KGW had this problem predating the split by about 6 months (and this was when KGW was owned by Sander Media and operated by Gannett, later TEGNA, via an SSA), complete with a possibility of KGW's airwaves being sold off to the FCC's incentive auction. It seems that according to those articles, it's more company-wide than we previously though, and we would expect Sinclair or maybe Nexstar to do that. Not TEGNA of all station groupsYesterday FTVLive reported on the pettiness of TEGNA management about their union employees. Union employees will not be reimbursed for parking fees at the new KING 5 studio nor are they able to access an employee discount program for major purchases. Today the story got picked up by Gawker bringing the issue to a larger audience. -
At this point, here are the stations that haven't updated their websites yet in order of market size (excluding KMSB): 11Alive, KHOU, WTSP, NWCN (not sure if it'll get an update, but it probably will), KING 5, KENS, WWL, WLTX, WMAZ, and all of the LSB stations.
UPDATE: All of TEGNA's stations, except for the LSB stations (they should really have them updated by May, rather than July), have updated their websites.

They kinda did (albeit the typeface is different).
So, they didn't have a helicopter of their own?

Last Feb/2015 an article after the Jan 2015 switch WISH-TV was still holding on to #2.
http://www.ibj.com/articles/51728-wish-holds-ground-in-local-tv-news-battle
What about the most recent sweeps period (November 2015)?
-
Sorry to double post, but WISH going from CBS to CW really did affect them. No affect to WTHR because they are still #1:
http://www.ibj.com/articles/57204-cbs-shift-in-2015-rejiggers-tv-ratings?utm_source=this-week-in-ibj
Have they been #4 since then?

Probably Sinclair or Nexstar.
Or both

In that case, it doesn't work on those other markets I just mentioned eitherDon't say it works in Miami because for sure I don't watch it. There's no competition against the gorilla WSVN 7 during the 10:00pm timeslot. As many as 250-300K people (to my knowledge of the last ratings period done about Miami) regularly watch their 10:00pm newscast.- 1

It doesn't really work well here in DFW either because it too is too serious of a market (not as much as DC, but still). It might work better in Miami than it would in DC, DFW, or even Houston in that matter.NewsFix wouldn't work in the District. It's too serious of a market for that.
Yet they had a news share for KRCW with KGW, but that's pretty much it. And why don't they go back to traditional newscasts similar to what WGN, PIX11, and KTLA have?I think Tribune knows this. IIRC they were planning on doing news in the early 2000s but the 9/11-related economic slowdown killed that and planned launches at WATL and then-WEWB.It is long, long, LONG overdue to launch though. I'm amazed that Tribune never entered a news share with anyone for that long, the market for a second 10:00 newscast in that market has been there for a long time.

I'd like Nexstar to buy the low powered stations along with WABG, and Raycom or Gray buying WXVT.I'd actually like to see Raycom or Gray buy one of the stations in that group. At this point I think the main discussion should be the amount of money that would have to be spent to get any of those stations up to modern standards. One visit to their group website and it gives you instant heartburn more less watching a television news broadcast. Also, WDCW could launch a second 10 PM newscast in DC that will come from WTVR:
Or more accurately: http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/wdcw-50-psip-in-washington-dc-considering-a-10-pm-newscast.357550/

WFOR and WGEN are probably the two stations in Miami that NOBODY watches in their respective languages.
Unless its football season or the Super Bowl for WFOR. Nobody watches WGEN regardless if it is football season or not.
-
Looks like Cox subscribers in Vegas will get to watch the Super Bowl after all:

I wonder who pressured the two sides to make a deal? CBS? The NFL? Nevada Sen. Harry Reid?
Maybe the FCC? Or Nexstar?

The number 1 reason most tv news people leave the business with more then 5-10 years experience is...
They were "sick of being treated like shit."
Especially those in Sinclair's or Nexstar's stations

I mentioned this in the thread talking about Nexstar getting Media General but, Cox opposes Nexstar buying Media General for some of the same reasons we do, like the potential price rigging to jack it up for example: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/currency/cox-plans-oppose-nexstar-media-general/147347
Here's the URL for anybody wanting to warn the FCC to block the Nexstar-Media General merger: https://www.fcc.gov/about/contact

Its used during news and promos. 3 CBS O&Os are doing it at the moment:
WBBM, KOVR and KPIX.
Are any more CBS O&Os doing it besides those 3?

But in the speculation... Not General TV...
I already created it in the speculatron. Check it out over there

If you want to talk about this again then go to the speculation and give it a whirl...
It deserves its own thread, so I might as well create it

(Psst, you brought it up, this time.)
Everyone's been thinking that ABC is a seller, but I don't think any of its stations are for sale, or if any one (and only one) station is for sale, it'd be WTVD to Hearst, but besides that, if any, none of the stations are for sale.
-
Why does everyone think ABC will sell its stations?
- 1
-
WABC, KABC, WLS, WPVI, KGO, KTRK, WTVD, KFSN.
Which one are you forgetting, or which one did they sell in the last 20 minutes?
If ABC is going to sell anything, it'd be WTVD to Hearst, considering how strong their relationship is, but only that station.

I've noticed that the LSB stations still haven't updated their sites and it's late into January. When are they going to update them?
-
But what if they decide to go back to 5? Would it be "Live at 4 at 5"?
The Dyslectic may get confused thus violating provisions of the ADA.
They haven't changed the "LIVE at 5" branding since they went to 4 and I don't think they'll go back to 5 anytime soon, which is why I think it should rebrand as "LIVE at 4"
-
They have used that name "LIVE at 5:00 at 4:00" since the program was moved to the 4:00pm timeslot in 2008.
Then shouldn't they say "LIVE at 4" instead?
-
For some reason, WBIR either decided to bring back the first standardized graphics from before the split fro their live at 5 newscasts, or they may have kept them, but only for those newscasts

Remember those Scripps folks are much smarter than us.
(thunk)
Not really. And that's why I don't have a lot of respect for Scripps, if any.

Besides that, Scripps was already losing money even before cheapening the stations.
