  1. Yeah, and then completely strip them to the bone. (WDBJ, WCAX, KYTV, etc.)
  2. Both could use some serious work, really.
  3. https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/fox10s-kari-lake-calls-new-times-20-year-old-dopes-11327644 KSAZ's Kari Lake is at it again...dropping F-bombs on FB live directed toward her management and a Phoenix paper.
  4. Reminds me of the WBBH graphics before they switched to their current pack.
  5. That wasn't meant to be a negative or poor reflection on her. Instead it was meant to be a negative reflection on an industry that now sees experience as too costly to be worth it.
  6. I highly doubt today's Scripps will want anything to do with a highly-paid, older anchor. Sad but true.
  7. Don't forget the set, the bones of which are the same as when the station switched buildings back in 2001. It's had significant refreshes since, obviously...but still. And it took them how long to go HD? This is a station needing some serious TLC. It's amazing how cutting-edge they looked for a small-market station back when they moved...and how Calkins essentially let it languish.
  8. KOVR 95 theme composer hypothesis? Compare this to "Newscast A" by Sonoton, used by WKCF. I hear some similarities, especially at the end of the KOVR open.
  9. The open (or rejoin) is chopped up because it wasn't posted for us... But here's a peek at the previously-unseen-online KPLR Impact era.
  10. One word: Wow!
  11. Let's see, he's over 50 and works at Tegna. Do the math.
  12. Hence why people call it a scam.
  13. Looks quite nice. That horrible Cleveland 19 logo needs to go.
  14. Who? This is a station that used to have recognizable names. They had that main anchor who replaced Dennis Bounds that lasted like a year and a half. Revolving door. Who's still left there?
  15. While it may have been ethically questionable -- reporters using their connections is something that happens all the time. I can't imagine his friendship with the lawyer is something WTSP didn't know until now. Seems to me like Tegna, which has a notorious distaste for over-50s, was looking for a reason to can him and the newspaper article was it. Is anyone over 50 even left there anymore?
  16. Anyone know if this is a cut of Total News by Cue11 or a different pack (potentially also by them)? A really sexy open regardless.
  17. I'm not passing judgement on the network's quality -- but it's a digital subchannel that you always get on satellite, which is a big chunk of viewers. Number two, it's likely buried on cable in most markets. Three, the demographics aren't exactly 25-54.
  18. Most of the CT/MT Hearst ABC stations haven't had middday shows for a while. I know WISN is getting or just got one. KOAT, KOCO and KMBC still don't have one.
  19. seems like he was the epitome of the new Tegna mindset...bring in a cheap thirtysomething no one's ever heard of but is good at Facebook and Twitter to replace a vet. What happened?
  20. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a return to the SF market (if someone is willing to pay up) when his Phoenix contract expires.
  21. Yeah, this idea that Tegna is rolling out the red carpet for a vet anchor is crap. He's doing commentary and is probably not getting paid a whole lot to do so. Tegna has pushed out far more longtime anchors than they've brought in, that's for sure. Seems like half the people at KING are like nobodies now. (Hip nobodies)
  22. Yep. If you're wondering why so many Hearst stations have primetime newscasts on freakin' MeTV (particularly on KETV and KCCI, both of which reach Iowa) or the Raycom stations with news on Bounce...this is almost certainly why. Politicians will spend money on anything that's a newscast.
  23. Yikes. Red does NOT suit KMBC.
  24. It's really sad. Thank God for Hearst and Cox.
