After 7 years being back in Norfolk. WTKR Evening News anchor Beverly Kidd is leaving the Business at the end of the month.
-
I'm aware of that. I saw the gold version and immediately thought of KDKA and how they should copy it.
-
I saw this graphic from WBBM about the Waukesha tragedy and immediately thought of the current KDKA-TV black and gold look. This could be a great update for KDKA if they go through with it. I would suggest to change the CBS logo on the left to a CW logo for WPCW newscasts though.
-
I would love to see KCNC's new graphic in the Black and Yellow KDKA-TV look.

I don't know if I believe this. It makes the most sense to go to either CBS or PBS and CBS is still the best option of the 2. I don't think Brian will be able to pass David Muir and WNT but I do think he could pass Lester and NN for 2nd place.

This is going to happen in March 2022. I can see it NOW. The CBS Evening News with Brian Williams back in NYC. You know CBS would do this in a heartbeat.

ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
Kenneth Kissel replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
Meanwhile, During the Monday Night Football Rebroadcast, WTAE still thinks this is 2007. WTAE had issues in the Engineering Dept. tonight as well. I talk about that here: -
When do certain station owners leave the NAB? I could see several doing that if the NAB continues to push higher retransmission fees and continue to lose viewers. I could even see more mergers of duopoly stations into different subchannels. Get ready to see ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, ION and MyTV stations on multiple subchannels with much lower quality.

KDKA-TV (Pittsburgh) already does this and airs CBSEN at 7 PM and airs more local news at 7:30 PM Unopposed. WTAE (ABC) and WPXI (NBC) airs their evening news at 6:30 PM against each other. WTAE airs Inside Edition on its main channel at 7 PM and Local News on its DT2 channel as well as Entertainment Tonight at 7:30 PM. WPXI airs Jeopardy at 7 and Wheel of Fortune at 7:30 PM. What is weird is both WTAE and WPXI are airing CBS Media Ventures shows against a CBS O&O doing the CBSEN.

I would start with the large markets first and then go to some smaller markets. I would also give an opt out to stations who don't want to participate.

Good bye Norah O'Donnell. I wonder if CBS News will go back to the affiliate model they did for the weekend evening news during the pandemic and make it for weekdays. I would love to see KDKA-TV 's news team do a newscast for the entire country and then have it rotate to every CBS Affiliate in the US until you find a successor to Norah. Who they currently have at the network level SUCKS and they know it.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
Kenneth Kissel replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
WTWC/WTLF could go to Nexstar or Cox (other stations in that area are either owned by Scripps or Gray) , WXLV can go to Scripps (other 3 stations in that area are Hearst/Tegna/and Nexstar) , and KDNL (if they get serious about a news department) could be great for Hearst. -

For sure. I don't like WPRI either in addition to WJAR. One of my favorite personalities from Altoona PA is WLNE's new morning anchor (KC Kantz). -

It is always usually the broadcaster that is at fault here but Dish has taken RSNs and other high priced channels off lately because of " low viewership". So this time I blame Dish as well. Dish still wishes they would have merged with DirecTV in 2002.

Danielle is a great meteorologist who was treated so badly in Pittsburgh at WPXI. I'm so happy that she gets to lead the Weather Team at WHNT , I just wish it was in Pittsburgh or Hampton Roads (her hometown), Nexstar (WHNT's Owner) does own a station in HR [WAVY-TV] so maybe it still could happen when Don Slater Retires.
-
Happy to see that, there is still a worry that ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney could do the same thing when their contracts run out. It makes you really think these OTT services and actually "cutting the cord". Sounds like a little bit of jealousy on the Broadcast Networks.
-
If I was a station owner (Nexstar,Sinclair,Tegna, Hearst, Scripps, Gray and others). I would bring this situation up in retransmission talks with Comcast so something like this can never happen again. BTW, what is stopping ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney from doing the same thing? You would think Comcast would have more to lose due to ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney not owning a cable service. BTW, the extension only lasts till Tonight.
-
I don't see how this is even legal for Comcast to do. Doesn't Youtube TV have retransmission contracts with individual station owners (Nexstar,Sinclair,Tegna, Hearst, Scripps, Gray and others)? The only stations Comcast can legally take down from YoutubeTV are the NBC O&Os and Comcast cable owned channels.
-
Can Comcast pull evey NBC Station off the air in the entire country? Wouldn't it effect Station owners with NBC Affiliates? Wouldn't Station owners bring this squabble up when they go into an an retransmission agreement of their own with Comcast? The O&Os I understand but the affiliates are different right? If I was Google, I would mention that.

Here are more Affiliate Tickers from Hearst (KCCI), Nexstar (WTAJ) , Gray (WBTV), Sinclair (WRGB), Meredith (WGCL) and another COX station WHIO. I did try Scripps but none of the Scripps stations had a ticker at all like the Cox station I showed you yesterday.

Or it will be renamed "The Early Show" in 3 years.
-
PLEASE CBS, Whatever you do, Don't go back to The Early Show . It Was more Horrible then This is. This was done at Trump Plaza in its beginning run too before moving to 5th Avenue. I agree about giving this to the Affiliates if CBS Mornings doesn't work out. How did this not get changed for over 12 Years? Renaming.
