Or if they make it a semi-satellite of KABB.I don't think anybody mentioned that Sinclair has a deal in place to buy KUQI in Corpus Christi for $9.25M. That's a reasonable price. It will be interesting to see if they're planning on keeping it a stand-alone operation or if they're planning on partnering with KIII/Tegna on a shared services or if they hub it out to the point where the only things to find locally is a small sales office and a transmitter.

I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread, but I've noticed that Nexstar often intends to finance its acquisitions of stations or companies with cash generated from operations and borrowings under its senior credit facilities and they think that "x market is a natural compliment to our (insert region here) of the United States", not to mention they also say they "intend to build on their rich tradition of localized content and programming and community involvement".
-
One would think that Nexstar was interested in CBS, too. I wonder how much of a premium Heartland is paying CBS for the privilege. Gotta think that Nexstar will get rid of one of their channels in the auction.
And speaking of which, isn't KRON 4 going to be auctioned off?

When will Tegna fully acquire KGW, WHAS, and KMSB? I checked both KGW and WHAS's websites and neither have the "A Tegna Company" byline meaning that Tegna still hasn't fully acquired any of those three stations.

Don't be surprised that the terrible ratings of The Meredith Vieira Show will make stations start airing more local newscasts. WPBF 25 (WCVB 5's sister station in Palm Beach) has already done so by adding a 9:00 a.m. hour-long weekday newscast weeks ago while pushing Meredith to 1:05 a.m. and now, it looks like WCVB 5 is doing the same.
I wonder if the NBC O&Os will do the same.

Do you think traditional newscasts are going to stick around in the next decade or so seeing as how concepts like NewsFix suck?I don't get it. I have tried to watch KDAF's version, and it is just a mess, completely unwatchable. And yet the concept expands to other markets? >ugh< -
I think there's an EXTREME likelihood that somebody would mention if it ended. Also, while asking questions is one thing, repeatedly posing the same question(s) to the same individual(s) every few hours is where some might begin to be annoyed.
Good point

Yes, you can #countonit. For the record, I am not a kid. I am an adult. Just look at my profile. It has my birthday and everything. I just get really curious about things like the nbc10 strike, that's why I ask questions like I do. Sorry if I am annoying any of you. yo
I love kids (though, I know you're an adult from looking at your profile) and no you're not annoying, and I understand your curiosity about the NBC 10 strike. I was wondering if they were still on strike or not myself.

It doesn't really make sense for a company to own a standalone independent (who lags in revenue behind the top 4) unless it's part of duopoly.
KTXD would've been a part of a duopoly if they hadn't been exempted, except, why were KTXD and KCEB exempted?
Also, I was looking at WSFL's website, and it seems that NewsFix is expanding to SFL.

Is WNBC a pain in the ass to WCAU and WVIT in a similar or even the same way?KNSD could care less if KNBC payed attention to them. KNBC is one big pain in the ass. When the news crews from KNBC come to town they clog the toilets at the station. They always want video and free tickets to the zoo and Seaworld. If KNSD calls and ask for any favors they say "we are too busy right now Kim Kardashian just sat on her baby".KNSD don't need anything from KNBC. Way back when it was KCST-39 KNBC was still one giant pain in the ass to old channel 39. Borrowing a sat truck is like pulling teeth as is just about any assistance in resources.
I feel sorry for them too. At least KOVR and KPIX have better synergy with each other than KNBC and KNSD do. And by the way, why doesn't NBC renovate KNSD's equipment and recycle their old equipment? Or will that come with KNSD's movement?Well, I guess KNSD won't have any more plugged toilets when they get their new building... I'm surprised that Staab/NBC haven't forced more of a cooperation/synergy betweens at the O&O's, it sure would save them some travel expenses if they relied more on each other. To each their own, I suppose. Then again, i'm not sure that any other NBC O&O coming in town would want to use KNSD's crappy equipment. Feel bad for the folks at KNSD. -
They're running on a skeleton staff with few photographers and replacement technicians in the control room that aren't used to their setup. It's gonna show on air.
Another reason why CBS 3 has the last laugh nowadays.

Why doesn't Cox, Graham, or even Raycom buy KUSI? Also, KNSD seems to be NBCUniversal's red headed stepchild despite being close to KNBC (since San Diego is geographically LA's neighbor).

*6pm on September 30th.
All Tegna stations appear to be affected, including the ex-Belo and ex-London stations.
WUSA is running crawls every hour stating as much.

That'd be a particular debacle for 84% of Texas if an agreement isn't reached before 6pm in a few days.

Or anyone else who's been paying attention to Scripps and its stations for long enough.Because Scripps is obsessive about how their stations look and want to get the former Journal stations onto something that doesn't suck ASAP. All they're waiting on is the VizRT graphics, then it's a matter of throwing some logo files into the existing RenderOn templates. And like I said before, the only people who won't know these aren't brand new graphics are people who use this forum or work for Scripps. -
When is NMSA going to expand its archive on news music to news radio stations?
-
I'm noticing that Nexstar is starting to implement the "Local (Channel Number)" mandate.
And interestingly, it's at the same time Graham is dropping the "Local (Channel #)" mandate on its stations.

In the next few months.
All at once, or gradually?

I was blown away when I was listening to WCBS AM on the CBS Local app and I discovered that the station has First News by Non-Stop Music. I didn't know that it was commissioned for radio, I thought it was just for TV based on the SouthernMedia News Music Archive's lack of info on radio stations.

As will all other Tribune stations, including KDAF, unless they manage to come to an agreement before the expiration date. Same goes with Media General.Tribune's in a dispute with AT&T, and WGN will be dropped when their agreement ends at the end of the month.http://seekingalpha.com/news/2796526-at-and-t-facing-blackout-talks-with-tribune-media-general

And I'd say that I wouldn't be surprised that Fox News or even many of the execs at Sinclair would say that people were playing the political correctness card on WGN seeing as how those two (Fox News and Sinclair, especially the former) are known to be willfully ignorant about some things (including the Star of David's importance in WWII).

I did, and it hasn't, or if it has, it wasn't very clear to me.Might I kindly suggest that you please read the last few pages in this thread, as said question has already been asked before. -
When are the stations from Journal going to get the Scripps graphics?

Looks like they went with Evolution for their news music and Charlie Van Dyke for their VO. That's a big relaunch for them.
I think WFAA should also get Charlie Van Dyke as their VO.

Has Scripps kept theirs after splitting? And speaking of the Pope being in DC, you know who will be covering this the most? The big four networks (particularly CBS, NBC, and Fox since they own stations in or around the DC area), Gannett (via USA Today), TEGNA (which has a free DC bureau from WUSA), and Sinclair (WJLA, NewsChannel 8, and WBFF all being around the DC area).Well just like Gray, Media General has now opened a new Washington bureau, just in time for the Pope's arrival to DC today.
