They are actually: they mention they're broadcasting "from the Scripps studios" in the Inergy intro and there's a giant Scripps logo on the set. Apparently the Scripps name has a lot of pull in San Diego.
That looks awesome! I can't wait for it to be complete. Just one thing: where have they been working while the newsroom's been a disaster area? And what happened to that movie poster w/ Roger Grimsby?
Yeah, but they've been using the same cuts over and over since 1999. At this rate, they're gonna be like WPVI; and I dunno why they didn't use Stimulus, as that was a real good package.
I'm honestly wondering if they'll ever implement actual new music- remember the aborted attempt at using Stimulus, which only made it to station IDs; ironically, one of them is still in circulation, but with another piece of music that sounds vaguely like EWN Series 4, but I'm not sure if it is from that package.
TEGNA sounds more like the name of a Ford or Lincoln model than a broadcast company. "The new 2015 Ford TEGNA, now with better fuel economy and that weird self-parking shtick!"
Honestly, they need more sitcoms. Get, for instance, Corner Gas from CTV. That could do well with the rural audiences in the outlying areas. And get some cartoons, like SWAT Kats or something to fill out gaps, like on weekend mornings.
Well, people recycle clothing over several days all the time- I do it myself, to get the maximum possible use before I have to wash them. Ron must be doing the same thing with his tie.
No, they had a 7PM news from 1989 til 92, and an 11AM report from about 95-96 (it originally started as Carol Jenkins Live, then became Fox 5 Live) until 2009-ish.
The late news last night suffered quite a bit of technical snafus- the big curved in-wall monitors kept going to partial static, so they had to bring in a plasma screen on wheels for side shots, which Mark then delivered his forecast on after the sports (apparently the chroma-key was down too); the sport report had Dave looking at his script a lot, so there may have been prompter issues as well. Chandi apologized for the snafus, but didn't specify a cause of all the glitches.
Viper V.1 was commed by WWOR for their 05 GFX revamp (and shortly before their My9 days kicked in) after several years of stock music dating to 1998; it was used until 2009, and in that time frame, sisters WFLD and WGHP used it. WFLD replaced Streaming News with it; this didn't last long before the OSI music came in; WGHP replaced Monster News (which is a misleading name, the package doesn't sound aggressive at all), but the same situation happened there.
The only Thunder Truck I know of is a converted tow truck the SWAT Kats used to try and fend off a multi-armed alien named Mutilor from stealing all their planet's water.
Don't forget, Rogers also joined KYW during their ill-fated revamp back in 91, displacing Linda Gialanella; he left in 97, just before the EWN return in 98; Tom LaMaine replaced him for a while before moving to the mornings; not sure who became their evening weathercaster then. (I'm guessing that how he got to WCBS.)
