  1. The only way it was an upgrade is that you can understand what they are saying. Imus has been inaudible since 1997 or so. Or Doug Adair and Mona Scott at WCMH.
  2. I'm not sure the correlation between this news and their merger bid. Sinclair has partnered with (the rotted remains of) MGM for quite a few things now.
  3. Isn't that CNN now? Oh wait, CNN is trying to be "All First Take, All The Goddam Time..."
  4. But led in the 25-54 demos at their peak. Fox always has catered to the 65-dead demos. Phil Griffin is guilty of trying to parlay the liberal primetime opinion programming into all dayparts outside of Morning Joe, which was a colossal waste. (And even then, Morning Joe is still highly overrated IMO.) It still doesn't justify hiring a one-note Republican shill in Hugh Hewitt.
  5. Hugh Hewitt has an "aww shucks" demeanor and is a Republican apologist through-and-through. I can't see any sort of intrinsic value to putting him on the lineup. MSNBC may use the "balance" argument, but that comes at risk of further alienating their existing progressive viewer base. Just... why...
  6. You're forgetting both WBNS/1460 and WBNS/97.1. Those two are literal ATMs with the tOSU play-by-play rights.
  7. The logical path for "AM Bflo" has to be 12:30pm. I'm wondering if the Saturday morning edition is temporary so as to honor some existing sponsor contracts.
  8. "IT'S IN REVELATION, PEOPLE!!!"
  9. I thought there was no need for standby slides these days.
  10. Rich Lieberman definitely won't be starved for content on his blog.
  11. In truth, they are more insidious than an openly biased propaganda machine like Fox and Breitbart are. And crying "bias" at first seems to fit in with the long-standing "hurr durr the lamestream media is bad for you hurr durr blah blah blah" bellyaching common among most on the right. This time, though, it's a direct and blatant shot against all network news operations. Want to air anything critical of any elected Republican? Watch as your network feeds get cut by "accident" and we can get away with it.
  12. If Starboard Value gets an ownership stake in Scripps, katy bar the doors.
  13. You know things are FUBAR when Perry Sook emerges as a legitimate white knight.
  14. Here's The Toledo Blade write-up on WNWO's news outsourcing. More here.
  15. It already has. And to celebrate the occasion, WNWO dropped it's 5pm newscast, so they only have news from 5:30a-7a, 6p, 11p and 11p Sunday. Just wait until it becomes another KDNL.
  16. Ehhhhh... meh. I've seen better, but this also isn't the worst thing I've seen.
  17. It sounds like Sinclair inherited a trademark from an experiment by Allbritton to revamp news content for WJLA/NC8 (around the same time their Politico went mainstream). At that time, IIRC, NC8 was even renamed "TBD TV" with a logo just like the speech balloon emoji.
  18. They won't know TBD will be a failure until they start it, and it fails.
  19. And KUIL today operates as a literal extension of KBMT (12.5 and 12.6, respectively).
  20. You're forgetting WGN America. Talk about a hammer S!nclair can use to extort cable companies for every station in the whole damn chain.
  21. I'm so old I remember when KVHP 29 was the default Fox affiliate for Beaumont.
  22. Not to forget, they used the "block" branding in two separate instances - the first circa 2002 with filmed comic sketches in between the early-evening sitcoms (that stunt didn't last long) then as "My43 The Block" with a near-identical logo to the 2002 disaster. CLE43 is still a bad brand, but it's nowhere as horrific as either "block."
  23. Wouldn't someone from the Vindy walked across the hall to 21 NEWS? ////
  24. I'm curious about WLVI... and WADL (Kevin Adell made it public that he would be willing to turn in channel 38 entirely IIRC). It wouldn't surprise me to see groups like OTA quietly either disperse of their stations piecemeal or take them off the air entirely.
