  1. Your wrong. They will change the Network name to Entertainment Nation (because of News Nation). P.S: I don't really think Nexstar will actually change The CW's name.
  2. I apologize, I was told buy another source that it was 2006. I have fixed that in my original post. These graphics still need an update badly.
  3. This screams that FOX may be the one who would be upset with Nexstar if they buy the CW. Remember, NONE of the FOX owned UPN stations switched to The CW because Tribune was also in every market they were in and Tribune owned a piece of The WB. Many of Nexstar's board members used to be Tribune employees. If I was FOX, I may want to start looking at other owners to fill gaps, it could be a repeat of 2011's retransmission differences all over again for Nexstar. If that happens, 44 markets would switch to The CW from Fox and 23 Stations would lose MyNetworkTV.
  4. I wasn't sure where to put this but If FOX wants to encourage its affiliates to update their graphics. I wonder If they could ask COX Media Group/Imagicomm Communications to update KOKI-TV FOX 23's graphics. This has been on this station since the ancient year of 2013.
  5. Jeff could do so much better if he was with NBC or ABC. We saw it with Tom Llamas when he switched from ABC to NBC. I could also see Jeff Glor do what Russ Mitchell did with WKYC. There are still stations that will hire network talent for the right price.
  6. Paramount can deny it all they want but CBS was trying to replace Norah because Norah is terrible at doing the CBS Evening News. Ratings haven't been this bad since Dan Rather was at the network. Even Katie Couric had better ratings as the anchor then Norah has now. There is a reason why morale is at an all time low at CBS, it starts with Norah and ends with her too.
  7. I'm assuming they would make it completely LIVE if they had the full noon hour. Both competitors WTAE and WPXI have LIVE full hour noon newscasts
  8. If that happens, KDKA-TV could actually have a LIVE 12:30 newscast instead of a recorded CW version.
  9. Pittsburgh's May sweeps ratings for weekday local TV newscasts showed a rising tide for WTAE-TV, with a first-place finish at 5 and 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. in households and the key demo of viewers ages 25-54. In the mornings, WTAE’s newly-configured, three-anchor newscast put the station further ahead of its rivals than it was in May 2021. KDKA-TV came in first in households at noon, 4, 5 and 11 p.m. The station was first in the demo at noon and 4 p.m. And KDKA’s 10 p.m. newscast on WPCW-TV, now anchored by Royce Jones, was first at 10 p.m. in households (a hair ahead of WPGH-TV in the demo). WPXI took first place in the demo at 5 and 11 p.m. Ratings released last week by Nielsen include household ratings that reflect a measure of popularity and the more important-to-stations demographic ratings, including the key demo of ages 25-54, that are used to set ad rates. Year-to-year, newscast ratings are generally down in most time periods with mornings holding up better than other daypart ratings. At 4 p.m., the addition of newscasts on WPXI and WTAE cut KDKA’s ratings by almost three ratings points, compared to 2021 even though Channel 2 still came in first. WPXI’s 4 p.m. ratings were off by more than three ratings points compared to when it had “Judge Judy” in the time period in 2021. The addition of WPXI’s 6:30 p.m. newscast on WPGH-TV drew a 0.4 rating and 1 share in household and 0.2/1 in the demo. A year earlier, reruns of “Two and a Half Men” drew 1.5/3 household and 0.7/3 in the demo. 10. Like it or not, the NFL is here to stay for the longhall due to amount of money they are making. Fox, CBS, and NBC all need to capitalize on that. Especially FOX because they don't have much to fall back on now due to the Disney merger from 2019. It also impacts Nexstar (to get back on topic here) due to how many CBS, NBC, and FOX stations they have but I could see Nexstar investing in The CW while giving up many of their other affiliates to make the CW successful.
  11. Why Only 3 years. Really Nexstar? BTW, Happy Birthday @DENDude.
  12. Some Minor Tweaks This Afternoon were made to the Weather Graphics and Open during the midday broadcast.
  13. Exactly, which is why Fox needs to consider more AFC markets to buy stations in and make them contenders. WISH-TV/WNDY could be perfect for Fox if they wanted to buy them and give Nexstar the CW affiliate to WXIN 59 at the same time. I know WXIN is the senior partner in that duopoly but you have WTTV CBS 4 as well. Just switch to that station being the senior partner and it will be OK.
  14. I doubt WISH-TV would go back to CBS but Fox seems like a natural fit for WISH. Fox could sweeten the deal by acquiring WISH and WNDY and making them FOX/My O&Os. WISH already has a news department and Indy has an NFL Team (Colts) which could help Fox market WISH/WNDY. Circle City has basically been Nexstar with a different name anyway( take one look at their news presentation and you will agree).
  15. I agree, especially the CW O&Os. Myself and others talked about this in the Nexstar Buying the CW? channel in more detail but I believe KDKA/WPCW will both be going to Nexstar after Nexstar takes over The CW.
  16. Shawn Hoder didn't do well in Tampa with WTSP being TEGNA's experimental station. New GM Chris Cotugno has already stumbled with saying that Pittsburgh isn't a sports town. I'm very worried about Pittsburgh's long time ratings leader due to these two new hires. According to many people I know at the station. Moral has plummeted since Kathy Hostetter became the GM of WJZ in Baltimore. This is not good for KDKA.
  17. KENS 5 Has the Updated Graphics as well.
  18. I agree, NYC is the best bet. I wonder if cost has something to do with that decision as well.
  19. Oh, it looks like KYW isn't just importing their weather from Pittsburgh, you can add KTVT Dallas Meteorologist Jeff Ray to this list. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/5/24/what-the-hell-is-up-with-that. How does this happen in a Top 5 market like Philadelphia?
  20. That would be a huge fall for WMYT, It started as a Capital Broadcasting station (they own WRAL), bought by FOX to be an MyNetworkTV O&O, sold to Nexstar and then sold to Gray? OUCH. It is more likely that WCCB gets the MyNetworkTV Affiliation or it goes on WJZY as a secondary Affiliation if WCCB wants to go independent so WMYT could grab the CW for Nexstar.
  21. WPCW airs CBS Programming if KDKA-TV airs Breaking News, Severe Weather, or Steelers Preseason games and will move The CW lineup to overnights if necessary. I wish more stations would do that.
  22. My point was that Nexstar would start with moving/buying CW affiliates to stations they would own to make them O&Os For Example, I could see Nexstar selling its MyNetworkTV/Ion affiliations to Fox, Scripps, or someone else to pick up more CW stations (it would be needed if Nexstar wanted to buy WPSG,WTOG,and KBCW from CBS to keep them CW O&Os) then I could see Nexstar getting rid of its weaker FOX stations after that.
  23. There is going to be A LOT of duopolies from non-Nexstar stations (including CBS/CW O&Os that choose not to sell) that will be in the same position as WAXN. I can see WPCW being one of them( they mostly are a dumping ground for KDKA-TV programming that can't fit on the main channel). You know Nexstar will want many of its own stations to be CW affiliates.
  24. Not bad for someone who (just 4 years ago) was on WJAC with a not so certain future. I'm so happy for Mary. https://twitter.com/MaryOursWX/status/1528003287127040000?t=TbBY97KZyQt7nFR4jAfqMw&s=19
