  1. I'm wondering if this was after their apparently disastrous 96 format change. That may explain why it's so simple. Also, Diane Willis from WNEV!
  2. I just saw him on the air yesterday. If there was a suspension, it must have ended.
  3. Per , it wasn't until the next month- January of 92- that NewsBeat replaced the 6PM EWN. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't NewsBeat start at 5:30? One of Phillyvideofan's old videos (before the whole channel got taken down) seemed to imply that.) There wasn't a noon newscast at the time (no idea if they'd ever had one), but one did debut during the KYW News 3 era after the switch to CBS (no clue what was running in the slot before).
  4. I'd honestly like to see either Hearst or Cox in charge- the former because their stations still have strong local identities and personalities despite standardization and network branding, the latter because of their family ownership and lack of standardization- outside of the disaster are that is WFXT, they run their stations competently and with minimal oversight, so WFMZ wouldn't be all that different under Cox.
  5. That clip is unusual- a music package I haven't ever heard before (I don't think it's Power News), and the set is a leftover from the trainwreck that was Inquirer News Tonight.
  6. NewsActive3 has served up more vintage WABC, including stuff with Tom Snyder!:
  7. Wait, hold on. Tom Ellis of Boston? How and when did he work at WABC? That's bizarre.
  8. Why are you even posting there to begin with? Why not just use YouTube? (As far as I know there isn't a limit on how much you can upload....)
  9. Didn't know that Marler and Marshall ever worked at KATU.... and yeah, that is one bad slogan.
  10. And another of the badass Spirit of Arizona intros is uncovered! They can't hide forever.
  11. They lost them at some point?
  12. I think Fox TV Stations is being lazy.
  13. WSOC, WLVI....
  14. Alright, everybody- gather up your riot gear, we move on Hunt Valley this weekend.
  15. Here's something interesting- anyone remember the USA Updates that were shown on the USA Network in the late 80s and the 90s? Everyone thought that they moved from being produced at KYW to the All-News Channel in 1991 after KYW's infamous revamp (causing the departure of Steve Bell, likely one of the reasons USA approached KYW/Group W to produced the updates). And yet, I found an update from 1993, still produced at KYW with Beverly Williams anchoring from one of the Art-Deco styled sets, just with a grey chrome-key BG. It makes you wonder why they moved at all, then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=zBrxnPFZi1U;m=0;s=10
  16. ABC lockout? What happened? I've never heard of such an incident. ( during the 1991 Crown Heights riots where the microwave mast snapped off a live truck.)
  17. I actually don't want to be on-camera, I'd rather work behind the scenes, technical stuff.
  18. I think that might be the same Bonnie Schneider who worked at WLVI on the weekends around 2003-ish. Ironic now that she's at their ex-sister station (around the time she was there, WLVI's news graphics were based of WPIX's).
  19. Are you the Greggo of Greggo's Game Shows, or a different one?
  20. That's exactly what I was thinking they'd do- "New York's Very Own" is the slogan. I expect it'll be implemented around the station's community programs and events, things like that.
  21. And on a related note: where the heck does the Fox 5 Sky Guardian radar originate from? Given the location on the map, it looks to be somewhere around Bridgewater, but I can't find it. Anybody know?
  22. That was bizarre- I associate Newswire with two stations, WAVY and WLVI.
  23. All these shows (except for Springer- because of the fights- and Wilkos- who you don't want to mess with because he threw a chair and impaled it in a wall) need to be cleaned out and replaced with game shows. There's tons of good formats just waiting to be revived. I would, for instance, replace The View with daytime runs of Match Game and Pyramid, and fill the Chew's slot with revivals of The Big Showdown and Split/Second (both because ABC ran them and wiped them near-completely in the 70s- they deserved better fates (though Second got a mid 80s revival)). Over at CBS, I'd replace Chen and her cronies with revivals of Eye Guess and Three on a Match- both awesome games that got screwed over and wiped by NBC.
  24. Isn't Doppler 4000 still on top of 30 Rock? Why did they even stop using it? Considering how they hyped it up with a promo with music by Edd Kalehoff (of course) that went on for like, a decade?
  25. I liked it so much, I recorded part of that intro in Audacity and put it as an MP3. It'd be awesome if someone could find out who composed that theme.
