1. Osama bin Epshteyn's done it again. Lol.
2. They why is WSYX a McStation? They have more than enough red viewers outside of the blue inner city (which IS the largest city in Ohio, mind you). WKRC, to be blunt about it, got a special look to differentiate themselves from WKEF/WRGT in nearby Dayton. And when Sinclair folds KSTU into KUTV, KSTU will get the McStation look.
3. WKYC doesn't run news at noon, 4 or 5. (Live on Lakeside is infotainment with a brief news segment thrown in.) WKYC does lead the pack at 11pm, the only time WJW doesn't have a newscast.
4. Even still, you're hard pressed to find a legitimate moderate on either party. They've been deeply calcified over the past few decades and will continue to do so.
5. Those people don't hold any positions of relevant power. The Republican rank-and-file purged all of their moderate legislators seven years ago in the latest of multiple purity waves buoyed by Fox News and talk radio rhetoric.
6. They'll do what KB has done, and push The List to 7:30, thus banishing "Access Hollywood" to post-Nightline. (Remember that "The List" lost the localized segments when "The Now" debuted. Otherwise Scripps could have had their own iteration of the PM/Evening Magazine concept that might have been possible at 7:30 IMO... but it looks like The Now could be going in that pseudo direction.) Truthfully, if any station ought to move "The Now" out of the recommended 4pm time slot, it's KSHB, whose news department was badly damaged upon its premiere. WXYZ's iteration is effectively a 4pm newscast so a move is unnecessary.
7. You really think Republicans watch John Oliver? Please. They've been spoonfed by the usual suspects, namely Fox News, Rush and Lumpy, etc., to disregard anything he says - or anything said by his contemporaries - as "fake news." Oliver only has one specific audience, and that's liberal Democrats. Sad, but true.
8. Goebbels' radio ministry that fueled propaganda, agitprop and fascist doctrine never called themselves "Nazi Radio" but Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft (literally, the "Reich Broadcasting Corporation"). The USSR didn't called their state newspaper "Soviet News Only Today," but Pravda. Same with today's Russia - RT and Sputnik are not going to call themselves the Putin News Service. And Sinclair won't do that either, even with their predilection to Russia and their employment of Osama bin Epshteyn.
9. But not before Sinclair changes their name to Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft first.
10. Pai's fait accompli killing of Net Neutrality will thrust the internet into the dark ages... at least in the United States.
11. Still won't change a damn thing. Sinclair will play the victim card and Republicans will fall for it because Republicans. And Paid Off will let them get all of Tribune Broadcasting with next to no divestures (forget about the DOJ coming in to save the day, cause they won't).
12. The cynic in me is saying that Sinclair will keep KSTU's IP, place it on the Deerfield-owned LP signal and a KUTV sub, and spin off KSTU's license to Howard Stirik.
13. Problem is, if Steve Doerr cans his sorry butt, Sinclair will hire him as Sheryl Atkinson's sidekick.
14. Eat, most wouldn't know until it was pointed out that, oh yeah, that's a picture of DeRay McKesson getting arrested for civil disobedience. That's the point. It IS deceptive and misleading to the people who would follow KBOI on Twitter, and a personal attack on DeRay, who sure as hell didn't deserve this. (DeRay did retweet KBOI's "apology," which shows a lot of graciousness on his part. To me, it has as much value as a used diaper.) People will laugh and say, "oh, Sinclair wouldn't use their power, clout and Republican favoritism as a weapon against anyone they don't agree with." And this is the latest example of why those people just don't get it, and never will. I betcha Sinclair will have Sheryl Atkinson target John Oliver with a slanderous story in the next few weeks. Even if it's made up, as Sheryl has a history of doing, the damage will be done. And with enablers of this misbehavior leading the FCC and DOJ, it will only get worse. Then you wonder if it's not propaganda ... but the early markings of soft fascism.
15. It's a guy who's a prominent social activist campaigning for police reform - thus, he's a mortal enemy among Republicans. And he grew up in Baltimore... not that far from Hunt Valley. Analogous to this would be if there was a story about opioid addiction and abuse in Cape Girardeau, MO, and a TV station tweets about it with an unflattering picture of Rush Limbaugh (a well-known Oxycotin addict and a Cape Girardeau native). You and I know that if that happened, Rush and every single Republican would condemn the TV station as part of this non-existant "left-wing conspiracy" and frame it as libel.
16. Nope. Not doctored.
17. And it happened TWICE during THE SAME HOUR. Twice is not an accident.
18. Yes, Sinclair went there. They "apologized." Uh-huh. Riiiiiiight.
19. I'm sorry, but I really don't really want to see Ben Swann naked.
20. He started out as one of "Michelangelo's Boys" at CBS in the 1540s.
21. That's probably the best description of Real Time with Bill Maher I've read thus far.
22. John Oliver targets a niche audience - liberals who pay extra to watch HBO. His monologue only resonated with them... and no one else.
23. How does Sinclair "die?" It can't. It won't. You and I all know that dirty little secret. Even if a group manages to force all advertisers to boycott from any and all Sinclair news programming indefinitely, Sinclair would fill the airtime with political ads, especially in battleground states. They'll have their cult to further brainwash the John Q. Bumpkins of the world, and be an imposing terminal cancer on this country, like Fox News and talk radio were.
