I don't doubt they'll get another year.  However, if I were a CBS affiliate manager, I wouldn't dare drop either show but I'd be praying for the day I could expand my noon newscast to an hour and go head-to-head with the ABC, NBC, or even Fox affiliates from 12-1.  I know, there are a few stations doing it (WLKY, KOTV, to name two) but right now I don't think many stations want to mess up viewing habits in the middle of the day.

Y&R staying on CBS and B&B going to Paramount Plus would solve that, since I don’t think the B&B going to an hour/Talk getting cancelled scenario will ever come to pass. The only bad thing would be CT getting Y&R a whole hour ahead of ET.

Maybe Y&R to 1 and B&B to 2 and Talk shortened to 30 minutes. There’s no soap on ABC or NBC at 1 anymore for Y&R to get a jump on.

I never watch soaps unless I'm somewhere where a TV is on.  I was in such a place at lunchtime one day last week, and Y&R was on.  I'm almost shocked at how Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott have aged, and--along with Eric Braeden--they could be considered the stars of the show.  Braeden says his cancer is in remission, but he's in his 80s so how many years does he have left?  Over at B&B Katharine Kelly Lang definitely looks 63.  And these people are identified with their respective shows!  It makes me wonder just what will happen when they go--just like I wonder what will happen to Wheel of Fortune when Vanna goes.

Speaking of Y&R and B&B their contracts are up this year.

Looks like CW may have quietly expanded Sundays to 7/6c. There's network repeats scheduled in that timeslot starting on 10/1.

WCCB still has The Neighborhood listed on zap2it but they are usually slow to update.

    Update from the Big O:

The Equalizer goes to KMTV 3 (CBS), at midnight on Saturday nights. The Equalizer airs on CBS so no shocker here.

Network affiliation had nothing to do with KMTV picking up The Equalizer in syndication. Just pure coincidence.

That would be KECI in Missoula. A strange daytime schedule, but it is what it is. Hoda and Jenna air at noon. Person, Place or Thing replaced one run of Pictionary two weeks ago.

At least they air it. And they stand out from the same clock time schedule that most NBC affiliates in all time zones use.

The station doesn't have a subchannel it can pawn TND onto.

Yeah…they kinda had to pick their abnormality airing TND at 9. Either Live or Y&R was getting bumped to 3.

Would that be best, or did the station have data that says otherwise? 3 pm for Y&R feels like a big stretch that would need some compelling business rationale, which isn’t “but Live feels like a morning show.” It is light fluffy entertainment well suited to mornings, but light fluffy talk can work in afternoons.

WLKY in Louisville still airs Y&R at 4 for what it’s worth

Live is specifically meant to be aired in the morning. Bizarre scheduling.

Back in the early-mid '90s WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, IN would also air "Live" in the afternoon. In fact it may have been a 4pm lead-in to their 5pm news. Can't recall what they aired in the 9am slot.

Ok, but just.. why would you do that? Unbelievable scheduling. Before the debut of The National Desk, I know they placed it at 9 but just.. why 3? You could atleast join the PACIFIC feed (because The Price is Right is at 11/10c).

The strangest scheduling of Kelly & Mark I've seen is KRCG in Jefferson City, Mo. Sometime this year it was bumped to 3 p.m., making room for Sinclair's National Desk at 9.

The best alternative would have been to put Kelly and Ryan at 11 and Y&R at 3.

It’s time for another “What the hell?”

WJAR (an NBC affiliate) in Providence, RI airs the first, second, and third hours of Today at regular times, but inbetween, WJAR airs Live with Kelly and Mark at 10:00am (effectively joining the central time feed, despite the city being in eastern time), and then airs Today with Hoda and Jenna.

    What happened to my post?

I swore I posted that WXII delays Today 3rd Hour and Hoda and Jenna by an hour to air Kelly and Mark at 9. And that sister station WYFF doesn’t air Hoda and Jenna at all. They also air Kelly and Mark at 9 and 3rd Hour at 10 and a random syndicated program at 11am (currently Dateline). Maybe I forgot to hit send. Same thing happened yesterday when I thought I had mentioned the handful of affiliates that aired GL at 10am in the mid 2000s.

