  1. Anyway, this may all change if the rumored 4pm comes to fruition.

Not to go back to the conversation but a WNBC 4pm newscast would be a blessing for WABC. Ellen is a tough competitor and is keeping WABC #3 in the time slot (though First @ 4 still rates better than all the other station's 5pm newscasts). WABC would easily bump to #2 if this happens, even if WNBC had an Ellen lead-in.

Either the poor guys get a chance to nap after the noon newscast... or it's a lot of espresso shots for both of them.

The afternoon newscasts don't air on Christmas so it's just morning and the 11pm, I'm sure they even got a chance to go home in between.

  3. I think they'd *have* to offer the 4&6 to Lori first,

I think Lori would do great things for WABC in the afternoon/evenings and I don't see many reasons (minus personal reasons) why Lori would want to turn this down, she's certainly earned it after all these years.

  4. ABC's been running promos teasing a one-week-only return of a mystery personality starting January 4th. I'm getting the feeling it may be Sam filling in for Ginger.

Hmmmm.... Josh just quit NBC today, just saying...

  5. I'd imagine if Lori wanted it, she could have the 4&6. If not, they'd prob leave Shirleen on the noon and have her pick up the 6. With maybe Michele or an outsider getting the 4.

If Liz did leave (would be a sad day for WABC), I could see Lori picking up the 4&6 and either Shirleen or Michele get the morning shift.

If WABC were to go with a more extreme change, the best pairing I think would be:

    Mornings: Michele & Ken

    Noon & 4: Shirleen & David

    5: Diana & Sade

    6&11: Bill & Lori

Maybe vacancies would've been a better word.

If they were smart, I would pair Bill & Sade at 5&11, and

David & Diana at 6, Diana & Shirleen at 4, and David & Shirleen at Noon

Switching out Shirleen for Lori in the above scenarios is also plausible. No need to move or hire anyone else for these roles or holes.

I think of the 4 options you put out, this would be the best. The only problem is a lot of people like Diana and Sade as a team.

  6. Not everybody watches Family Guy... If it's a newer episode say after 2010 then they are not very good and fewer people would get the joke...

Is there anything you don't complain about? I mean seriously, he was trying to make a joke, you could have just ignored it but in typical fashion, you had the need to complain. I don't come here to read your complaints, I come here for smart discussions on specific topics.

  7. While it's not a big deal considering it was Thanksgiving week, WNT won last week in the demo beating Lester for the first time in four months.

I'd imagine he's on like a 10 to 12-hour window of availability, say like 6 or 7am when GMA starts to like 5 or 6pm (ET) when all east coasters go to local news and David begins to prep for WNT. If my serves me well, Peter Jennings would be around and available in a similar type of span, not popping up for reports until after the GMA crew was off the hook, and he'd be around (when warranted, under "normal" circumstances) til 11pm when affiliates would go to late news. Where the GMA anchors of old would cover morning special reports, David Muir now does the same in the evening hours.

I've even seen George come in during prime time sometimes. George did a special report a few weeks ago at 7:30pm est when David Muir could have easily just done it since it was right after WNT. So George is definitely taking his chief anchor roll seriously.

  8. Because it costs money to staff a studio - camera operators and stage managers. It's a lot cheaper to do a broadcast from a studio where there's one camera that's robotically operated.

Yes but this is NBC Nightly News we are talking about, not CBS 493 News in Onionville.

Kidding of course but the point stands, it is the flagship broadcast of NBC News.

  9. I feel like George is more relaxed on the 40 for 40 and it's nice to see him just relax with the correspondents. George is talking to Martha right now who is in Iraq and it's nice because it seems as though they are just having a casual conversation.
