I don't want the FCC to force the Cox stations to take an unfair deal. What needs to happen is the FCC and the NAB needs to allow Directv, Dish, Xfinity, Spectrum and others to pipe in a nearby station from a market next to the one where the station is dropped. So, in Pittsburgh's case. You have the option to choose WTOV, WJAC, WFMJ, or WBOY as an alternative till COX and Directv agree on a deal. In 2010, Directv replaced most NBC Hearst stations with Nexstar's WBRE for example. I think the main alternates should be the NYC locals (East Coast [most are O&Os of said network]) and LA Locals (West Coast). For those worried this wont work, Here is why it will. In most cases it would be the market next to theirs which would be semi local. All of the stations mentioned above do carry News, weather and Sports from certain places in the Pittsburgh market already so it would be an extension of that. It doesn't work in some areas but in most it would work fine. I do see some viewers going to other stations but most are watching for the network programming anyway. Not news.

Good point but do you see what is happening? The more these companies get greedy, the more people leave and the more money these companies lose. The FCC has to step in at some point and do something. If they don't, it will be the end of TV as we know it.

Also To note, WPXI in Pittsburgh is airing News Content on Sinclair Station WPGH at night and Now in the Morning in promos for "The National Desk"(as well as streaming newscasts on WPXI Now and NewsOn) so the argument Cox is using that people are losing critical COVID-19 and other News information is redundant and needs to be said by Directv. This is nothing more then a cash grab by Cox Media Group. I could use this as a bargaining chip in court If I was DIRECTV and mention To CBS/Sinclair to move the SB to KSTW for Seattle and put Cincy station WKRC 12 in Dayton so both areas still see the game.
-
I wonder if CBS will force COX to try to get this fixed before the Super Bowl. If not, I wonder IF CW O&O KSTW (owned by CBS) could air the game instead of KIRO in Seattle. I could see CBS doing that.
-
I can confirm that WPXI and some WTAE reporters has done this for 2 years now. I have to ask at times what Station it is because i can't see the Mic Flags when I see reporters in the field.
-
I fixed it to include the correct station.

Unless CBS wants to Buy WOIO/WUAB and make it better or WKYC switches from NBC to CBS (Tegna is the largest operator of CBS stations in terms of overall market reach, owning 15 CBS-affiliated stations that reach 8.9% of the country.) there is not much CBS can do to get out of the spot they are in for Cleveland. We know Gray won't be able to compete with either WJW or WEWS. If WOIO/WUAB becomes a CBS/CW O&O. It could be run similar to KDKA/WPCW and do pretty well.

Hearst Television and Verizon FIOS will be in a dispute in the beginning of the year. The Hearst channels at issue include WBAL Baltimore (NBC), WGAL Harrisburg (NBC), WTAE Pittsburgh (ABC), WCVB Boston (ABC) and WMUR Manchester, N.H. (ABC). https://www.nexttv.com/news/verizon-warns-viewers-hearst-signals-could-come-down Verizon also warned Gray Television Richmond Virginia Locals WWBT (NBC) and WUPV (CW) based on Gray's actions with other companies.

but, as I said eariler, WYOU and WFXP are off of Dish and they are Mission owned stations.
-
Most markets with a Misson owned station (Like WYOU and WFXP here in PA) are doing the same to Dish as their Nexstar counterparts.
-
I'm surprised this doesn't include WISH and WNDY. Circle City is just Nexstar with a different name.
-
I remember Jummy Olabanji, from WTKR in Norfolk VA many years ago. I believe this change was made because of Allison Seymour going to WUSA 9 and Maureen Umeh on WTTG Fox 5. WRC wanted some continuity with those 2 stations.

I asked Rob Owen, The person who wrote that report, and he was concerned about a push out as well. I'm glad it was Peggy's decision though. It should be noted that Peggy was feeling down in the last few months (You can tell at points watching the Noon news). I feel so bad for her and glad that she will be finally be happy. I hope she takes a long time to rest. She's earned it.
-
Thought i would Start this. BUT, I wonder if this was a force out like we have seen with KDKA-TV, Meredith, TEGNA and others. I know Rob Owen of the Tribune Review plans to ask this also but I would bring it up here as well for people here to Discuss. I'm so happy for Peggy and I hope she takes some time off and continues to keep that Pittsburgh Charm she has.

I wonder how many people think that the Norah experiment has failed at CBS yet? Can we PLEASE bring Scott Pelley Back? https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/8/12/wheres-norah

Anyone Else Noticing this on the recent CBS Evening News Broadcasts? Two here in PA, WTAJ and WYOU are putting their own logo next to the CBS Eye. Anyone else see this? I looked at KDKA (only in the beginning) and WKBN (none at all) too.
-
I'm still waiting for Pittsburgh PA (KDKA-TV) and Norfolk VA (WTKR-TV) to get turns anchoring soon. Most Florida stations (Except WTSP and WKRG) could be a good option for June. I would also like to see Oregon and more of the Midwest get a shot as well.
-
One of the KDKA photographers I'm friends with was talking on Facebook about it and brought up the idea. I don't believe it will actually happen though.
-
The only one that actually looked like they did any action instead of running a crawl was KDKA-TV. I also heard they may air the West Coast CBSEN feed on sister station WPCW-TV at 11 PM.
-
From Joe Flint of the Wall Street Journal: CBS News experienced technical difficulties tonight that prevented the CBS Evening News from airing at 6:30 pm, ET on the CBS Television Network. The issue is being resolved and the Mountain and West Coast versions of the CBS Evening News will air during the regular time slots.
-
I'm curious if New York or LA could be used for the west coast feed if DC continues to have issues?
-
KDKA-TV, Which airs the CBSEN at 7 PM also had this issue but quickly switched back to KDKA-TV News with the weekend open. Many local promos in place of the commercials. I will try to pull in KCBS or KCNC to see if it airs on the west coast.

Here is a WPXI Promo with Lee VO they have used since 2017. This will be interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_gJ4iQcoZA
-
I wonder if there will be a compromise. WPXI uses Brian Lee in a small capacity but I would love to hear Lee do KDKA-TV promos.
-
KDKA-TV can't use the Brian Lee Voiceover because WPXI already uses Lee for their promos. Can we hear a version from Steve Kramer?
