-in. Amy will get to sit in at 8, in place of Michael or Lara, and Lara isn't really seen til then, anyway.
20. No better, no worse at 7 o'clock. I didn't notice anything at 4 or 5, but I wasn't looking, either. That almost makes it seem like it just happened. Never mind. It was like this since the middle of last week. This is from either Wednesday or Thursday...
21. Since the C looks okay, it looks like the black is peeling off/leaning forward, and not sliding down, right?
22. http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/8752-nbc-5-sports-anchor-mike-adamle-to-reveal-his-medical-condition-why-he-has-been-off-air This preview hints that Mike's absence likely has something to do with a hot-button issue putting a cloud over today's NFL and the sport of football... "In recent years, WMAQ-TV viewers have commented that Adamle had been making on-air mistakes and sometimes appeared to slurring his words and/or jumbling his words. It was first thought that it was related to his epilepsy and the medication needed to treat it. It turns out, there is a far worse medical reason behind his on-air and off-air troubles. It also is the reason for Adamle's indefinite leave of absence from the television station. On Tuesday night during its 10:00pm newscast, WMAQ-TV will air an interview between reporter Peggy Kusinski and Adamle, in which he will publicly reveal his medical condition, and how it relates to his years of playing football. This is something Adamle's family, friends, and co-workers have known for quite some time, but will be openly and publicly discussed for the very first time by him."
23. A rather significant set update this morning, with the debut of a brand new desk in a new location. In what is likely a poor concept over the long run, the home base is essentially in the middle of the 1st floor studio, using the weather wall (don't know if weather has moved) as a distant backdrop. I like the desk (hated the last one, still love the 2nd version of the ribbon one), though the logo placement is a little too distorted with the desk front's sharp curve. It makes me wonder if new graphics or at least an update are coming soon, seeing how new desks seem to come around the same time.
24. Chicago's Very Own, Cleveland's Very Own, LA's Very Own... Sense a theme? http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/2/5/all-hands-on-deck-meeting-at-tribune-stations
25. Not sure how that's a mistake. The talent intros say who the regulars are, and they're not changed when someone is off. Jim was off, so Mark was filling in, as has been standard procedure since many of us were in diapers.
