A better signoff would be "If you can't watch us live, stream us at 10:30/9:30 central on CBS News Streaming".

Sure, that sounds better, but those are two different asks.  If people DVR the broadcast it contributes to the program's ratings.

Outdoor stuff could build back up more much like today is slowly doing so with the Covid changing more and more

Alternatively, GMA's gradual phasing-out of Times Square backdrops and outdoor segments may be a subtle effort to wean the audience off of that element of the show.  It may be an indication that Disney plans to relocate GMA to Hudson Square and sell the Times Square Studio once ABC News moves to its new headquarters.

  3. Recall that Khemlani's charge was to cut costs across the division.  It would not surprise me if this were a sly but effective tactic by CBS in Norah's contract renegotiation to suggest to her that she is dispensable, in an effort to counter her request for more money.

Here’s a pic of the revamped weekend studio that mimics the TS studio. Honestly— kinda looks a little better than TS.

Still not sure what that art project behind them is supposed to be.  But I agree -- they did a nice job bring this into the HQ space.

  5. Unlikely for Shep to take that slot.  Most people at that stage of their career don't want to be working until midnight.  Though on a smaller network, he's got a nice early primetime slot.

I'm sure it wasn't Brian Williams' first choice to anchor an 11 p.m. show either, but that was the opportunity he was given to rehabilitate his career.

Could Chris Wallace also be in the running to replace Chris Cuomo in primetime?

The primetime hour does better (i.e., attracts more viewers) with an opinionated host than a facts-only host.  Wallace is the latter.

Call me crazy, but could the new CNN+ be the eventual replacement for CNN itself?

That's the long-game every media entity launching a streaming service is playing.  In the short term it may be an additional source of revenue (or medium term, as in the short term they may incur a loss).  But in the long term, they're betting cable will become obsolete, and people will pick and choose which streaming services to subscribe to for their primary content consumption.  Those with well-established streaming platforms when that time comes will be better positioned than those racing to catch up.

  7. Here's something to ponder: If Chris Cuomo had been promoted from newsreader to co-anchor of GMA when Diane Sawyer took over WNT (and he was passed over in favor of George), then all three of the major networks would have ultimately lost their morning show male co-anchors to sexual harassment complaints.

  8. This also has to do with lead-ins.  The highest-rated stations in most of the top DMAs across the country (NYC, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, et al.) are not CBS stations.  So, people watching their local evening news (who keep their TVs on for the network evening news) are often not watching CBS.

    This is what they did.

Joy tossed to commercial and then it was just Joy and Sara. The show ended up being mostly audience questions, which was actually great to watch!

They went to commercial after Sunny and Ana were pulled on air.

The previous commenter was suggesting they could have pulled Sunny and Ana during a commercial break and returned with just Joy and Sara.

Don't know exactly what the show's processes were but I assume the Secret Service was calling at least some of the shots at that point.

The lawsuits don’t seem to implicate any on-air talent of wrongdoing.

Correct.  Stephanopoulos notified three separate ABC News executives about the allegations when he learned of them.

And despite Lori being a really nice and genuine broadcaster, Sade is much more polished in her presenting style.

I don’t remember Lori being as woeful reading the news at channel 7 as she is at 5. It must be something in the air at Fox.

The anchors at WNYW control the teleprompter themselves with a remote, which would probably screw with anyone's delivery.
