Slightly off topic, but all of TEGNA's ex-corporate relative newspapers have "deemphasized" that they are "A Gannett Company" on their websites and such, and instead are going with the tagline "Part of the USA Today Network".
Which also still have all the TEGNA stations listed.
Probably because USA Today still uses its now half-siblings (TEGNA stations) for some content, along with its full-siblings (Gannett's newspapers)

Much like WGRZ producing newscasts for WUTV/WNYOSinclair hasn't really created a news department from scratch on any of its stations since the News Central era (KDBC doesn't exactly count since Sinclair opted to beef up the existing resources, partly by hiring additional staff, used by KFOX for its revamped newscasts after the two were folded into the same complex). In fact, the company hasn't made good on his promise to move production of KPTM's newscasts back to Omaha, if that says anything.A news share agreement is more likely, though KRIS is out of the question, since it already produces newscasts for its CW Plus subchannel, leaving KIII as the only feasible option to produce KUQI's newscasts.
-
And Comet TV (though, my TV can't add KFWD to its channel list for some reason)Well I guess NRJ will add The Works subchannel for KFWD.
At some point, yesWill KUQI get new website?- 1

Her Twitter bio says she's in NYC now.
In Philly's big bro on ABC 7?

If anything they are seen as a seller....
More like that they won't sell any of their stations, and maybe they aren't a buyer right now, but what about a few years from now? In fact, that deserves its own thread in the speculatron
-
He would know quite well that such a plan wouldn't work well in practice...
A partial ownership stake might. It worked with Fox before it bought NW communications (and had the 2 NBC affiliates divested).

I'm beginning to think that outside of a few stations most of Scripps properties are too far gone to be saved by ABC... They would require billion(s) in investment across all 16 or whatever stations to bring them up to ABC standards. You'd have to completely scrap most of the personell, the graphics, the imaging, completely swap out all the computer equipment, they'd all need set upgrades, new cameras... Sound expensive times 16 yet?
It'd be like taking 2016 car innards and putting them in a 1985 Ford Taurus... You can do it but it'd be a hell of a project.
That's where a partial ownership stake in Scripps (no more than 20% just to be safe) comes in.

Forget that, Scripps should be donated to Goodwill Industries so the people there can rehab it and re-sell it for the good of all.
Scripps hires too many "Visionary's" in key management roles. These folks think they can make the ultimate digital platform staffed by only semi-brite, part-time college kids with no street smarts or journalistic chops.
"What do people on twitter think about the rain?"
"Here is a viewer(shaky, out of focus, wrong aspect ratio) flooded street in (can't pronounce the community name) Casa De Oro"........
Just as bad was the rudderless CW6 and the "This is a Sand Bag" segment.
"These sand bags are filled with ssssand".
They got rid of all the experienced people...and it really shows. The ND Tiffany Lupensky is a cabbage head. She can't help this shit cuz she is too busy scheduling part-timers, and trolling for facebook "likes".The very first thing to do is to get the Weather Pinata out of there, and use "BandCamp"(Megan Parry) instead. BandCamp is a bit green...but she is local and has a sweet personality that is kinda grows on you.
Which is why Scripps ought to be bought by ABC (who can then divest the non-ABC affiliates to any companies of their choice).

absolutely. About 15 of the first 20 minutes of the 7pm newscast was dedicated to weather coverage. I kid not. There were 2 commercials a bit less than two minutes each and then about a minute dedicated to a story on a stolen bike. Excessive puts it mildly.
Every other station had Storm coverage, but they didn't go crazy with special graphics/opens, etc.
The surprising thing is that Scripps allows this crap to continue. But I guess they're happy losing the ratings/demo race in SD.
And that's why I think ABC really should buy Scripps (except for the non-ABC stations which can be divested into other companies of their choice). It's not surprising... It's rampant in the company.WXYZ had "Happy" blaring over a pre recorded package on gun control (!) for 50 seconds on their 7pm tonight. This stuff didn't use to happen but technical goofs are their bread and butter now... Some folks there blame the automation system but that's an excuse... It's only as good as the Person telling it what to do...

Now that it's January, when are the LSB stations going to get the updated websites?

Their old one used a light house too just to be clear...
Yeah, and so did the one from their first standardized graphics
-
For us locals who didnt see it, did she mention which one? Just curious as Susan Taylor (formerly of KNSD for those living outside of SD) works for Scripps Health. (Started by the same family as Scripps Howard Broadcasting but NOT affiliated with the health system)
Isn't Scripps health with the Scripps company and works with them for content?
-
Reminds me of this:
I think that because both are searchlights, Scripps may have been inspired by Castle Rock for its new slate.

And "The Crips" and "The Hoodz".There is that gang called "The Scripps"...they fight "The Bloods".
ABC 10 San Diego is a better name than both of those.Still a better name than "Denver 7."- 1

You couod probably blame the out-of-town corporate execs for that.
But they have the NBC tower in Chicago. Not to mention they also have Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med, and if they keep it up, Law and Order: Chicago all there too
-
It would've at least made more sense if WMAQ used the saying "Chicagoland Rising" rather than "Chi-Town Rising"Chi-Town Rising was as bad as you thought it would be. They waited until 30 seconds after midnight to count down the new year. And Mario Lopez? Seriously? Nothing says Chicago like having Slater host your local NYE celebration. And I've never met a local that uses the saying "Chi-town".You're better off watching Janet Davies and Mark Giangreco embarrass themselves on ABC 7 every New Year's Eve.

What a dumpster fire that station is. This is starting to look like WCBS back in the early 2000s.
Is it complete with one of WSVN's former NDs?

One word, money. Sinclair offered the most promising offer to Albittron.
And them buying Albittron and Fisher effectively made them the 2nd largest group of ABC affiliates as they have affiliates in larger markets (DC, Seattle, St. Louis, and Portland OR). What next? Sinclair influencing ABC news into leaning more towards the right wing?

-
Even so, why did Albittron want to sell its stations to Sinclair?
-
For some reason, I somehow think that Disney should've bought all or most of Albittron instead of Sinclair. They were all ABC affiliates anyway.
-
More young 'PVI talent moving on to bigger platforms within the ABC News family...First Shirleen, then Kenneth, now Eva.
WPVI is indeed a powerhouse station.
WABC & WPVI are the best news stations in the country.
As are ABC O&Os in general and Hearst's stations (including its ABC affiliates).
-
That's going to happen eventually. More people already watch KCRA 3 for local news in that market than either KOVR 13, KXTV 10 or KTXL 40. With the new 4:00pm newscast, this will just pit the icing on the cake for KCRA 3.
Like they do with WBAL, WISN, and WCVB
-
Look at how WFXR in Roanoke went after they started their own news department. That should answer your question.
Same with KWKT

WOWK has added the Nexstar close to end of newscasts. Since Nexstar is running the 4 WV Media Stations under a time brokerage agreement until FCC gives the blessing.
Don't time brokerage agreements assure that they're going to own the stations?

It has more of an interest in its Fox affiliates (including KCPQ and KTVI, despite the latter no longer having a football team) and larger markets (besides WJW) than stations like WGNO. In fact, I'm not even sure WGNO deserves to keep the call letters based on a lack of viewership and poor ratings
