  1. I was just about to post here for the same reason! I first noticed it on Sunday morning. It was weird to see Jim sitting at the "small" desk. I'm curious what they're doing. The video wall is only a few years old. We can only hope new graphics are coming too!!
  2. They don't own the drone, the service is provided by Lehigh Valley Drone: http://lvdrone.com/
  3. I read that 69.3 and 69.4 are being sent to KJWP. I can't imagine that they wouldn't leave space, somehow, for the Accu-weather Channel, considering the large staff they have for it!
  4. WFMZ sold its broadcasting spectrum in the FCC auction. It'll use the funds to expand into the OTT realm and develop apps for Roku, Apple TV, etc: http://www.wfmz.com/news/lehigh-valley/wfmz-tv-expansion-fueled-by-fcc-auction/451004991 PBS 39 also participated.
  5. Really, Sunday night is the highest viewed news of the week?
  6. LOL she's "off" because she works Sundays with Walter Perez. I still don't understand that - I mean, they are great together, but why do they need 2 people only on Sundays?
  7. It's back at the regular time now!
  8. For at least 20 years, they have ended the 6:30 AM news hit with the full weather forecast ending at 6:40. This week they started to end that segment with an extended traffic update with Karen and a brief weather update before going to break. Kind of stupid, I wonder what the reason is?
  9. It's on my DVR but I didn't watch it yet! I'll save it for some night this week when there's nothing to watch.
  10. LOL I don't remember if they did or not ... but they didn't even try to shorten it. It still ran about the same time even though it started around 10:15, then the Berks Edition was also delayed.
  11. They just aired 10 minutes of a loop of various religious programming commercials, then Wendy & Rob abruptly came on - no open or anything - and said they had some "technical issues" then 10 seconds later threw it to Ed for the weather. This happens far too often.
  12. Looks like the first use of QuadCopter69 (that I've seen) not for traffic purposes: http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-lehighvalley/crews-respond-to-apartment-fire-in-lehigh-county/42031628
  13. I know, right (on the name) ?! Here's a link to the article about it: http://www.wfmz.com/news/sunrise/69-news-unveils-traffic-drone-quadcopter-69/41929868
  14. They debuted "Quadcopter 69" on the news this morning and also just now on the news at 5. A drone operated by Lehigh Valley Drones. They flew it live over Route 22. The operator said he worked with news helicopters in DC and has been interested in broadcasting since then. It sounded like he actually approached WFMZ about it, citing a lack of news helicopter in the Valley. I think it's great, it was a neat shot to see aerial views of 22 @ Airport Road, something we don't see often around here! I wonder how often and what they will use it for.
  15. I've seen a few new faces lately so I'd wondered who left. I hate that we get this "good talent" and then they leave! But I suppose that's the nature of the beast.
  16. WFMZ is now showing first-run episodes of "Harry" at 9am and also Rachel Ray at 3pm. They are the current day's shows and NOT a few days behind like Dr. Phil is. Rachel Ray actually really surprises me - she's got a pretty successful show. And to show at 3pm is a good time slot. Makes me wonder how many other national big shows WFMZ could afford.
  17. 6ABC launched their own weather balloon live around 6:45 this morning. Adam Joseph made a large post about it: <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F6abcAdamJoseph%2Fposts%2F10155264550118696&width=500" width="500" height="714" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe> Not sure if that link works or not. I don't really understand the purpose of this. It already came down. What good was that data? Was it just ratings hype? Cool nonetheless.
  18. 6ABC had some sort of technical problems last night and the 11 pm show didn't come on the air until about 11:15. They posted about it on Facebook.
  19. Good for him! Yeah, I wonder what happened to Bryan ... so odd!
  20. According to LinkedIn, Hilary Lane now is at WUSA-TV. Good for her, but it's a shame because she was really good.
  21. After the 2014 Winter Olympics, though, I'm pretty sure that they were doing digital updates on the app. They're not that this year, it seems.
  22. Agreed, but neither was George when he started and I think he has come around quite a bit.
  23. FMZ has 3 people at the RNC in Cleveland -- seems a little overkill to me? Wendy Davis being one of them. It's strange -- when either Rob or Wendy are off, it's just solo with the other. But right now, Rob is off and Wendy is at the RNC, so Jim & Joy did all the newscasts this afternoon, and also tonight. Why can't one of them fill in for Rob or Wendy on a regular basis?? Their substitute policies make no sense! I really hate when Eve or Jaciel anchor a 4 hour morning newscast by themselves. EDIT: Wendy scored an interview with Dan Rather. That's interesting.
  24. George did the special report around 4:00 when the Baton Rouge press conference was going on.
  25. Monica Malpass posted a 15 minute video of the rooftop of 6ABC - not sure why, but I watched the whole thing! She was talking to the tech guy at the station and they talked about the satellites and all that. Interesting!
