  1. Anything's possible. I just don't think with current management they wil demote Tamsen to replace her with Kaity. Age and sex appeal unfortunately are more important qualities than experience nowadays.
To the point where you can search "Fox News hot" on YouTube and you'd be surprised at how many views many of those videos get

  2. Looks like all of the Tegna stations will use an updated platform on it's website.

(It looks the same as the previous website, but there are many changes on it's "experimental" website. Such as the new interface for media player, updated website hover, etc.)

    Take a look at : http://www.kgw.com/

WBIR has the updated platform too: http://www.wbir.com/

And I'm pretty sure that the LSB stations will get that updated layout when they update their sites next month

  3. Looks like the L3's are getting a minor tweak now by adding the respective color scheme to the right side.

That's been gradually phased in over the last several months.
And as of this point, I noticed that these are the stations that have the added color scheme on the L3's and I organized the following by order of market size (excluding KMSB and KTTU): 11Alive, KHOU, KPNX, KING, KARE 11, KUSA (obviously since it was the first to have 'em), WKYC, KXTV, KGW, WZZM, WVEC, WFMY, First Coast News (WTLV and WJXX), WHAS, WWL, WGRZ, WBIR, KREM, WLTX, KTVB (basically, all the King stations and presumably NWCN), WMAZ, KXVA, and KIDY.

Any station that wasn't listed are the ones that I noticed whose L3's don't have the added color scheme.

UPDATE: WFAA now has the added color scheme as well

  4. So what they recently did in Roanoke, they're going to do it in Huntsville.

B&C just posted today that Nexstar is going to start in-house news ops for WZDX with an expansion of its 9pm news to a full hour.

It will spend over $3M to update its facilities, reporting capabilities & hire 20 positions for this news expansion.

The new in-house newscast on WZDX will debut on April 4, 2016.

The same goes with Waco, or more specifically, KWKT and KYLE-TV

  5. One of the most-watched, most-respected, most-honored and most beloved PBS stations in the country. IMO, nobody does it better than WGBH.
If I was in Boston, I'd watch WGBH more than any of the affiliates of the private broadcasting networks not to mention that WGBH radio is as beloved as its TV sister. And speaking of PBS, it's the network that's the least affected by the M&A craze by far as well as the network that has the most diverse station owners
  6. Maybe slip in a WGBH NBC deal as a rider???
And possibly the Nexstar/Media General deal if it goes through???

By the way, WGBH is a PBS member station, not an NBC affiliate

  7. Well remember that JSA Attribution Rule that the FCC passed last year, and stations were giving two years to come into compliance?

Well the B&C stated this morning, that there's a rider in the new budget bill that would grandfather existing JSAs. Should this deal passed, stations who had JSAs from March 31st of last year wouldn't have to unwind their JSAs for the next TEN YEARS!!!!

I'm okay with grandfathering existing JSAs (such as the JSA with KTTU) as long as there aren't any new ones.

  8. Look who's back in the HLLY market.

    Al Gnoza.

For those who forget, last year, while at cross-street rival ABC27, Al said during a report of Three Mile Island (Remember March 1979 anyone) and Al said, "If you hear sirens, we are all gonna die". That got him fired from the number 2 station in the HLLY.

For some reason, people got upset. They revolted. They were upset. Now he's at cbs21.

Yet another reason why Sinclair is the dump of the Earth.

    What about Nexstar?

  9. That is a great logo. Miles better than the last.

The narrow logo and bars in the background got really grating to me, so I'm glad this change happened. This font looks way better suited for the network's politics coverage than the last; but other than "it really didn't age well" and "it got more stale", I don't have a good explanation for that (maybe that's it). And the simple look and that star piece in the middle looks awesome. Great job to the graphics department.

Even the font colors they use represent the Republicans and Democrats

  10. DAMMIT!

He was one of my favorites, especially during his tenure as occasional weekend morning anchor. He really deserved an promotion to that slot. And he also could've done very well beside Erica von Tiehl in the mornings.

CBS3 screwed it up again. Now I'm never watching them again, especially in the weekends.

The only CBS O&O worse than KYW as of recently is WBBM and they both suck.
  11. If Al-SA-TX is still hovering around these parts, he might know something since he's down there with the Fox duop in Abeline/San Angelo. Last I heard, they were going to be under Worldnow until at least January 2016.

Also, while I'm here: KREM2 Spokane FINALLY updated their weather graphics to match the rest of their newscast on Sunday. I say finally, because...the station switched to the G3 graphics LAST YEAR...

    https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153205096166301

Now that you mentioned it, did the other 3 King Broadcasting stations update their weather graphics to match the rest of their newscasts like NWCN does?

  12. However, KBMT and KCEN have that TEGNA-stylized layout at the very top of their websites where it mentions "A Tegna Company." But that's the only thing I've seen so far that these stations have taken away from TEGNA. The rest still comes from the London Broadcasting era.

I meant to ask when are they going to update the websites so that they have the same layout as 9news and 11Alive?

  13. Nexstar Eyeing Media General Proxy Fight

New York Post, Dec 10, 2015, 3:33 PM EST

Nexstar Broadcasting Group is planning to take its fight against Media General to the boardroom if the two sides can’t agree to merge. Nexstar is eyeing Media General’s board nominations that start on Dec. 28, as a prelude to mounting a challenger slate in a proxy battle.

    http://nypost.com/2015/12/10/nexstar-ups-the-ante-in-fight-with-media-general/

    :mad::mad:

And I thought Starboard Value would be the one initiating the proxy fight. Plus, I could really see Pluria Marshall of Marshall Broadcasting getting involved in it.

  14. Not terrible, but I loathe Nexstar's obsession with "local" brandings. It's cheesy but I know Perry Sook is obsessed with emphasizing localism. Whether that actually trickles down into a better news product or is just a veneer is up for debate.

Their reputation for cheapness has a basis in reality. They don't have a stellar reputation in the business...it's not just confined to websites like this. It's more how they treat employees versus their presentation/stuff that gets focused on here. Just look on Glassdoor (esp. reviews from news department employees)...

That being said I've never worked for them, so I can't speak to any of this from personal experience.

I remember an article from about 2 years ago in which, if I remember correctly, Nexstar's CFO said that Nexstar doesn't care about ratings (some of their stations don't rate with Nielsen and even then, they don't care about being #1) and neither do their advertisers, because according to them, "what matters is moving trucks this month" (not the exact words).

And you're right about Perry Sook emphasising localism, he even did it while accepting the first amendment award

  15. Can't judge what I don't watch. If what I'd think they look like is anything close to reality, they're probably not good.

Basically you're saying that all the 4 networks’ special report graphics suck. I do agree with NBC News' special report graphics. They should at least have an update to their current graphics

  16. Really, though, all three networks' special report graphics are bad. NBC's are serviceable, but VERY outdated. The latest CBS package is pretty bad, and doesn't go with any of the network's other well-designed looks (but the CBS This Morning graphics blow chunks compared to the earlier packs). As for ABC, they haven't had a good look in that department since 2009 (1/2) or 2010, if you count the FIRST version based off WN's '09 pack (before they tweaked the scale, fonts, and coloring). Seeing as this year's revamp of World News Tonight is a huge step up from the red, white and puke look, I'm optimistic that new special report graphics should be an improvement, and I'd imagine we'll see a change by the State of the Union next month...if not before then.

What about Fox News' special report graphics?
