    Together

yup, you're right. I just saw a facebook post by Narmeen saying that they will be anchoring together. I'm glad someone at PIX has the brains to give these two some exposure. They could serve as valuable fill-in anchors in the future.
  2. Something to ponder about the WPIX 5 and 10pm newscast: it is the only newscast that I have seen where the female anchor is on the left side, Once you realize it, it seems weird

I agree, that's something I always did find odd...I don't watch T.I.N.Y. so besides WPIX, I've never seen it on any other station.
  3.

They've had a lot of anchors off last week continuing to atleast today..

This morning: Rob Nelson and Michelle filled in

    At Noon: Michelle was solo

At 4: David with Sandra Bookman

At 5: Sade with Rob Nelson

Guess we'll see who does the 6 for Liz and 11 if Bill is still off but I'm not sure.

One thing about WABC is that you never know who will be subbing when one anchor is off! They are really the only station in NY that really utilizes all of their talent.
  4.

The big difference is that WLNY didn't have a tradition of excellence, especially at 7 a.m.

EXACTLY. Also, you have to consider that WLNY is a secondary product to WCBS, which, although ratings are low, their morning show isn't bad. WPIX is the only product that is produced by Tribune, and their morning show is horrendous. What needs to be fixed is the content. Although it has improved since the Frances and Suki era (no more sex crap), they are still doing stupid segments like exercising with a look-alike Obama at 6:45 AM (which I know one member on this board already mentioned) when they should be doing hard news. As much as breaking news coverage is bad, I'd like to see how Suki & Kori would handle it if something big and urgent were to happen. That is really the game-changer, if they are a team that one can trust to get urgent information from. And from what I've seen, they are (especially Chambers). As much as myself and others "bully" Suki, I think she can be a good anchor/reporter when it comes to breaking news. I've seen tapes of her from 9/11 and she can be a serious anchor when it comes to that point.

On another note, as much as I've been optimistic with Tamsen, I can't stand how she smiles when reading stories of shootings and other crimes. Scott has a similar problem, speaking in "sports language" (if you know what I mean) when reading these serious reports. I'm glad he's going back to just sports, that's his world. As for Tamsen, I'd like to see her go back to the mornings, but you know that won't happen. Now, maybe it's just me, but I almost wish Jodi Applegate never left. Her and another anchor (like Larry Mentde or Muller) would of made a great team in my opinion.

  5.

Whoa...Scott just said he's moving over to Studio 3C for the Pix11 sports desk! Could this be a sign of WPIX moving its studios? Now I'm dying to see what this looks like!

Never mind... They're broadcasting from where they usually broadcast. Everything's the same and the voice-over still says studio 2A. I don't know why he said 3C. Ironically, studio 3C is the studio that WNBC broadcasts from (in Rockefeller Plaza).

Also, it appears sports reporter Dyrol Joyner is back on air tonight doing a report covering Belmont. I haven't seen him since March. I remember they had him doing in-studio sports segments during the weekend shows for a while.

  6. This probably was expected, but I just saw a promo that PIX just aired regarding how Dunkin' Donuts gets you through the morning, and that you should let PIX know your story. And Marysol Castro was definitely in it. But then again, I remember one poster on this board said that he saw a promo that aired during a Mets game a few days ago advertising Suki and, yes, Frances!

  7. What I don't understand is why pix dumped marysol in the first place. After all, they easily could have just demoted her, not fired her. Another thought, why do they think no one watches pix from 4-6am because of the talent? Who's up at 4am anyways? I bet if Dan and marysol took the 6-9am, people would have discovered how much better they are together than suki and kori.

  8.

Why don't they dump Suki & Kori instead and have Marysol and Dan anchor the new so called 5 - 9am show? I'd rather watch them instead of Suki & Kori.

This is it. The station really needs a relaunch. Take 2 months, and try to rebuild a respectable news organization for god sakes. Marysol and Dan are respected journalists, and we only got to know them for how long? Mark Effron is THE WORST ND EVER, and Carey is.....Oh I don't even know, I'm so frustrated with PIX right now. I have no ND experience, but I can put out a better product than them in seconds. Seriously, I don't know how news in the #1 market can get this bad. Ok let me try to get my bearings together after this...

