  1. Television syndicated programs always get move on the station schedules and stations have always shuffled anchors to play up their strengths. Guy should be doing the hard news instead of a local fluff piece show. He should be up there with Ruth/Devin/Carmen. Where DIV has households names to play with their strengths where WXYZ has lost ground because of the icons have retired, and their struggling with the newbies crew. WXYZ is last in demos while FOX 2 #1 in demos and DIV #1 in HH. With WXYZ being a legacy station along with WFAA, WSB and at one time many ABC affiliates all had the same blueprint, but now WSB & WXYZ blueprint is totally opposite. While WSB had a backup plan it seems WXYZ is making it up as it goes, and I try to grasp the reporter side of Stephen Clark, but I don't get him plain and simple. WXYZ still going to struggle and there many variable at hand. a.) Scripps Howard Corporate is the big interference. b.) the different management styles c.) there seem to be no blueprint once Timmons/Lewis/Shayne/Hodak all retired. d) as much as WXYZ was a giant with the big ratings their newscast today is simply just a stale newscast a stark contrast from 20-30years ago.
  2. I think the story went a little like this... The news director at that time elevated Stephen to the evening gig, because they worked together in New York City. Guy got the ax and went over to 4 for the morning gig. You say Guy never fit the anchor mold at 7, but he was there for 18 years and succeed Rich Fisher on the 6pm and Bonds on the 11pm. Diana and Guy were great together. Stephen to me doesn't fit the mold he just irk me, and wish they would find a leading male anchor. As for Guy and since DIV is riding high in the ratings; they should go expand their 4pm news to hour with Guy and Ruth and double back at 5:30pm while Carmen/Devin do 5,6,11pm. I have a alot of family members in the Detroit market of course 7 always been the preferred choice for the last 40+ years, but I see alot of them switching to 4 and evenly shocking FOX 2. Wish CBS would of gotten 62 in the game.
  3. I wondering what newscast he will anchor? They've been shuffling anchors over there at broadcast house. Jeff doing morning news which seems to fit him. JoAnne doing Noon and Carolyn and Glenda are doing 5pm. I'm so not a fan of Stephen...They need Guy Gordon back 6/11 on 7.
  4. WGCL/CBS 46 in an epic move to change the game up Mark Primental is bringing former Atlanta anchors & reporters for doing a segment at the end of the 5pm (5:556pm) news it called " Just a minute ." http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wgcl-taps-veteran-talent-for-one-minute-opinions/149707 http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2015/06/04/cbs46-brings-back-amanda-davis-sally-sears-kimberly-kennedy-for-just-a-minute/ http://www.cbs46.com/category/300708/just-a-minute Features: Paul Crawley- WXIA Amanda Davis- WSB & WAGA Kimberly Kennedy- WSB & WXIA Bill Nigut- WSB & Georgia Public Television Mark Pettit- WXIA & CNN Angela Robinson- WAGA & WXIA Sally Sears- WSB & WAGA [btw Richard Belchers' wife of WSB] Cynthia Tinsley- WXIA Lyn Vaughn- WXIA & CNN Ken Watts- WAGA & WXIA Primental worked in Atlanta prior to WGCL. He has worked at WSB and once news director at WXIA. The segment will air on Start 6/15.
  5. FTVlive.com is reporting that Jeff Tanchak is out at CBS19 and the station making many changes. Along with branding name to Cleveland 19 News. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2015/6/1/out-the-door-in-cleveland
  6. Market #72 Des Moines' KCCI lead anchor Kevin Cooney will retire this Nov 24. 5pm anchor Steve Karlin will takeover Kevin's duties at 6/10pm. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/85467/kcci-des-moines-anchor-kevin-cooney-to-retire
  7. @TVNewsLover In this climate of television there seem to be a shift to have (2) women anchoring the news together. At one time Hearst had a few stations where (2) female would anchor the 11pm. There seems to be a shift where women are on the anchor desk vs. the male/female tradition of anchoring. I think that going to be the new normal of (2) female either on station marquee 5 or 6pm news.
