Oh boy... That ship sailed last century, right about the same time "Exclusive" lost all meaning. It's ok Grandpa, You can hook your wheelchair to my walker and we can maramble into the next century where the kids have smartphones and Facebook Yummies. BTW... Does WINS still do a 20/20 format after all these years?

Did the Ron Hicklin Singers ever do any news stuff? -
You can have a "pass" cuz you used it in a handle. ...but we will be watching you....bwaaaaa

I think it's supposed to be a rip-off of the Ch-8 in Fort Bragg, CA that used to do some news way back in the dark ages. Psssst... Nobody in Northern California says "Norcal". Yes, it's acceptable to say "Socal" when referring to all counties south of Santa Barbara....not to be confused with "Soquel" located in Santa Cruz County. Just like no sane native Californian would ever say "Cali". Hollywood screws everything up.

There was a hand painted sign on the fence that surrounded the KGTV heliport "Sky-10 Heliport"... Over the years it faded.. I so wanted to steal that sign.

To be fair, any station can afford a drone. KBEX has owned and operated it's own drone since 1973. Our gas operated drone scares the SH*T out of the competition....and birds.
-
Sad fact is most TV news operations don't actually own and operate the drones... Most stations and networks farm the stuff out to stringers and other outside operators. Why??? LIABILITY reasons.

I guess NBC never learned from the "Faye" and "The Montefusco's" debacle... The show has been sabotaged ...plain and simple. NBC has created the asylum that the lunatics have now taken over.
-
....But the set is soooooo pretty!

The problem here is she is trying to present a hard news approach and still be "upticking" and upbeat. It's just not working. As far as the guest "problem" that's a matter for whoever is supervising the guest bookings. If I was an NBC exec I would be royally pissed at Messing for screwing the company objective....but MK gets the blame for the stupid questions...and the bookers/ producers get to take the hit also. This show is completely doomed and needs to be destroyed by the end of the week. MK will be fine no matter what...she still gets paid.

Or they could just blow all your minds ...and when you wake up you will have "2 Daddy's" or "2 Mommy's" anchoring. Maybe even toss in a new "Gender Fluid" sports person. How about some "blended" house pets?

I bet NBC hopes he just drifts off ..and becomes a tropical depression..... But...what if ??? he gets bigger and Bigger and Bigger and Bigger and becomes Super Storm Glenn ??? Why is it so windy in Philly??? Cuz WCAU Sux!

This is a terrible situation with the loss in life of these brave experts. Yes...Experts... You see only a handful of experienced and trained tower crews are left out there. With the upcoming 'repack" there is a giant shortage of crews trained and available to do the high tower work. The repack may be delayed/ extended due to crew shortages. Bless those workers and the families.

Have you broken the news to Lieberman yet??? He will be crushed.

Meanwhile back in the penthouse executive dining room at NBC's 30 Rock...We hear a collective...... "Oh Fu#k...what just happened?" Not a good sign when a "company friendly" guest goes "off reservation" like that. This won't be pretty.

:53 seconds to say good bye after 20 years of service... He deserved a lot more time. And to add insult to injury he has to toss back to the lady that was in diapers 20 years ago. Good luck Drew...enjoy the normal life.

It's a lot easier now with the net to cross reference with newspapers and air checks. Most stations made a daily aircheck starting with the 1/2in and U-Matic formats....so you can cross reference much easier with the net and even some crowd sourcing. The fun part is you become a video detective. If there is no info in the film can then you have to go with what you see. it's pretty simple because the 1950's thru the 1980's there was not a huge amount of film or tape that made air...there was a lot less filmed and taped(edited) content. Plus you only have to log and transfer the local events because the network stuff was not saved locally in most cases. It's like those retired detectives that return from retirement to work "cold" cases. A serious news viewer in a market for the last 30-40 years would find it to be a cakewalk since they know who all the local "players" big stories have been over the years.
-
I am already in love with her. People will pay to see the old stuff, it's really just a matter of finding someone to do it in each market. When you consider that in 1960 most tv stations only did about 1 hour of news daily at the most, so it's really not such a giant effort to clear a bankers box of old a/b rolls in a day or less. Just time and money...like everything else. ...and someone that actually cares about local history. Thanks RKO for posting that.

It's AFTRA/SAG for most on-air...and a million other unions for the tech stuff.

Maybe they are waiting for the deal to ACTUALLY BE APPROVED FIRST. This is what I love here.. You are all soooo against the Sinclair deal as being evil and sinister... Yet... You all can't wait for those NEW evil and sinister Sinclair graphics. OMG...the irritation has become part of the attraction.

From KNBC "freelancer" to "Internal Journalist"... Hey Gene Kang....you paying attention here<<<< Hey guys... "Freelancing" at an O&O in a major market means... Working as a 1099 employee...no benefits...no overtime...crap hours...unsecured ...no protections. Yucky money. The Idea in TV news is to actually have "made it" when you get to the top 10. You should have earned the full-time by now. Don't get me wrong, some situations are perfect for freelancing if you need and desire a very flexible employment situation....like part-time work...NOT full-time. It's just a way for the employer to string you along by telling you... "We like your work...but not enough ... to give you a real high paying slot." The "real" union gigs are protected like gold by the employers (high pay) and the unions (few union jobs left) who protect those gigs for their own.

Oh dear lord...(smh,smh) Breaking into the Olympics with breaking news is nothing new. Just ask ABC.

It's time for Pumpkin Spice fun... The smell of fall and everything is Pumpkin Spice... How does Pumpkin Spice affect your TV news viewing habits? No Pumpkin Spice haters please..

Now everyone is talking about who leaked the video... That's all fine and good...but anyone with even a passing knowledge of the NBC routers at 30rock know that that isolated camera feed could have been accessed and recorded from maybe 100 or more work stations in the building ...via the in-house routing switchers. Heck it can even be accessed and recorded off-site like at the NBC field shop....and via IP. Besides....what "high level" NBC management type even knows how to work the switchers...and even then...the union hacks would have a fit if they saw management on that equipment. So I say you have maybe 2000+ possible suspects at NBC.... Good luck finding the "leaker". STOP HAMMERING:smash:
