I sure hope so. I fear this could end up being another channel that uploads just one good video and never uploads again. WILX from August 11, 1990, still using Tuesday's Action News theme : WWTV-WWUP in 1991, using the same theme and what I think is a fantastic open for a small market station: WFMJ from June 21, 1982 using Telesound's Action News Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=JwBJlcrwpB8;m=21;s=45

A WOWT ID from 1982 using the tail end of the movie intro music from the Field Communications stations, leading into about 10 minutes of CBS Nightwatch. Keep an eye on the uploader's channel. I have a hunch some rare Omaha goodies are about to come from it!

Apparently WGCL is not ready to give up on news just yet. In 2 weeks, they will launch a 9pm newscast for now full sister station WPCH. And knowing the struggles GCL has had over the years, the new WPCH newscast will be the highest rated of all of 46's newscasts. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/cbs46-launches-9pm-newscast/194914

Even if Kelly is really promoting a clean slate, and her show was absolutely perfect, too many people remember her past and they won't bite for the new Kelly. The question now is, if NBC does abandon ship on MKT, when will it happen? I still say they'll throw in the towel in May (but not before more cringe-inducing moments and a retooled Sunday Night show after the Olympics) to get their moneys worth, but I'll be surprised if they give up at the end of the calander year. I'm still waiting for SNL to offer up a spoof on MKT (though in this era of SNL, it's not likely)

Ah yes, the early 80's was the period when KYW was deep in the ratings basement following the break-up of it's 'dream team' (Jones, Leonard, Savitch & Weissinger) and the notorious "Direct Connection" flop (nicknamed by many locals as "disco-news). Here's a newsbreak from early in 1982, when the station brought back the "007 Takes The Lektor" theme used by Group W stations during the 60's & 70's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=jreV7Ux0l3A;m=15;s=10 By May of that year, the station moved it's newscasts back into a news set, and began using And You (as used at fellow Group W station KPIX): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=z45gfXNDIE4;m=11;s=16

And even with that, I'll bet NBC will still give MKT at least 1 full season, plus bringing back Sunday Night in the spring! They paid a lot for her, so they'd be getting their money's worth!

From December 16, 1980, an intro from WAVY-TV before The Daily News. The theme is an instumental track from NBC's infamous Proud as a Peacock campaign:

I watched it, and it definitely seemed like they were going for an Oprah-esque vibe, I even called it White-Oprah. They also got rid of the news ticker/crawl for that hour, so they're going full on talk show. Yet it's still advertised as an NBC News program (the on screen logo alternates between the MKT and NBC News logos). If they wanted to turn the 9am hour into a full talk show, why not just put it syndication? I'll be recording every show onto DVD, just in case this becomes a notorious bomb, and NBC is forced to bring back Today's Take or give the 9am hour back to the local stations.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
hmaxhanson replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
Just streamed the debut of WVEC's Now at Eleven, and all I can say is, I'm impressed. Very informative, trying to attract today's generation while not trying to alienate the old-time viewers. I'm not sure it was live though. The camerawork seemed too fancy to be live. All in all, this should be how Tegna runs KXTV/WTSP and any other station they want Mr. Cheatwood to ruin. Speaking of WTSP, I also streamed their 11pm news at the same time, and it looks like they've improved from their very rocky start. They're more focused on actual hard news and saving the fluff stories for the end. They've also done away with teasing the headline of next story before flash-cutting to the "10 Tampa Bay" logo and commercials, without any "we'll be right back" or "coming up next". That was annoying.- 3684 replies

Well I thought it was pretty well done for such a small market. Now here's WPTZ in 1997 with Signature:

Here we go again. WVEC appears to be taking the WTSP/KXTV route, but thankfully, it's just for the 11pm news. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/9/22/tegna-blowing-up-the-news-in-norfolk- 3684 replies

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
hmaxhanson replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I'll just bet that by the end of the year Mark High-Man will quit Sinclair because he's now playing second banana to the big bad Boris, and maybe head to The Trump Channel (formerly Fox News). -
A KSDK promo from October 1996 with a graphics package I haven't seen, just try and guess what it's inspired by! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=tCai5tOsOuI;m=4;s=39

Nice! I'm glad Ry's collection wasn't damaged by Harvey. By 1993, KBMT was using Spirit of Texas and the same graphics as WUAB: The next year, they were using Palmer News Package and a copy of KIII's open from the same time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=4YaGHvLLepU;m=6;s=24 And here's a real oddity: KBMT using The One & Only, but with their previous classic logo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Zaqc7IG-Owo;m=15;s=30

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
hmaxhanson replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Alright, here's another question about the forced-at-gunpoint-to-runs. Do they even spread to newscasts on Sinclair-owned stations that are produced by another station? I ask this because during my Fox station's newscast (which is produced by the CBS station) there was the sponsor tag for BLWB during the commercials, but the actual segment wasn't in the newscast. -
From what I could find on Newspapers.com, "12 News Now" was very short lived, as by February of 93, Bill Cosby's You Bet Your Life was in it's place, and when that was cancelled, A Current Affair, the show which 12 News Now replaced, took it's time slot.
