  1. How is it that Baskerville's face the only one to maintain on the evening news while they have shuffle the deck many times? Does he have a high Q rating?
  2. Yeah, I've been watching Isn't that part of the rotation, because Paula, Candice are not always on and then they bring in Sherri & Sunny so it always a toss up. I still think Whoopi will be apart of the 20th season. Who going to moderate the show if Whoopi out, Joy? With this being a political season that The View niche, with the politicians coming on always seems to be their thing.
  3. Rebecca Campbell adding Daytime duties to her role at ABC. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/programming/campbell-given-abc-daytime-oversight/154079
  4. There only 4 soaps Y&R contract up in 2017, and B&B is either up 2016 or 17. Days have a 1 year renewal with the possible following year renewal. ABC owns GH so it can cancel it anytime. However those soaps cost $50million to produce a year, so if the soaps make it to 2018 & beyond would be something. I think if these networks were to streamline the serialized drama, by creating new content, and airing them for 30 minutes they can be viable again, and make the $$$ the networks are use to. Court shows & talk shows are cheaper to produce, but the talk shows are not finding their niche like 20 years ago. CBS owns The Talk and Jules' show is safe. I think they want to get The View to the 20th season and possible cancel the show. However don't be surprise if there's a 21st season. Steve Harvey, Ellen, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, The Doctors, Kelly & Michael, Rachel Ray, Wendy Williams (I don't know how how Maury/Jerry are still on) seem to be the safe, but every new talk-show doesn't last. If Harry Connick Jr, show is a success that good, but the studios/networks are looking to bring in big name stars... Oprah, Montel, Jerry, Ricki Lake, Geraldo, Jenny Jones were not big stars when they started out. They were known in their circles either local news/network news or whatever. I just hope Daytime landscape doesn't become a sea of just news. You have to entertain the audience, and give them something to escape from.
  5. Whoopi has a play or pay contract, so I don't think Whoopi going anywhere. I think Sara, Joy, Michelle, Candice will come back. Raven & Paula toss up. Raven could be on a ABC/Disney show, and Paula stick with GMA & ABC NEWS. Also Rebecca Campbell over to ABC Daytime http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/programming/campbell-given-abc-daytime-oversight/154079
  6. How many more stations will add a 4pm news?
  7. Watch many people will leave once Nexstar takes on Media General Stations. A mass exodus of people will leave or be force... Good Luck, to those employees.
  8. Last Feb/2015 an article after the Jan 2015 switch WISH-TV was still holding on to #2. http://www.ibj.com/articles/51728-wish-holds-ground-in-local-tv-news-battle
  9. Stefan Holt moves from WMAQ/Chicago to WNBC/New York as the new 4pm anchor. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/stefan-holt-to-join-wnbc-as-anchor/163942
  10. I posted the new opening last week here a link. Plus it was time for a new theme. http://forums.tvnewstalk.net/index.php?threads/wbns-10tv-columbus-oh.15260/
  11. He had a great run in Chicago at (2) stations in the market.
  12. Yay! Glad she back all the speculation that she was going to NBC Boston.
  13. Robb Ellis new Chief Meteorologist at WIS-TV NBC/Columbia, SC. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wis-names-chief-meteorologist/162404 Who will be on weather patrol in the evenings at WISH-TV once he leaves?
  14. Atlanta (WSB Cox-mothership) (WGCL-Meredith cellar dwellar)
  15. @24994J With all these CBS O&O stations it appears that CBS has invested the money into certain operations; No Idk Yes WCBS, WBBM, KYW, WWJ KPIX,WFOR, WJZ KCBS, KTVT, KCNC, WCCO, WBZ, KDKA As for WBBM, I'm trying to understand them and when you look through the many decades on YouTube. What could move the needle up at BBM? It seem when they had Diann Burns, & Ahern at the wheel they were making strides, but with CBS' top prime-time viewing one would see BBM ratings at 10pm up. Also Steve Baskerville seems have been with the station for many years, and have to survive the many managers, and he's still there. What his story?
  16. Don't know if it was reported, but David Wittman left CBS 19 in Cleveland back on Dec 18, 2015. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv/tv-guy/os-wkmg-alum-david-wittman-leaving-cleveland-20160106-post.html
  17. Do you think Rob Johnson made a mistake going over to CBS 2 instead of sticking with ABC 7, and could of moved up into a daytime role either morning or evening? Watching CBS 2 News in the evening it just missing so many elements, and there no chemistry with Rob & Irika. However there was chemistry w/ Rob & Kate.
  18. I so agree with you both, because Sara is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than, Paula who tries so hard and it doesn't work. Paula good at GMA, and reporting, but on The View she not flavor of the month IMO. Whoopi, Michelle, Joy, Candace, and Sara Haines that panel works IMO really well.
  19. Yeah, and I think Cox should buy all of ABC O&O and merge with Scripps, but it not going to happen. Scripps & TEGNA are so parallel that I get them mixed up at times.
  20. Mike Jackson and Colleen Marshall make good sense. Mike been with 4 since 1994, and Colleen will celebrate 30 yrs with the station next yr. Ellie & Duane will just do the 5PM News, but many don't like Duane. Also I'm surprise Gabe Spiegel not looking at 4 or 10. He moving back to town. He's a communication director at some company. He no longer on WJW 4pm news.
  21. Speaking of WBAL, I do remember they live stream their news, but I see their news is on demand giving you a video of a different newscast. However Hearst' WCVB was doing live stream. Does BAL still live stream?
  22. Question have there been any weather personalities that have transfer from weather to news? We see many go from sports to news, but has there been some go from weather to news?
  23. Retirement videos for the following Cabot Rea at WCMH/ NBC 4 in Columbus, Ohio retired on Dec 18, 2015 after 30 years with the station. http://nbc4i.com/2015/12/18/30-years-with-cabot-rea-cabots-last-day/ Ruth Spencer at WDIV/ Local 4 in Detroit also retired on Dec18, 2015 after 25 years with the station. http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/ruth-spencers-reflections-on-her-career
  24. Derek Beasley will be the new chief meteorologist at WFTX in Southwest, FL. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/wftx-introduces-derek-beasley-as-chief-meteorologist/160785
  25. In Atlanta, WSB-TV has reporter Don McClellan who been apart of WSB for over a half of a century, and up in his 80s no doubt. Yes, he not on the street beat daily, but every now and then he pops up. Over at rival WXIA there Bill Liss who probably in his 70s, but both are a fixture on Atlanta TV News, and have been around for years.
