  1. Follow the link RKO provided for the free trial subscription....but they only give those to qualified bloggers, and it takes 3-5 years to process the request .
No I meant, how do you get a subscription to TVEyes?
  2. I know KTRK has been one of ABC's most struggling O&O's, and if this story gains any traction, they could be in for a bigger fight back to dominance...or even 1st place.

How many struggling O&Os does ABC have? And are the ABC O&Os starting to struggle too?

If you'd look into it more...you'd see it's because of how they've been treating their employees. Everyone is under a gag order...and they've been pushing to bust the unions at the union stations.
Sinclair's doing the same thing and FTVLive is barely reporting on that

FTVLive is regularly out in front of everyone I've found...and for free lol. I cancelled my N/B subscription and never looked back.
FTVLive isnt the first source I check, and how many connections does it have? At least newsblues gives information on each market and provides a brief statement as to what the news stories of the week are so I can copy them and paste them (even if they arent the first, but better right than first if you cant choose both)
  3. I noticed yesterday that first coast news got a new logo for its news operation, WTLV and WJXX themselves still have the same logos though.

I also noticed that Cars.com has a new TV segment that airs on the TEGNA stations' newscasts:

    https://www.cars.com/articles/carscom-on-tv-check-out-our-segments--1420685020587/

For some reason, KCEN/KAGS, KYTX, KBMT, KIII, KXVA, and KIDY arent listed along with a few other typos.

  4. He may be snarky, but I doubt he's "out for blood", otherwise you would see him constantly post false crap on his site just for the attention. FTVLive is much the same as Newsblues, they're there to talk/discuss/gossip about the industry. If you guys don't like it, or don't agree with the way he writes things or what he writes...don't read it.
I personally prefer newsblues over FTVLive. They even give the link to the current DMA rankings from nielsen.
  5. But without FTVLive, then who would've guessed that Sinclair would take WSJV's FOX and make it a part of its own? He was right on that front all along.
Do tabloids get stories nobody else would report on?

  6. He stirs up a lot of shit. A lot of the stories are just gossip or posting screw ups. He does break some industry news.
Hes basically the Jerry Springer of the mass media.
  7. I have issues with FTVLive because many news reporters have done more than FTVLive has ever done. They often say that they reported "FIRST" but they may not have reported accurately, and while I think being first isnt a bad thing in itself, I do take issue when they report first, but the information is incorrect. And what has FTVLive done to help the news media business?

  8. TEGNA if your seeing this ... KENS channel 5 desperately needs a new logo too...

    KENS needs a new...everything.
A lot of TEGNA stations need a bit of new stuff, mostly new logos, KENS, WFAA, and even 11Alive being only a few of many examples of stations still needing new logos. At least KXTV got a new logo, even though it isnt the best one out there.

  9. WWJ is not last in the market... Especially in Prime Time...
But NBC Boston might be if NBC doesn't solve their problem of a possibility of a lack of OTA coverage.

How about a better example... WOI, one of the weakest ABC affiliates.

Also MidwestTV, about what you said about a station being an affiliate of the #1 network but the least watched in their market, the inverse can also be true. WFAA, for example was the most watched station in DFW back in the early 2000s even though ABC was struggling at the time.

  10. A station could easily be an affiliate of the most watched network but be least watched in their market due to a variety of reasons, such as poor management, another station having a history of dominance, and etc.
Like WWJ and, if NBC doesn't do anything about the possible lack of OTA coverage of NBC Boston, WNEU, for example.

  11. Why? Most watched NETWORK has nothing to do with LOCAL NEWS...
In that case, it is because of shows and NFL games, but for news, especially local news, most people tune to other stations instead.
  12. If 'TKR was an O&O, They would have LMAD at 10 like 'JZ in neighboring Maryland and have Coast on at 9 after thisMORNING.
Speaking of O&Os, how is CBS the most watched network if most of their O&Os aren't #1 or even #2? Is it because people don't watch those O&Os for news, but rather for the shows and NFL games?

  13. But they could go to Home Depot and buy 3 new sticky letters...and change the name of the building...all for 67cents per letter.

    A

    B

    S

    C

    F

    O

    X

    C

    and....

    W

Just keep those letters in the toolbox pappy!

But theyd have to get a new font. And besides, I myself think that WFAA losing its ABC affiliation is unlikely, and WFAA wont become an ABC O&O (channel 7 and the circle 7 logo were already taken by KLTV for one thing), at least not anytime soon.

  14. There's absolutely no chance in hell WFAA will become ABC O&O; just remember, ABC/Disney is not looking to buy TV stations, and as far as I'm concerned TEGNA will renew the affiliation contract with ABC. No problems.
I figured that part. But in that case, TEGNA should add their ABC affiliates to the ABC all access livestream. I checked and WFAA (and other ABC affiliates owned by TEGNA I assume) isnt on there.

And I would think that the reason ABC hasnt bought any stations is because there isnt an opportunity for that to happen yet. Also, I never said WFAA would become an ABC O&O, just that it would switch to either NBC or CBS by either one of them selling their respective O&Os, but at this point, the chances of that happening are extremely slim. For one thing, NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 are both housed in the same building as well as DFW being one of the top #10 TV markets in the nation, and while you could say the same thing of CBS 11 and TXA 21, they could be sold off to ABC a lot easier. Thing is, CBS isnt that willing to part with said duopoly in part seeing as how the building housed there is called the CBS Tower, among a few other reasons (yet, as mentioned in another thread, like most CBS O&Os, CBS 11 isnt #1 or #2 in the ratings most of the time), not to mention its more likely for TXA 21 to become CW 21.

  15. I know this might sound stupid because its not likely to happen, but if for whatever reason, TEGNA decides not to renew its affiliation agreement with ABC in 2018 for most, or even any of its stations, how are they going to manage that? This would be especially problematic for WFAA with the other big 4 affiliates being O&Os of their respective networks, and the only way for affiliation switch to be possible would be for either NBC or CBS to sell their stations to ABC, which in itself is unlikely to happen (TXA 21 becoming a CW O&O is more likely to happen). And I wonder about TEGNA's other ABC affiliates if that happens. Like I said though, I think its an unlikely scenario.