  8. Yes, alot of Gannett stations do need some new logos that have been around for several decades. However, W*USA, KTHV went to the bargin basement of logos. WXIA, KSDK, WUSA, KXTV WTLV/WJXX, WBIR could use a refresh logo makeover for those stations.
  9. Shirleen Allicot is leaving WPVI for WABC to be noon anchor starting June 1. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/shirleen-allicot-leaving-philadelphia-for-new-york/148485
  10. Rob Elmore moves from ABC O&O WTVD to KABC to become the station news director.
  11. Despite Scripps woes WTVF owns the market, and when Scripps makes their debut NewsChannel 5 has the audience hypnotize, and glad for WKRN, but they have to pass WSMV to challenge WTVF in the ratings.
  12. @sanewsguy so has Channel 4 & FOX 29 merge into one location? Did they move into Channel4's building which was in Downtown SA? At one time both stations were separate, but they did move into someone building? Also did KSAT12 move into their new building yet, and are they going to get an actual set in the new digs?
  13. Channel 8 WISH-TV new ND comes right next door from WBNS-TV in Columbus, OH. Elbert Tucker moving over to Indy to head the news division at WISH-TV.
  14. Maybe Diana Sullivan can return to KPHO 5
  15. Ann State quits after nine months on KOIN 6 News in Portland, OR...
  16. Now more changes are in store for the ever changing CBS46/ CBS Atlanta once again. From Rodney Ho at the ajc.com; Stephany hasn't signed a new renewal and is expected to leave when her contract is up, but not sure when the actual date is but it's soon. Others have left the station as well too and the following are; Bernard Watson, Frank Wiley who now going to WEWS/Cleveland, Mike Paluska's contract wasn't renewed, Renee Starzyk wasn't renewed as well too. Renee went on to say that "The news director doesn't speak or make eye contact with you", so what will happen next at CBS46? Will Sharon Reed becoming to the Big A? Let stay tune to the souring saga of CBS46 in Atlanta......
  17. Former KRON4 & KNTV reporter Tom Sinkovitz is dealing with stage 4 lung cancer. http://richliebermanreport.blogspot.com/2015/04/tom-sinkovitz-bay-area-tv-news-veteran.html
  18. @Rasta Farian why would they get rid of Stephany Fisher? She been the familiar face on the ever changing CBS46/CBS Atlanta. For Karyn to go back to the station she started when it was an Indy outlet to CBS affiliate I can see that. As for Sharon Reed, because FTVLIVE.com reported she was spotted meeting with station execs. Stephany has been a main stay with the station for 12 years.
  19. Rodney Ho reports WSB-TV Diana Davis retired from the station after 32 years last Friday. No Fanfare, and no big party. What going on in market #9?
  20. I did see on facebook that Mike Landess' wife still lives in Denver so he commute back from Colorado & Texas. I wonder how he feels to be back at Gannett, so much has changed since he left WXIA. I wonder if he has any Gannett stock left?
  21. I would think Chris Lawrence as well too, because I just don't seem him sitting on the weekends forever, but I don't think WRC would cut that 6pm from an hour to thirty minutes; that bread and butter for NBC. Just like Cox's mothership WSB will always keep that 6pm news an hour in house and have network at 7pm.
  22. Who do you think will get Veteran Jim Vance's job? Chris Lawrence, Shomari Stone, or Aaron Gilchrist? Some heavy hitters who would want the top job by a D.C. icon?
  23. Rodney Ho from AJC has the the official announcement that Karyn Greer out from 11Alive due to pay cut with a new contract. http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2015/03/15/confirmed-karyn-greer-has-left-11-alive-after-15-years/
  24. Yes, Jeff been doing double duty news & sports on 11 & WATL. I was wondering if she would jump ship back to 46 since she did work there, but in what capcity? Stephany & Co are trying to give 46 some identity. Let see how this will play out.
  25. @ATLNEWS46 One has to wonder what going on at the house of 11Alive....First Fred now Karyn and word on the street 11 dumping sports. --SIGH---
