  1. And Jerry Barmash says yet more news is starting to flow into him about WPIX... He is awaiting confirmation.... I really hope Mark Effron is out! Sure, they got new graphics, but this still does not fix the problem. They need a new ND.

  2.

WHOA! Huge changes at WPIX, reported by Jerry Barmash's "Tuned In:"

    -Julie Grauert out

    -Lionel out

-Dr. Steve "chose not to renew his contract"

Wow...This is big news. With Lionel out, that is great, I find him very irritating to listen to. As for Julie Grauert and Dr. Steve, I liked them A LOT and it's a bad choice to get rid of them IMHO.
  3. I just figured I'd check PIX 11 Jobs, and there's an open spot for an anchor/reporter and the date posted was April 11th of this year. It says in our "single anchor format". Was the description written a while ago? I'm just not sure what they're implying by that. I guess they're either looking for an anchor to replace Dan (if he ever leaves) or a new anchor to do the 11am and weekend morning newscasts (if that ever happens).

  4. Boy, social media as well as Tamsen Fadal's twitter page is full of viewers saying that they saw her texting on air. Jerry Barmash from Tuned In even posted a pic to prove it. Not that I thought this wouldn't happen. I remember during the old format, after the first break, they showed Tamsen walking away from the green screen texting away.

Here's the video, skip to 0:12. (credit to Mike Audsley)

And here's the pic from yesterday's 10pm news of her tweeting: http://t.co/japHPZJymv

Anyone else notice they play music in the morning while coming back from break now? Real songs like Channel 5 and 11 do

Yeah I've noticed that also. I like that a lot. I remember once waking up and they played "somebody like you" while showing the sunrise. Sometimes in the morning, you would rather just listen to a nice song than annoying news bumpers (not that they're annoying, just when you first wake up they can be).
  6.

Based on Twitter, Alex will not be returning as traffic reporter but In another capacity at CBS 2.

I just checked her twitter and I see what you're talking about. That's a shame, I thought Alex was a great traffic reporter. Whatever they do, I really hope they don't plan on having her be a fill-in as a hard news anchor. I like her a lot but not as a news anchor. But I think Jill had better chemistry with the crew than Alex did. It's too bad Katie McGee left, she was my favorite traffic reporter. On a side note, how are the ratings for CBS 2 News This Morning? I wonder if they have gotten better with the addition of Jill.

Looking at Scott Stanford's twitter he's on vacation this week. I hope to god they give Tamsen a coanchor this week. It's so hard to watch with only one person and Mr.G creeping on her the whole time doesn't help

uggh, Tamsen's solo again at 5pm tonight...Not even on for 2 minutes and the teleprompter already froze and Tamsen's confused. Originally I was against the idea, but now It's at the point where they really need to just shut down completely and get a new ND and revamp their news operation.

I'm sorry to ask this but I don't really watch PIX11 all that much, but can someone enlighten me as to why nobody likes or much cares for Mr. G? I'm just curious that's all.

I'll be glad to tell you. First off, you can tell that he creeps Tamsen out. To put it simply, he's a pervert. And not only that, he can't do the weather. He just mumbles the forecast, covers up the maps so nobody can see them, and doesn't even refer to the maps that are behind him. Personally, he didn't bother me when Jim and Kaity were there, but now he's just annoying and creepy.

Noticed the the WCBS anchors and reporters have changed ends of their twitter handles from WCBSWLNY to TV.

The change took place a long time ago, around late January. Here's my post from then:

WCBS changed their twitter handles. I guess they got the message that "LastnameWCBSWLNY" was too long. It's now "LastNametv". Much shorter. However, if they wanted to change their handles, they should of still identified the station it it. I would of done something like "Gainer2" or "Gainer21055" or even "GainerCBSNY" or "GainerCBS". I know they want to identify both stations, but it's better than "WCBSWLNY".

  10.

Jerry Barmash reports Julie Grauert (morning traffic) did not have her contract renewed.

Wow, I actually liked her. Once again, WPIX gets rid of all the wrong people. Amazing how many people have been let go and Suki's still there. If Julie goes, then I guess Kristina Behr would be next in line for traffic? I don't know, but getting rid of Julie Grauert is taking a step back IMO.

Curious about something does anybody know why Today in NY, the noon, 5 & 11 PM shows no longer have the same opens as the 6 & 7 PM shows. And what I mean is the 6 and 7 PM shows have the "Live from studio 3C in Rockefeller Center this is News 4 NY" while Today in NY, the noon, 5 & 11 PM shows just have the anchors announcing what's coming up a bit of music playing and saying "News 4 NY at 5 starts right now" blah blah blah.

They probably just want to get right to the news and probably thinks people can care less about the station and just wants to know what's happening. I assume since they do play the full theme during the 6PM show, maybe they figured viewers already had their news at 5 and can now do a proper, full open? just a thought.
  12.

That's interesting, I am surprised that in market #1 they would solo anchor a weekday newscast at 6pm. Usually I see that at 11 (or 10 if it's CT) in places like Detroit and Chicago where I spend the most time and see the most news. They usually carry over the anchors from previous newscasts like 5pm. WXYZ still runs a 7pm newscast so the sub may carry over to 6 and 7 and then have a solo 11pm show. Although with Dave Manney from WNBC at the helm now that has ceased and an anchor may do 5, 530, 6, 7 and 11.

very good point... the trend here in NY is to have a solo anchor at 6pm. It's been that way for a few years now. Dana Tyler is a solo anchor at WCBS, Steve Lacey at WNYW, and formally Chuck Scarborough at WNBC, now with Sibila Vargas. So when you do the math, 2 out of 4 stations here in NY do solo anchoring at 6pm. Soloing at 11pm is pretty rare, although I've seen it at WCBS, WNBC, and occasionally WABC. One thing though in my book that is a no-no is soloing at 5pm. The only station I've ever seen do that is WPIX, with kaity soloing when Tamsen and Scott are off, usually during holidays. But the bottom line is that soloing at 6pm is not that rare and surprising, at least here in NY. I kind of like it.
  13. Did eyewitness news get rid of their livestream? I noticed there's a message that says "We are sorry, but the URL you requested could not be found. The page you are looking for may have been renamed, moved, or deleted." IDK, but I hope not, I rely on livestreams to get my news!
