  1. What the... Ernie Anderson for a non-ABC station? What type of bizarro world did that come from?
  2. Right, it was never here, like the Blue Helio...
  3. That looks awesome! I can't wait for it to be complete. Just one thing: where have they been working while the newsroom's been a disaster area? And what happened to that movie poster w/ Roger Grimsby?
  4. Dang it, when will they upgrade already? Or are they telling us this to throw us off the trail? Is WABC's CSD secretly being controlled by a Yeerk?
  5. Yeah, but they've been using the same cuts over and over since 1999. At this rate, they're gonna be like WPVI; and I dunno why they didn't use Stimulus, as that was a real good package.
  6. I'm honestly wondering if they'll ever implement actual new music- remember the aborted attempt at using Stimulus, which only made it to station IDs; ironically, one of them is still in circulation, but with another piece of music that sounds vaguely like EWN Series 4, but I'm not sure if it is from that package.
  7. I wonder what position she's gonna fill, maybe the morning reporter slot left vacant by Lisa Colagrossi?
  8. TEGNA sounds more like the name of a Ford or Lincoln model than a broadcast company. "The new 2015 Ford TEGNA, now with better fuel economy and that weird self-parking shtick!"
  9. Honestly, they need more sitcoms. Get, for instance, Corner Gas from CTV. That could do well with the rural audiences in the outlying areas. And get some cartoons, like SWAT Kats or something to fill out gaps, like on weekend mornings.
  10. Well, people recycle clothing over several days all the time- I do it myself, to get the maximum possible use before I have to wash them. Ron must be doing the same thing with his tie.
  11. No, they had a 7PM news from 1989 til 92, and an 11AM report from about 95-96 (it originally started as Carol Jenkins Live, then became Fox 5 Live) until 2009-ish.
  12. He was actually the first co-anchor of EWN This Morning when it debuted back around 1989, alongside Art McFarland. So this brings him full circle.
  13. Wait, what were they breaking into programming for in the first place?
  14. Really? How do you know this? Do you work there? Or do you have a friend there?
  15. That definitely looks like chromakey.
  16. The late news last night suffered quite a bit of technical snafus- the big curved in-wall monitors kept going to partial static, so they had to bring in a plasma screen on wheels for side shots, which Mark then delivered his forecast on after the sports (apparently the chroma-key was down too); the sport report had Dave looking at his script a lot, so there may have been prompter issues as well. Chandi apologized for the snafus, but didn't specify a cause of all the glitches.
  17. Viper V.1 was commed by WWOR for their 05 GFX revamp (and shortly before their My9 days kicked in) after several years of stock music dating to 1998; it was used until 2009, and in that time frame, sisters WFLD and WGHP used it. WFLD replaced Streaming News with it; this didn't last long before the OSI music came in; WGHP replaced Monster News (which is a misleading name, the package doesn't sound aggressive at all), but the same situation happened there.
  18. The only Thunder Truck I know of is a converted tow truck the SWAT Kats used to try and fend off a multi-armed alien named Mutilor from stealing all their planet's water.
  19. Don't forget, Rogers also joined KYW during their ill-fated revamp back in 91, displacing Linda Gialanella; he left in 97, just before the EWN return in 98; Tom LaMaine replaced him for a while before moving to the mornings; not sure who became their evening weathercaster then. (I'm guessing that how he got to WCBS.)
  20. I've also noticed two things: one, there's now one of those overhead cameras on a track in the South Mountain set, like WABC, and the Traffic Center still has wall decor matching the graphics from 2005-ish, when the set debuted; you'd think they would've changed that by now.
  21. I have no clue. I'm guessing it must be a new PHL17 logo; maybe HulkieMatt (that's what I'm calling him now, to distinguish him from you, WGALMatt) would know.
  22. Mike Landess from KUSA? One of their older 80s-90s anchors? How'd he end up there, Gannett corporate didn't like him or something?
  23. I have Comcast/Xfinity out here in the woods of NW NJ, and we get it. I wonder why it isn't a "must-carry" yet, considering it's WCBS' duopoly partner.
  24. They haven't done anything meaningful with TCN since they dumped Art Fennell and the CN8 brand; it's been used primarily for overflow or not-as-important sports from CSN. Let's hope that WWCAU maybe can use TCN as a showcase for locally-produced programming, they could do that.
  25. Cox isn't really big on standards- the closest stuff they have is the blue-and-gold color scheme used at several stations (though variants of one graphics package were used in the mid-to-late 90s by WSOC, WFTV, WHIO and KIRO).