Several CBS stations—most of them O&Os (e.g., WCBS, KCBS, WFOR, KDKA, WBBM), but also about a dozen affiliates (e.g., KOIN, WKMG, WANF [then WGCL], WANE, WCSC)—actually ran Guiding Light in the 10:00/9:00 a.m. hour during the last few years of its run, with LMAD inheriting GL’s alternate timeslots.

I thought I had mentioned that

Technically, CBS still does. Let's Make a Deal runs at 10A Eastern. However, some affiliates have chosen to air it later in the day

You are right. They have a choice of 10am or 3pm. 10am is the recommended time slot. However they technically didn’t program 10am-11am from 1992 when the Family Feud Challenge was cancelled until 2009 when LMAD replaced Guiding Light. (Except for the few affiliates that aired Guiding Light at 10am, CBS even started feeding GL at 10am). Many affiliates including WBTV didn’t clear that though I should have said they used to program BOTH 10am-11am and 3-4pm and now they get to pick one of those hours. Until 1986 they also programmed 4-4:30pm. I am not sure if WBTV cleared what they aired in that time slot although they did briefly clear Tattletales at 1pm on a delay.

At least back in 1984, CBS affiliates had that time slot to themselves.  So many crap shows are on the air simply because the networks won't return time to their affiliates.

CBS also programmed 10-11am ET, but the programming was better.

  13. According to the Futon Critic ABC will only be airing Monday Night Countdown on December 11 and on Christmas and before the Saturday games. They were already scheduled to air a game on 12/11. So that would mean only two more Wheel preemptions the rest of the football season after this coming Monday, with one of them being on Christmas night. King World probably put their foot down. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/monday-night-football/listings/

What's worst is next week, ABC will carry the early 7:15 game (ESPN will have the 8:15). That'll pre-empt both J! & Wheel.

Well that's pretty annoying to be honest. Hopefully this is the only time this season

@WheelWarriorWOLO in Columbia, SC  has completely crapped on Wheel of Fortune. They normally air Wheel at 7 and Jeopardy at 7:30, but instead of airing Jeopardy in place of one of their Judge Judys at 4 or 4:30 they are moving Jeopardy up to 7 tomorrow night to air Monday Night Countdown. They are dropping Andy Griffith for half of Drew Barrymore at 12:30pm so that wasn’t an option but they could’ve spared one of their Judge Judys. And they are not airing Wheel in late night according to their website.

They actually could have used 12:30pm for Jeopardy now that Drew will be a rerun.

  16. Correct schedule for WMYT:

Equal Justice airs at 1 and 1:30pm instead of 11:30am and 12:30pm, Dateline is gone, will start on WAXN next week at 11am.

Two runs of We The People at 11am and two runs of Divorce Court at noon, not just one.

  17. I haven’t seen many changes in Charlotte weekend syndication. It looks like the stations didn’t pick up a whole lot. WMYT did pick up Fast Home Rescue, and Pawn Stars and Storage Wars will now be airing on weekends on WAXN. Also, two runs of Young Sheldon replace two runs of Big Bang Theory at 8pm on Sunday nights on WMYT so now it’s four straight Young Sheldons from 7-9pm and just two Big Bang Theorys from 9-10pm. And of course the Equalizer replacing Magnum, PI on WAXN. Friends will continue to be weekend filler on WCCB.

I would expect to see Fast Home Rescue show up some on WJZY too when they have some local time on weekends after football season ends.

ABC has bigger things to focus on, like the network programming, not syndication for a few episodes. No one is somehow doing something to Wheel, nor any specific show. It’s just the nature of the business. Win some, lose some. Ultimately, the benefit of MNF across the network far, far outweighs a couple preempted game show episodes.

I get it, but Wheel should be allowed to air earlier in the day or the next day if preempted

  19. I just realized something. The last 30 minutes of Monday Night Countdown is being simulcast on ABC affiliates this year the weeks that they simulcast a MNF game. It preempts Entertainment Tonight on WSOC which is being rerun in late night. So you know what else won’t be shown on the East Coast O&O’s? The season premiere of Wheel of Fortune. I’m sure @WheelWarrior will be just thrilled to hear about that. I guess WTVD could air it during Daytime Jeopardy’s time slot in late night.
