  1. And feckless Aljti I. M. Paid Off will accept a few hundred from the Smith Clan and expedite the Tribune takeover even more quickly.
  2. Subheadline for that story: One America News Network has been floated as a possible landing spot. So basically ... Greta's ready to leave TV.
  3. Welp... WHAG changed call letters on July 1st... to WDVM. I'd laugh if a Nexstar-TEGNA deal were to go through eventually.
  4. Also see how KALB managed to get a badly needed logo revamp when Gray took control. I'll give Gray quite a bit of credit; they manage to overhaul acquired station logos without having them look like jokes (**cough** WEWS **cough** WFXT **cough**)
  5. "Special series" more often than not means a limited run. IMO. Plus maybe they are starting to build up a new, different library of documentaries to run on weekend nights and finally retire "Lockup."
  6. If Hugh managed to tone down the wonky stuff, it would become 30 minutes of Cleveland Browns talk, and nobody really wants that.
  7. They stuck Hugh at 8am EDT on Saturdays for a half-hour. Maybe it's a portend of things to come, but that's basically debuting your show in Siberia and hoping to proceed from there.
  8. To be fair, she had a long run at CNN prior to Fox. She just went with the wrong network.
  9. A half-hour at 8am? That's weird. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it at 7:30, and push "First Business" up to 7am? Unless the plan calls for half-hour block shows - including those two - between 7am and 9am... I thought I posted it elsewhere on this thread. But in any event, that's why Lockup (along with any other evergreen taped docs they've run in the past) is in the process of being eased off of the lineup completely.
  10. WKBW is also understandable, since 1) they're trying to rebuild their ratings after years of Granite mismanagement, and 2) they have the longtime advertorial "AM Buffalo" at 10am (recently truncated to 30 minutes).
  11. Just a precursor to Altji I. M. Paid Off taking a nice big kickback from the Smith Clan and allowing those quadopolies in Seattle and OKC and a triopoly in St. Louis.
  12. Gene Deitch says hi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IomjsMzXcSY
  13. Heh. I was talking about "Pink Panther" and "Robocop" whose IP rights wound up in MGM's hands.
  14. Aided in no small part by the legacy MGM/UA cartoon library.
  15. Hello, unregulated quadopolies in OKC and Seattle. Altji I. M. Paid Off won't lift a finger.
  16. Won't happen, not when they control the lion's share of revenue in the industry and use their commanding reach as a weapon to persecute any political enemies. A Sinclair-AT&T merger isn't far fetched.
  17. Becoming a part-time fill-in/swing position on WTOL or WTVG would be a promotion.
  18. It probably wouldn't happen, but I would laugh if Gray were to acquire the NBC affiliation for another WTVG subchannel.
  19. **cough** John Hambrick **cough**
  20. Nielsen still has radio ratings (they merged with Arbitron a few years ago) so they won't be totally "broken." Yet.
  21. WEWS had Cleveland Electric Illuminating and Ohio Edison (then competing utilities) as title sponsors for their newscasts from the late 1960s until 1998. It's not new by any stretch...
  22. Nah. They'll call themselves Network 23 and the prophecy will be complete.
  23. Will be interesting to see how long Sinclair sticks with Boris Badenov when this probe inevitably escalates.
