  1. I just cut the cord yesterday. I've been dragging my feet on this issue, but finally being hit with a $175 bill for the medium tier, no DVR and no extras, finally pushed me over the edge. I'm streaming for now and none of these Sinclair networks are on any of the streaming packages. I doubt I will miss them. Cable is down to 60% penetration because of price increases.
  2. You see, this is where the media has changed. They used to at least try to speak truth to power and tried to expose wrongs committed by "the man." Now the national media is in bed with "the man." Flynn was railroaded. Back in the old days, the media would have caused a stink about railroading people. But I guess now that they are the PR department of Government, Inc. they're not allowed to do that anymore. This is the worst part about media consolidation. Fewer voices = more of this uniparty garbage.
  3. When two three-star generals spend over an hour explaining what happened, you listen. Or at least you also present their side of the story. You don't embargo that information because it might prop up your unpreferred candidate. I will address this matter again in a few weeks after the fake news (which I don't even watch anymore) has more egg on its face. But back to the subject of Sinclair. So everybody has the right to present their slant to a story so long as it's left leaning and comports with official propaganda, is that correct? God forbid that someone have an alternative opinion so let's shut them down ... just like the good old days in the Soviet Union! It isn't enough that Hearst, Nexstar, Tegna and all the rest sing from the same script, now we have to force Sinclair to conform too? There are two things related to Sinclair that drive me nuts. This one from the left I opined on above where they don't allow Sinclair to have an alternative viewpoint, and this next one from both the left AND RIGHT who don't understand that THIS IS A FREAKING PROMO!!!
  4. MSM doesn't push agendas? LOL! What's the old saying about whenever there's a vacuum, something will always go in to fill it? The vacuum is relevant, accurate, unbiased news. Very few places to find it, if any. (And no, I don't mean Faux News, which is neocon central, not to mention boring.) The national news media is the PR department of the largest employer in their company town (the federal government). When you see who is going to be president for the next four years and you see what the MSM has been deliberately hiding from you, it will be the MSM's final nail in the coffin and good riddance. Their baseline assumptions are awful, their propaganda is stale and only a minority of people believe them anymore. Local media is halfway decent when it comes to news--boring, but decent. But the national media sucks big time. Enjoy this link because it's not too far off from what's about to unfold. The "Great Awakening" is coming very soon. General Flynn (probably the next President after Trump) and General McInerney are both heavy hitters and the 305th Military Cyber Battalion McInerney mentions in this interview has all the goods on the attempted election steal. Fireworks are coming. https://www.worldviewweekend.com/news/article/wvw-tv-exclusive-lt-general-michael-flynns-first-interview-president-trumps-pardon
  5. Why do you keep pushing for a sale? What does a financier have to offer anybody in the broadcast industry? Anytime there's a sale, companies are forced to take on debt. When they take on more debt, usually the employees suffer the brunt of it. But that's beside the point. If somebody comes up to you and demands to buy your house, you're under no obligation to sell it to him. What makes Kim so special? The other shareholders see what his agenda is. They're not going to sell if they don't want to.
  6. The Dispatch stations were supposedly going to be paid for out of earnings. When you do things that way, it's almost the same way the Wolfe's did things. You're just farming money.
  7. Let me tell you a little secret. Coronageddon will be over on Good Friday.
  8. WBNS: I don't care for the purple and the 2D look. I also think they need to do a better job mixing the music. Otherwise, not bad. Looks fine.
  9. That dude is old!
  10. I see what's going on now. It looks like it's a 4:3 transmission from the source, but it's being stretched out to 16:9 on Channel 23.2. EDIT: It looks like it's supposed to be 16:9 and WBNS is squeezing it. It may just be a glitch.
  11. Just black. But it's basically a simulcast of what's showing on 23.2, which is in full 16: 9. Weird. Does Tegna make any money from these networks? It seems like a real small niche.
  12. Yup, 10.4 is now Justice. The TV says 16:9, but they're showing it at 4:3 with the side curtains. Justice is also still on 23.2 at a full 16:9 (and better picture quality).
