Happy to see that, there is still a worry that ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney could do the same thing when their contracts run out. It makes you really think these OTT services and actually "cutting the cord". Sounds like a little bit of jealousy on the Broadcast Networks.
-
If I was a station owner (Nexstar,Sinclair,Tegna, Hearst, Scripps, Gray and others). I would bring this situation up in retransmission talks with Comcast so something like this can never happen again. BTW, what is stopping ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney from doing the same thing? You would think Comcast would have more to lose due to ViacomCBS, Fox, and Disney not owning a cable service. BTW, the extension only lasts till Tonight.

I don't see how this is even legal for Comcast to do. Doesn't Youtube TV have retransmission contracts with individual station owners (Nexstar,Sinclair,Tegna, Hearst, Scripps, Gray and others)? The only stations Comcast can legally take down from YoutubeTV are the NBC O&Os and Comcast cable owned channels.
-
Can Comcast pull evey NBC Station off the air in the entire country? Wouldn't it effect Station owners with NBC Affiliates? Wouldn't Station owners bring this squabble up when they go into an an retransmission agreement of their own with Comcast? The O&Os I understand but the affiliates are different right? If I was Google, I would mention that.

Here are more Affiliate Tickers from Hearst (KCCI), Nexstar (WTAJ) , Gray (WBTV), Sinclair (WRGB), Meredith (WGCL) and another COX station WHIO. I did try Scripps but none of the Scripps stations had a ticker at all like the Cox station I showed you yesterday.

Or it will be renamed "The Early Show" in 3 years.
-
PLEASE CBS, Whatever you do, Don't go back to The Early Show . It Was more Horrible then This is. This was done at Trump Plaza in its beginning run too before moving to 5th Avenue. I agree about giving this to the Affiliates if CBS Mornings doesn't work out. How did this not get changed for over 12 Years? Renaming.

Looks like there is a difference depending on who owns the station. The first Picture is CBS O&O KOVR, the 2nd is Tegna owned KFMB, the third is Cox owned KIRO TV. Look at the difference in tickers or lack their of.

I fixed my spelling on my posts. Ty.

It was taken down due to KDKA-TV not having legal use to Brian Lee due to Lee having a contract with WPXI-TV. They couldn't use Kamer either due to WCAU.
-
It isn't going to happen considering how competitive the Pittsburgh market is. If there was a combined newscast. It would hurt KDKA more then KYW.
-
It would be a lot harder for KYW Considering KDKA has a black and yellow CBS O&O custom graphics package and KYW has plain Network Graphics. KDKA is doing a much better job anyway then KYW in the ratings. KDKA Photographer Ian Smith is also with Ross Guidotti as well for KYW this weekend. In addition, KDKA uses Steve Kamer for their intro and KYW Uses Brian Lee. That creates a conflict for both areas since Steve Kamer is on WCAU and Brian Lee has Promos for WPXI (Both NBC Stations).

Adam Winkler who was the Sports Director for WTKR CBS 3 in Norfolk is moving back home to the ABC O&O station KTRK-TV.

Stacy Smith Has Retired from KDKA-TV after 40 Years at the TV station. Here is his final remarks.

I could see George Stephanopoulos switching from ABC to CBS if he loses his "chief" anchor position to David Muir. CBS would welcome George with open arms and David would love to see him leave. This would be a few years away if true but I'm sure George would shorten his contract with ABC to go be the chief anchor for CBS News if CBS gave him a good deal. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/01/media/david-muir-george-stephanopoulos-abc/index.html

Indeed, Norah has done nothing to make people switch from NBC or ABC at all and has continued to flounder in the ratings like her predecessors did before her. The wheel of bad news anchors at CBS continues. However, I would like to see Maurice Dubois anchor with Norah. I think , If done right, could be a very good duo. I think Norah would hate that idea though.
-
CBS has already tried that with Jeff Glor. Not happening again unless they would be willing to move one of the O&O anchors to the CBSEN. My suggestion would be Heather Abraham from KDKA-TV.

FTVLive also had a story on this Thursday before Variety https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/4/8/is-z-on-the-way-out-at-cbs. I think if CBS was smart, they go back to Hard news like the Scott Pelley Era. Use stations like KDKA-TV (who is currently one of two highest rated CBS O&O stations besides WJZ) as the backbone of this new vision. I think Norah O Donnell could also be a part of this too but I'm not completely confident on that. CBS News needs a change of thought and vision to compete with ABC, NBC, CNN, FOX, in addition to the many station groups starting National divisions (like News Nation and The National Desk).

WTKR CBS 3. June 1999 under New York Times Company Ownership (Now a E.W Scripps Station) with custom tune Ignitor. This is one of my favorite moments in this Station's history and This was also before their ratings free fall in the "Your" Era.

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion

For the Triad: I could see Tegna as a player for WMYV as well. As for WXLV it is more tricky, Nexstar/Mission could claim WXLV but I wonder what the ratings for XLV is for that to be legal. For Raleigh: I could also see WLFL or WRDC go with Nexstar/Mission as well. It is very unlikely that Disney would want a duopoly. The other station could get bought by Bahakel Communications and have their master control in Charlotte at WCCB. -
Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
Kenneth Kissel replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
I think if Sinclair was smart they would sell stations with little to no news departments and then focus on Tripolies that they can sell as well. For example, the Fox Stations that Sinclair owns but has Tegna, Cox, or someone else airing newscasts need to be sold to said company that is airing the Newscasts on the Sinclair Fox Stations. It would save Sinclair millions for having to pay said companies to produce newscasts.
