1. Maybe a sign of things to come, the 3D weather graphics seen on KTRK and a few other ABC O&O's seems to have come to WABC.
2. Saw this before the 11pm newscast yesterday. Is WCBS going full screen?
3. Go to NBC 4 New York's Vimeo Page. vimeo.com/nbc4newyork They have some video's of their own about Storm Ranger, which you can see the NBC10 branding in some cases on the truck, but they're branding it as Storm Ranger 4. Also, their 4pm team will take a break for the olympics and return August 22nd.
4. Saw that as well, but didn't finish watching it. Did they fix it?
5. No, Alison's not a KYW reporter, and I'm sure KYW has their connections to Rendell in addition to the MSNBC responsibilities.
6. That's just his personality. He does the same on his radio show on WABC-AM and all the national shows he's on. He's not a member of the team, he's just invited because of his personality.
7. The same "portal to hell" bug that hit WLS for a while, hit WABC today towards the end of the 4pm newscast. Ex:
8. KYW sent Jessica Dean, and former aide to George W. Bush Alison Young to Cleveland, as well as having Ed Rendell in studio as an analyst during the 11pm news.
9. My Question is, are they the ones who decided on it, or did Taft just decide to scale back his work? Obviously they have to give Scott the experience in front of everyone so when Taft retires, everyone would've gotten used to Cheryl by then.
10. Jessica Dean scored an interview with Gov. Scott Walker tonight. This week's newscasts have been surprisingly hard news so far for the most part. Maybe a sign of the future?
11. I've been watching KYW pretty much my whole life, and I enjoy it, but the lack of male talent is starting to annoy me. Not to sound sexist, but you can't have 4 women at the anchor desk at 11pm. Tonight they had Lauren Casey, Jessica Dean, Nicole Brewer, and Lesley Van Arsdall. Even the weekend evening newscasts can't be like that. When it comes to those spots, you need to have male anchors to balance it out.
12. Nicole Mitchell, formerly of the Weather Channel, and WFOR, as well as Al Jazeera America, filled for John Elliott as well.
13. She's anchoring solo as well.
14. WCAU just ran a next at 4 promo so I'm guessing the graphics will debut at 4pm today. EDIT: WCAU is now using Look N
15. Apparently Rob Schmitt is going to Fox News:
16. I'm not sure about KPIX, but KYW sent Ukee in 2013 and 2014, and Kate Bilo was sent in 2015.
17. Yeah, the opens are so cheezy.
18. The Wawa Welcome America Festival is a concert held on the Ben Franklin Parkway every year. There are more events the week before like Wawa Hoagie Day on Independence Hall where everyone gets free hoagies for showing up. The WCAU broadcast wasn't bad, I think it just got boring and the lineup of musicians this year wasn't as familiar (although towards the end there were some great well-known groups). People were also mad because the roots didn't make their yearly performance on the show. If I were WCAU, I'd take it with a grain of salt due to the city's infamous bias and favoritism towards WPVI. 6abc didn't want it just like they didn't want the lottery rights because they probably think it isn't worth it, and in the end, 6abc is still winning.
19. So apparently WCAU's Wawa Welcome America Festival coverage has ticked off a lot of people. Some want it back on 6abc, some can't find out the channel it's on because of their ignorance, among other complaints, courtesy of looking up keywords 6abc & #WawaWelcomeAmerica on Twitter. Such Babies that I live right in the middle of.
20. Yeah, but Cindy's been demoted a lot during her tenure at WCBS. I'm pretty sure she anchored weekday mornings in the late 90s. She's also anchored the noon and 5pm news at WCBS so it's nothing new, I guess she really doesn't mind.
21. Most of the stations, not all. Sorry about that.
22. They'll probably never have one because it's better to complete when all the stations in NYC have news at noon, versus at 11am where you complete against The Price Is Right on WCBS and The View on WABC, both powerhouses in the market when it comes to network programming.
23. Someone have Byron's number to express complaints?
24. Just found this video from WTNH in New Haven, CT. It's Ann Nyberg talking with Al Primo, pioneer of the Eyewitness News format. Worth a watch:
25. KYW has for the most part competed at noon against WPVI due to the Price is Right lead-in's, except for when they replaced it with Talk Philly. WTXF has no chance.
