Could be a shakeup at KTLA coming, with the first shoe obviously being Don Corsini's retirement, as mentioned in the LA forum. They are pleasantly surprised (thankfully) at WGN on the other hand.
A shakeup? I didn't think KTLA was doing THAT bad. Sure it's probably getting beat by KCAL, but last I checked, 5 was beating KTTV in most timeslots.

I'm just waking up to WKYC (3, Cleveland) having changed their logo. Looks like they went modern minimalist like 19. I still have to watch an actual newscast. I'm on raw footage right now.
There's actualy a forum for that:

The old 5 was a bit out of date, but the new logo looks so painfully generic it could be in a movie.
As Weeters would say: "It's a perfect logo for an app."

Looks like they're taking a page from WHAS whose morning show is also called "Wake Up." Though I'm perplexed by the "Central." Central because they're in central Arkansas? Central portion of the country (except not really)? I'll be curious to see if they use the WHAS Wake Up graphics (they had a special package made just for the morning show). Unfortunately, there isn't anything on youtube. That's unfortunate because WHAS put together an incredibly unique promo for the show that THV tried to mimic and did so VERY poorly.
I guess "Wake Up Central" as in, KTHV is central to waking up.
Question: Who is number one in the AMs in Little Rock?

The new logo is much better, moreso because the last one SUCKED!!!!!

I'd also be curious to see what the viewership figures around the city were. Many people I know here simply turned away from KXAS to any other station in town providing information. I'm sure NFL still dominated but it seems like most people were more interested in finding news about the storm than the football game.
It was 27-7 Cowboys by the time the tornado warnng came out, so I'd imagine a lot of people might've been turning away already. So a pox to KXAS for keeping with the game. Again, if KXAS went split-screen or moved it to 5.2, it would've been better what happened.
-
The question I have is if what the score was for the Cowboys-Eagles game around 9pm. If it was looking like a blowout (which it was), KXAS should've went to weather fully or at least attempted a split-screen on 5.1.

West Coast News: CBS Sacramento reporter Angel Cardenas just got himself on a NO-HIRE-LIST. FIRED from the CBS O&O for doing a lousy stunt at the Sacramento Auto Show. The segment was for Good Day Sacramento. Auto show producer called KMAX/KOVR GM and the reporter is now immediately removed from the station.
Sure enough today his profile has been removed from the station's website.. https://sacramento.cbslocal.com/station/cbs13-cw31/
Initial post reported by FTV: https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2019/10/22/cbs-oampo-fired-after-live-shot
That was just pure disrespect on the reporter's front. Glad he is gone.
As an aside, has CBS ever considered airing Good Day Sacramento on both KMAX AND KOVR?

Unless you're an Xfinity Customer (who seems to never have this issue, and simply jacks up a user's rate when a company wants more $$) blackouts are more and more common.
Speaking of Xfinity, get ready for Starz vs Comcast...

Doesn't KYUR and KTBY do minimal news at best?
If Nexstar wasn't maxed out, Coastal would be one of those companies that would be drastically improved by them a la Rockfleet or Morris.Accoding to Zap2It, KTBY only does a 9pm news (no surprise since they're Fox). However, KYUR only does a 10pm news, which I'm shocked by. One would think KYUR would do an early evening news at 5pm or 6pm.

The one time I expect an owner to "reassign" frequencies they don't. ABC and CW could easily move to KTBY's stick, or hell, KTBY could shut down with KYUR taking Fox. only thing probably stopping it is the equipment probably can't handle 3 HD streams on one stick and after seeing plenty of newscasts on KTBY, yeah no.

In the past, WKYC put out things that were WAY BETTER than what Gannett forced on them.
Now, a little corporate intervention might be nice...
Lunch Break with Jay Crawford: Because WKYC badly wanted to rip-off Sunny Side Up.

Double post.

I'll just say this: remember that the changes at WKYC are more WKYC's doing than Tegna. Just like how Raycom/Gray allowed WOIO to have autonomy from the other Graycom stations. Worst case scenario, WKYC can go back to Troika/C Clarity when the refresh package comes out.

It's a bastardized version of WOIO's Sunny Side Up, plain and simple.

Looks like Tegna and Spectrum are on the dispute board now.
Thank God I got an antenna on standby to watch WKYC, not that anything on there is worth watching anymore.

Try my grandparents. My grandpa is 73 and my grandma is 71 and they still have Dish Network. I would tell them the joys of streaming since TBN and SonLife both have apps on the Roku now, but that would confuse both of them. Hell, they still have a corded house phone on the damn wall.

The male anchor does not seem comfortable in the end of the video. As for the new look and logo, it looks rather blah. I think the folks at Dick Goddard Way are smiling right now.
More like the folks at E. 30th and at Reserve Square are smiling. WKYC seems to be trying a more female-focused newscast (as evidenced by a lot of the news promos and also the colors. IIRC, the last station in Cleveland to try to be more female-focused was WOIO's "Snoozefest 19" and boy that worked well.

I’m sorry but that weather bar is not great...lose it and the L3s are much better. Also, the opens are too ADHD. If they were as simple and calm as WCCO circa late 2000s, then I would forgive the graphics. Overall, decent intentions, meh execution.
Again, lose the damn weather bar! Even Sinclair pulls it off better than this!

It debuts Sunday at 11pm from what I hear - but here is a story from their website.
From the looks of those promos, it looks like they used their quota of stock video from iStock...and then some. Champaign bottles and shopping bags...something “marvelous” is coming. Ok, then
Well looks like Tegna is doing a custom graphics package for WKYC. It's actually not bad, tbh. Clean and simple.