  13. Like I said, the media not mentioning party affiliation if a Democrat is involved is a running joke on conservative sites. Here's a sample from Instapundit: (Glenn Reynolds links stories like these frequently, but the search terms I used only picked up a sample.) 1. Not once in a ten-paragraph report did the AP find the space to mention Dukes’ party affiliation — D-Austin. 2. There was no mention of party affiliation in any of the first 9 news articles.” 3. CBS Doesn’t Mention Jesse Jackson Jr. is a Democrat in Story About His Sentencing. It’s in the Style Guide: Party affiliation of disgraced pols is only relevant if they’re Republican. 4. OCCUPY CLEVELAND PARTICIPANT PLEADS GUILTY TO BOMBING PLOT. AP leaves mention of his affiliation to the last paragraph of the story. I’m sure they’d do the same if the Tea Party were involved. . . . 5. IT’S TIME TO PLAY NAME THAT PARTY! This story in the New York Times about the sentencing of New York State Senator Carl Kruger for corruption omits any mention of his party affiliation. And, sure enough, it turns out he’s a Democrat. Thanks to reader Thaddeus Perry for pointing this out. 6. UPDATE: About a gazillion readers wonder why Rep. Ackerman’s party affiliation isn’t mentioned. Yeah, go figure. 7. They don’t mention his party affiliation anywhere, but it turns out he’s a Democrat. A.P. should try using Google next time . . . . 8. But that’s not all. Read the whole thing. And try to guess her (unmentioned) political affiliation . . . . 9. It mentions that Young is, indeed, a GOP lawmaker. 10.“The LA Times never mentions Mr. Shelley’s party affiliation. Is it safe to assume he is a Democrat?” Yes, it is. https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/?s=mention+affiliation
  14. We're on to the PC games the media plays. For a while, they weren't describing the race of a suspect if it's black. Suspected muslims either don't get their names mentioned or are referred to as being of "asian" origin. When you report on a corrupt politician, you almost always report party affiliation if it's Republican. very rarely if it's a Democrat. Do you think people don't notice this stuff? It's a running joke on conservative sites.
  15. Have they reported the name yet? When they don't report the name, that usually means it is someone from the group we suspected. (Allahu Akbar!)
  16. They featured the WCMH Chopper 4 in a recent ad, for whatever that's worth.
  17. I bet the dollar to peso conversion rate is so favorable, these bureaus are costing them virtually nothing.
  18. This Tom McGee? I vaguely remember something ... Interesting clip, by the way.
  19. I'm pretty sure they are all 16:9/480i. But I agree, 480i can look real good sometimes. I'll tell you who has a good-looking channel and that's Daystar at 1080i (WCLL-CD Channel 19). Not that I watch a lot of that stuff, but their video work on some of their shows when I am flipping through channels is very eye-catching.
  20. Believe it or not, Bounce 23 does a pretty good job being local. Bounce has some local community oriented programming. They also do local cut-ins on Justice. I don't know what their call letters are now (WQ??-LD) but they used to be W23BZ.
  21. WBNS put up two more subchannels today. 10.4 is a test pattern but it says TBD, 10.5 is Quest. 10.1 looks a little glassy. I think they're trying to cram too much into their signal with 5 sub channels. Just don't get rid of Me TV.
  22. For a long time it was rumored that WBNS was going to get a new building, which makes sense since the current building dates back to 1949 and has been expanded at least three or four times. Tegna seems to like to lease space instead of owning, which might make things more affordable. Big corporations don't like to own real estate anyway. Do they finally get nice digs like WKYC?
  23. Why do that? The perfect time for a switch is January 1.
  24. I can see why the Disney brand has to stay clean, I just can't see why 20th Century Fox is any different than DreamWorks and whatever other brand names they have ownership of. If I were Disney, I would want to keep my product separate from the more visible Fox network. Especially since I own ABC. Like I said, you don't go to the movie theater to watch a movie just because it was mady by Sony. You make that decision on a movie by movie basis based on what the movie is about, the reviews and who the stars are. I don't see it working in the long run.
  25. Why? I can see the value of using that brand for a TV network, but do you really care what company makes a movie you're watching? Especially some movies where they flash logos for four or five different production companies at the beginning. DreamWorks, Fox, Sony, Columbia ... None of them really mean anything, in my opinion. Maybe the Fox branding is valuable for the cable channels they inherited, but I don't think it matters what they call the movie studio.
