The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread

WFMZ has some super blurry cameras that they use out in the field - awful! -
Wow, had no idea Rick Edwards was gone! My mother mentioned that there was a new traffic reporter and they were struggling a bit on Monday. Matt Broderick has been absent from the noon show lately, periodically.
-
They seem to be experimenting with fill-in anchors. In the past several weeks I've seen Will Lewis, Ryan Hughes, and just this past week Jamie Stover and today Rosa Duarte. I guess maybe they're just still short staffed since Melanie Falcon is still out on maternity leave...

Surprised nobody here has posted this: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/07/23/candace-cameron-bure-paula-faris-officially-joins-the-view-as-co-hosts/436365/ Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris are joining The View. Wonder what that means for weekend GMA?

Yesterday, I saw Monica at 6 and Rick at 11, and Alicia Vitarelli was doing the noon. Really odd that poor Erin O'Hearn had to work at 4am and 4pm today! I think Erin O'Hearn would be a great replacement for Shirleen at 4 & 10. Although I guess that would mean she couldn't fill in in the mornings. She'd probably prefer mornings since she has at least 3 children, I think...

Wow, they can't even find someone to do a traffic report?
-
What already was a trainwreck of newscasts just got way worse! I wouldn't be surprised if they get a reporter to start giving forecasts?
-
They sent out a link to this on the 6ABC app (a little ridiculous for a push notification) and it was great!
-
Some people do work on Saturdays. There must be some sort of an audience ... WFMZ started a Saturday AM newscast about 2 or 3 years ago, after never having one before. It airs from 7-9AM.
-
How interesting. I thought 6 had a policy of not grabbing up people from competing stations! 12 years ago seems to be about the time that Dave Roberts decided to scale back and Cecily Tynan went from mornings to nights...at the same time that Sally Ann Mosey seemed to disappear. I always liked her.

Chances are, people who have come to watch World News Tonight followed by Jeopardy for decades are not going to turn the channel just to watch the lottery drawing, then go back. Does this mean the lottery numbers won't be shown on Action News anymore, or is that "general information" once the drawing happens? -

Whoa!!! Did not see that coming! After how many decades??? What influences these types of decisions? -
I rarely watch the 10pm on PHL17, but tuned it right around 10:30. Brian Taff did a little schpiel about the bad storms standing up at the video wall. Is this something they do often on 10pm? If so, why not any of the others?!

Wow, what a blow to Kathy Orr! I never watch CBS3 for news, and by that I literally mean, never, but Kathy Orr has been a fixture in Philly for a while. And wasn't it a huge deal that they lured her from channel 10?
-
Yes, I've always liked her in a different way when anchoring solo. She's really good at being serious and looking genuine serious. She and Rick are second to none though with the banter. Monica's really great at ad libbing during breaking news, really one of the best I think.
-
And tonight Monica is in for Jim!
-
I think Cecily's on vacation, at least I'm assuming she is based on the pictures she's posted on Facebook lately! I was glued to my TV for at least 20 straight minutes listening to him. I learned a lot!
-
LOL well Monica should do something! Anyone catch any of Adam Joseph doing the tornado warnings tonight? Wow! I tuned in around 6:05 and was glued to the TV. He did a great job, explained everything so technically but also so well so you could understand it, and held his own during various equipment problems. Jim Gardner kept throwing him the dumbest questions and he tackled them with ease. Check out all the comments on his Facebook page.

Woops! Yes ... there used to be a Will Butler on 69 a few years ago!
-
Will Butler is filling in for Jaciel at noon today - not sure if he was on in the morning or not. I think he is okay, but could be better ... he doesn't seem to speak with a "flow" but rather you can tell he is reading one word at time...if that makes any sense!
-
I saw her do a report last night at 11 pm. Didn't know she worked at WFMZ - I don't really recall that. But they get so many transient reporters sometimes it's hard to keep track of.
-
He's already the weekend morning meteorologist! I thought you meant "resigned" not re-signing as in renewing!
-
This article was in my local newspaper today (even though it apparently was written June 1st?!): http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/how-abcs-world-news-tonight-became-a-ratings-winner/2015/06/01/e88ea494-04af-11e5-a428-c984eb077d4e_story.html
-
Oh, good for her! I missed that
-
Only in Allentown does an anchor have to do a 4-hour morning show solo for 5 days. Eve has been off since last Wednesday and Jaciel has gone solo from 5-9AM!
