Thank god WCMH's website never became WeAre614OlentangyProud.com or some variation thereof.
WKBN:
WeAreValleyProud330Matters.com

And they’re getting a new logo. Which means say goodbye to this:

I hope to God it isn’t KGW’s logo.
The WFAA logo has aged damn well, so why does Tegna want to change it up?

I wonder where they got these transitions from...
KNIN is owned by Raycom but managed by Scripps’ KIVI.

They also changed the website URL to CBS17.com, instead of one of Nexstar's portal-style URLs.
Thank God! Otherwise, it would’ve been “TriangleProud.com” or “TriangleMatters.com”.

WNCN rebrands to CBS 17. I always thought that's what they should have been called after the affiliation swap with WRAL, not "CBS North Carolina". http://www.cbs17.com/news/cbs-north-carolina-rebrands-as-cbs-17/1048220823
Honestly, I want to read that logo as “17 WNCN” or “17 News”, but it beats “CBS North Carolina”.

At some point it makes you wonder what Scripps' end game is in the industry. All this "hip and cool stuff" combined with weird decisions and little recent investment in the on air look makes you wonder what's going on.

And the new facility is literally down the street from down the current Fayetteville studio in the Northwest Arkansas Mall.
When Hearst moved into the Rogers facility they tried continuing broadcasting from Fort Smith and Rogers (once they moved out of the Fayetteville space), but that did not last long. I figure Tribune will phase out newscasts from Fort Smith once the new facility is complete and staff can get moved to the area.
I'm surprised that with NW Arkansas being a split market, I'm surprised that no station has pulled a WSAZ and do two-city news.

Finally! A smart decision from WGCL has finally been made. Swann has been fired.

Even if I don't agree with Hyman's views, I still want to wish him the best recovery.

Say hello to either Gannett, Scripps, Sinclair, or even Fox handing Angley a Brinks truck of cash!

What about WJW use of Stephen Arnold's Fusion? Now that was a kick-ass theme.

#MeToo has now come for local news. I bet athletes are next.
Uh...
Back on topic, seeing as how coke and booze was common in newsrooms, I wouldn't be surprised if sexual situations accompanied it too.

Thanks for bringing that up! Newsy here in Gainesville is 276 (SD) and 1276 (HD)
I know your JK but I still watch cable. I have Cox Cable included here where I live. Don't have to pay a dime for it.
Where I live in have Spectrum TV and Internet included with my rent but the TV is directly connected with locals in ClearQAM and 50 analog cable channels.

Sh*t just got real between Spectrum and Viacom:

I've never seen them try to cut corners. I figured they would use the failing station waiver to acquire the station. I honestly would reject the case, although they might be accepted in the other waiver.
Interestingly, though, with the same interpretation - if rejected by the FCC - Sinclair would have to divest WGHP to keep its duopoly, or break up the WXLV/WMYV duopoly in separate directions, as there would only be 7 or 8 voices in the market.
Honestly, WGHP is definitely more valuable than WXLV/WMYV combined. It will depend on how comfortable they are with the status quo in the Triad and the same goes for St. Louis between KTVI/KPLR and KDNL.
Back to WXII. Ever since WCWG entered into an agreement with WXII, Hearst has been pouring much needed resources into WCWG. I'd say the FCC should give it a go just on those grounds alone.

It would be a worthy diginet to have on many stations.

Not really a local retransmission issue but Spectrum has moved ALL Viacom channels to Gold or Digi Tier 2.

As I understand ratings at 13 have tanked in a lot of dayparts since TEGNA assumed control—so they may have nothing to lose trying this.
A part of me hopes this isn’t the WTSP format, but the Next / KUSA format, which the promo feels more indicative of. That I’d watch.
So the new TEGNA edict is to have "unusual" 11pm newscasts? Okay then.
-
Seriously???
Have you seen the competition?
Yes. A Nexstar station.
If you're talking about a certain channel 6, yeah they're a lost cause.

Absolutely zero leeway. WJW has a lot of long-tenured staff and a lot of newscast output for a market this size. I expect an absolute bloodbath on day one because Sinclair.
Actually, a good analog would be how Cumulus Media ruined KGO 810 - but a lot of the factors that led to the death of KGO were probably unavoidable (demos that aged out of any relevance; a large and expensive payroll; Cumulus' desire to McRadio everything).
Personally, I expect newscast output to be on WBFF levels, but as far as staffing, it will make the infamous WCBS 1996 massacre look tame.

I wonder how much leeway WJW is going to get under Hunt Valley. It's not exactly in a Top 10 market, and it's in a "ethnic Democrat" market.

Corporate Mandate = Forced
Corporate Mandate = Every station has to do it whether it fits the market or not.
Seriously, it's a miracle that WJAR is STILL number one in Providence.

Don’t give WKYC any ideas on how to resurrect “Today In Cleveland”.
For those who don’t know, “Today In Cleveland” aired from 6:30-7am until about ‘96 or ‘97 when WKYC expanded its morning newscast to that’s timeslot and and was basically two old men talking for 30 minutes.