The talent changes weekly and everyone keeps leaving except the god also known by the name of "Suki".....UGGHH :( :rofl!: :bang:

  9. I wouldn't rely on that. Ever since PIX has changed to the new tribune website, the bio page is kind of non-existent. None of the talent have a bio up. Is there a page that says "news team" or something that I don't know about? But It's wierd that Jerry Barmash doesn't know about this and the only source we have is Suki's words.
  10.

Maybe Suki and kori are getting the whole show? I hope not! Or maybe just maybe Suki is leaving?

If Suki's leaving, I hope they bring back Lynne White! But if Dan & Marysol are in fact leaving, the first option is probably more likely, or they may just get a whole new team assembled all together. Another person I'd like to see in an expanded role is Kirstin Cole. She comes off as more of an anchor than a reporter.
  11.

From watching the video it seems like Dan and Marysol were tossing to Suki & Kori for the 6 am show; meanwhile Marysol was saying goodbye nice knowing you probably because he won the design contest thing and probably thinks he wants to leave to be a designer or whatever idk that's how i'm understanding it.

Oh that wasn't the part I was talking about...I believe it was at 10:06 in the video, and the actual time was 8:57. It includes all of the PIX members sitting on the couch.
  12. Just clarifying...This is just Suki talking and saying "thank you" to Dan and Marysol right? I hope they aren't leaving! After all, reports said that Dan is leaving, could this mean that the team is being dissolved all together? I don't really interpret this like they're leaving, I just wanted to clarify and make sure. Harry is John Chandlers fill in and also does general assignment reporting...And I don't see Bruce Beck leaving wnbc any time soon...Also does it look like they are getting a new set anytime in the near future?...

I'm sure they'll get a new set sometime, but not in the "foreseeable" future. I think PIX or WNYW will be the next to get a new set. PIX will probabally be first. According to the article back in September, they should be done already, but based on what we've seen, that's not happening. And there's no confirmed report of WNYW getting a new set either, but they just need one.
  14.

The next move for Scott will be to return to WNBC as lead sports anchor when Bruce Beck eventually goes to

NBC Sports full time (and it will be a shame to see Bruce eventually go but he's a supreme talent.)

Why would Scott go back to WNBC? PIX needs him much more desperately than WNBC does. Besides, WNBC has John Chandler and Harry Cicma to work with. PIX has no one besides Scott, unless Andy Adler moves to nights which I don't see happening.
  15. Wow this is WONDERFUL news. I was just thinking about how sad i was when John muller left. Now how about bringing back Kaity to weekdays or even bringing back Jackie hyland? Scott is a sports anchor not a news anchor. He'll serve as a great fill in though like wabc does with rob powers. Next step- get a new set and fix the morning teams (drop suki)!

"Add pop and pizzazz to Reporters' scripts"

What a joke. And we thought they were heading back in the right direction. :rofl!:

PIX better make up its mind sooner or later. Like "BehindNYNews" said in an earlier post somewhere, they have to decide if they're Pix11 News or Pix11 Entertainment. They can't be both. How about airing hard news at 5pm and an entertainment show from PIX at 6pm? Or even at 7pm to compete with "Entertainment Tonight" and "Extra". This way they can sort out the stories they want to air.

hope this will work and yes I like Scott by himself rather than with tamsen i also think kaity tong Scott team would work great

I hope they start branching away from solo anchoring when one member of a team is off (especially during the evening.) I remember pre-2010, when Kaity was off, even reporters like Monica Morales would fill in. Also I believe Jackie Hyland or Mary Murphy would also occasionally sit in. I've also seen Allison Kaden anchor before, and she's not bad. Even Jay Dow could sit in with Tamsen if Scott is off.
  18. In other news, the Arsenio Hall show has been cancelled after 1 season. I'm happy, this likely means more Seinfeld reruns! If I want to tune in to a late night show, I'd take Letterman, Fallon, and Craig Ferguson, not Arsenio. I wonder if this will affect WPIX's ratings.

  19.

Maurice DuBois is anchoring the 5pm solo

Wow, that's interesting! The only station that I've ever seen do that is WPIX, but that's not a big deal. But I've never seen any network station in New York have an anchor solo during the 5pm newscast. I guess Kristine was off, Alice Gainer or Dana Tyler was not available, and they didn't want to have a two men format (with Dick Brennan)? They should of had one of the reporters assume the role, like Diane or Andrea, and even Cindy Hsu would be great. That's a very surprising move for them. They don't even do this on the holidays. Even the 9pm on WLNY is rarely done solo if Alice and Dick are off.
