  1. We could always make it a bit longer: From ABC News World Headquarters at the Barbara Walters Building on Peter Jennings Way in New York, this is World News Tonight with David Muir!
  2. I'm surprised they didn't air their security camera footage.
  3. I personally think Ana Navarro brings more in terms of opinion and humor, but Sara is pleasant and will probably again be a mediating force.
  4. Love the movement of that music package!
  5. Great sendoff. Tim really represented the gravitas, authority, and trust of EWN. He's been one of the reasons WABC remains the number one station in the nation. Now, lest we forget the extent to which Tim really has been around the block, just two years ago Tim was punched in the face while covering a story! https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/eyewitness-news-reporter-punched-face-queens-article-1.3926405
  6. I know it's semantics, but no one knows when the pandemic is going to be "over." I don't think there's going to be a date on which people say "okay, we've won, back to normal." There will come a time when a vaccine is widely distributed, deaths and hospitalizations decrease, and the story is no longer the story of the day. But that will happen gradually. As has been mentioned, ABC has already begun positioning it to be a general news hour that doesn't rely on COVID coverage. I'm sure the program will continue as long as ABC is satisfied with its ratings or until they come up with a better idea.
  7. ABC broke in a bit before midnight on Friday night. Tai Hernandez anchored the break-in and Byron Pitts narrated the piece.
  8. This is a bit of a unique example as it wasn't national news, per se, but was treated as such by CBS News because Bob Simon was one of their own. This aired during a commercial break in primetime and is typical of the "breaking news during commercial break" style of special report:
  9. Yup, he was. And it's the role he's still been filling thus far. Initially reporting during the week and on the anchor desk only to fill in. Now reporting during the week and anchoring the weekend broadcast. It's historically true that the Anchor/Reporter role is for WABC's weekend anchors. That said, easy to forget that Shirleen Allicot was also hired for an Anchor/Reporter role. Initially she anchored the noon broadcast and reported for the 4/5/6. Her role of course has since changed.
  10. Interesting indeed. Based on history, the fact that it's an Anchor/Reporter posting would suggest it's to fill a weekend spot.
  11. Speaking of Torres, this is the setup they decided to jerry-rig for Tiempo:
  12. I think people are confusing pointing out untruthful statements with open disdain. If an elected leader makes a statement that is contradicted by facts or by reporting, then it's a journalist's obligation to hold them accountable and say so. There was a period of time during and after the 2016 election when news outlets went out of their way to highlight "all sides" or "all points of view," even when one of them was clearly misleading or not supported by facts. We are starting to see more and more outlets, including CNN and others, be more proactive in speaking truth to power, which is why you see anchors being more aggressive in noting fact vs. fiction.
  13. Lee is also doing weather from home.
  14. I think Ana lives in Florida and flies in for Friday shows. Could be that she doesn't want to fly and they don't want to send a camera crew to her.
  15. Tara Palmeri appears to have disappeared from ABC, only to have turned up as the host of a podcast about Jeffrey Epstein.
  16. He won’t return to the weekend morning show but he will continue reporting through mid March. Unclear if the weekend morning show will do highlight reel or acknowledgement of his departure.
  17. We're talking about this two-story mini city?
  18. First, the CBS producers who posted the clip of that line of questioning should have known better. It was a small line of questioning, part of a much larger interview about Bryant and his life, and without context reduced an otherwise-good interview to a single moment. Bryant was accused of sexual assault, and in this Me Too era, a neutral look-back on his life would be incomplete without at least an acknowledgement. In the scope of the entire interview, that's all it was. But CBS chose to go for click bate, and it blew up in their face. Second, I expect you'd know better than to post something so dismissive. Gayle worked as a reporter and anchor at WUSA, WJZ, WDAF, and WFSB, long before joining CBS. She's qualified.
  19. Strahan spoke to NYT about, among other things, his botched exit from LIVE. He clearly thinks Kelly was out of line. https://pagesix.com/2020/01/29/michael-strahan-on-past-tv-gigs-i-didnt-know-i-was-supposed-to-be-a-sidekick/
  20. Matt Gutman has been suspended by ABC News for erroneous reporting during the live helicopter crash special report. He initially reported all four of the Bryant children were killed in the crash; he later issued a correction on air.
  21. Abby Huntsman is leaving The View to work on her father’s campaign for governor in Utah. Friday is her last day.
  22. Consistent with rumblings that the entire floor is undergoing major construction.
  23. I don’t think props are in order, personally. CBS EN covered it for 10+ minutes of the 30 minute broadcast. How many times can you say ‘Iranian rockets struck an air base with US troops’ over and over again? That’s all that was known at the time of broadcast; anything more was speculation. If WNT carried the story for more than a third of the broadcast, it is consistent with its trend of leveraging the urgency of the news. Also, CBS and NBC immediately followed their evening newscasts with special reports, while ABC is airing normal programming.
